“Muffin, I’m not trying to pressure you, but I have really missed you and I wish you would reconsider us getting together,” he said rubbing my leg.

“Martin, I missed you, too,” I said, rolling my body into his. As my head rested on his chest, I could smell the Passion for Men he wore for special occasions. He kissed the top of my head, then my forehead, then my nose. As he bent down to kiss my lips, the doorbell rang.

“Happy New Year,” Keith said, his breath smelling slightly of alcohol.

“Let me get Devon and Nia. And Happy New Year to you too.” The cussing out I wanted to give him could wait until tomorrow. Right now, all I wanted to do was get the kids out the house and my groove on with Martin.

Being the man he is, Martin offered to carry Devon to Keith’s car. I don’t think Keith’s car was even out the parking lock yet before Martin and I went at it in the hallway. Thank God for yoga class: the one-legged crane pose really came in handy.
