It was true Linda and I spent a lot of time together. She worked in the mayor’s office, handling minority affairs, and worked two blocks from NC Magazine. We often met for lunch on Wednesday when our schedules were usually free of meetings and appointments. The week of Memorial Day we decided to dine outside since Linda’s office was near one of the better parks in town. May in Raleigh is beautiful, the pollen blanket is not as heavy and the oppressive heat of summer is still a month away from smothering the city.
We spent the first ten minutes complementing each other on our outfits. Her lemonade colored suit with the matching pumps seemed to make her legs look like a hosiery ad, while my cayenne pepper sheath screamed subtle professional hotness.
