Two Souls Lost, And A New Monster

"Tia, no!" Vernon tried to grab me, but I was too out of reach now. "Ahhhh!!!" I grunt as I'm about to lunge. "Huh?" It dodges my attack, making me flustered, but I lunge one more time. *Dodges* It dodges again. As anger fills up in my body, I start swinging the knife around like a maniac, but it keeps dodging.

"Just die!!!" Thug! Vernon pulls me. "No! Let go of me!" "It's too late!" I look behind me, hearing James' voice. "What? He's your best friend, James!" "He's right!" Jack yells. "You're just gonna give up?!" "It's too late for me now, find professor Varion's body, and burn it!" He looks at the monster and yells..."Kill me already you monster!" "Jack..."

Out of nowhere the monster lets go of Jack and pushes him away. "Huh?" Jack freezes, but he realizes his hands starting to disappear, turning into dust, then starting to flow into the book the monster held. "Jack!" "Go!" The rest of us go, but me, Vernon, and James stay.

"What are you doing?! Leave!" James looks at Jack one last time and leaves leaves, but Vernon grabs my hand. "Vernon, wait." I look back one last time. "Jack..." "Survive this Tia." He smiles, as the last part of him disappears into the book. "Nooo!!!" "We have to go!" Vernon pulls me and we run away, shutting the door behind us, just in time before the monster reached the door.

Shut!!! "Jack..." "I know he was your childhood friend, and one of you're closest ones, but we wouldn't have been able to do anything." "How could you say that? Jack was your best friend too." "I know, but we have to move forward, being sad about the dead will only slow us down."

I let go of his hand. "This isn't the Vernon I know." "What are you talking about? Tia, the monster is right behind us we need to keep running." "No! I'll go by myself!" I run in the opposite direction leading to the second-floor stairs. "Tia, no!" Vernon runs, trying to catch me, but I outrun him and hide in one of the classrooms.

Shut!!! After shutting the door, I was about to cry when suddenly...Thud! "Huh?" A book falls and a piece of paper peeks out. "What's this?" I turn the paper around and see..."The new rules?!" After seeing the new rules written on the dirty piece of paper, my eyes widened and my heart skipped a beat.

"I need to show the others." I come out the door and am immediately greeted by a knife thrown at me. "Ah!!" I dodge it, and it hits the wall, vibrating after hitting the surface. "Tia?" "Yunior?" He immediately closes the door and exhales heavily. "Shh..." He puts his finger on my lips.

"What are you—" He peaks outside, sighs in relief, and takes his finger off my lips. "What we're you doing?" "The book guy chased us down so I ran here." "What?! Are the others okay?" "I think so, they ran in the teachers' office's direction."

"Why did you split up?" "I ran away so they could hide. I'm glad I bumped into you." "Well, we're best friends, I think that's why you're glad." I cross my arms. "I'd be glad even if it were a mannequin. I just wanted to be somewhere next to something... human-like. I'm tired of seeing these demons."

"I can agree with that." "What's that on your hand?" "Oh, it's actually the new rules that we're added." "Wait, really? Can I take a look?" "Sure." I give him the piece of paper. "We need to show this to the others." "That was what I was going to do, but is the monster gone yet?"

"I'll take a look." He opens the door slightly

and peaks. He closes it then looks back at me. "Yeah, it's gone. I'll go first." He leads the way and we run all the way to the teachers' office.

(IN THE TEACHERS' OFFICE)

Shut!!! "Yunior! Tia!" The others gather around us and hug us. "We're so glad you escaped!" Everyone seats down, but I notice that Vernon is nowhere to be seen. "Where's Vernon?" I asked. "Isn't he with you two?" "No, we split up when we ran."

"This is bad, we should go look for him," I said as I stood up. "Me too." Anna raises her hand, Michael, Angela, and Yunior joining her soon after. "Stay safe you guys." The others said as they walked us to the door. "Thanks, we will." We walk out the door and immediately feel the cold air press against our skin.

"What's going on? Why is it suddenly so cold?" *Bones cracking noise* "What the?!" Yunior yells, kicking the demon that grabbed his leg. "What the hell is that?!" "I think we should run." We grouped together, slowly backing away from the bone-cracking monster.

"What is that thing?!" Angela asked, her voice echoing throughout the school. "There's no time, we have to run." *Screeching* The monster screeches, making us run away. "Ah!" The monster grabs Angela's leg. "Get it off me!" She tries to push the monster away but it crawls to her torso.

"Oh my god!!" The monster grabs Angela's mouth, and opens it to the point where her jaw broke and cracked. "Sh*t!" "We should go!" We run away as fast as we could, but we still could hear the echoes of the monster cracking every bone in Angela's body.

(IN THE NURSE'S OFFICE)

Shut!!! "Shit, shit shit shit shit shit!!!" Michael places his hands on his head, walking around in circles around the room. "That thing just killed Angela..." I sit down on the bed. "Whatever that thing was, we have to be far away from it!" Yunior suggested.

"Then we need to leave, right now!" I grabbed both their hands and busted out the door. "Wait, that thing could still be out there..!" "Its bones crack as it crawls around, we can't hear it anymore so it's safe." "I guess you're right..." "Let's go upstairs." "Shouldn't we start here? On the first floor?"

"I think the monster's still here." "Okay then, let go." We go up the stairs and check on the classrooms. "He's not here." "Wait..." Michaels crouches slowly, looking at something intriguing to him. "What is it?" "Look." He motions us towards him. "Wait, that's..." "Vernon's necklace..."
