Savage: The Night Wizard - (A Harry Potter Fanfic)

I was an ordinary boy with a simple life... That is, until the day I died... and now I don't even know what is common in my life anymore! But in reality... I prefer it like this. Who would like to be normal if you could be a wizard? Especially if you're the greatest wizard ever! Well... I don't. ****************************************** Also help me in Patrë-on /Se7enX, there are advanced chapters for you and it motivates me to write even more. Yay! Here's the new chapter!

Professor Flitwick, like Professor Snape, also made a little roll call. And when he finished the call, he started explaining to us about how wand movements and pronunciation affected incantation. And after the explanation, he told us that we were going to practice a spell.

"Let's practice the {Lumos} charm! This spell will create a light at the tip of your wands. The incantation is pronounced LOO-mos, and its wand movement is a rising and falling in a circle," Professor Flitwick told us as he demonstrating the wand movements.

"Pay close attention! {Lumos}" he then gave us a demonstration of the spell, and from the tip of his wand a bright light appeared. "Now it's your turn!"

I could already do the nonverbal and wandless {Lumos} spell, but I decided not to show it, as I knew there would be better times to demonstrate my understanding of wandless magic.

I then, already with my wand in hand, made the necessary wand movements and said in a clear, calm tone: " {Lumos} " and from the tip of my wand came a white light, almost as strong as Professor Flitwick's.

"Amazing! On your first attempt you manage to cast the spell! And yet with a light almost as strong and bright as mine! This is amazing, Mr. Night! 10 points for Ravenclaw!" Professor Flitwick, who saw my spell, said impressed.

"Minerva told me you were talented, Mr. Night, but I couldn't believe you were so much," he continued as he looked at me in awe. And I could feel the feelings of envy, jealousy, curiosity and admiration rising from the other students.

"I just got lucky, professor. You praise me a lot," I said humbly.

"I recognize someone talented when I see one, Mr. Night. And you seem to have quite a talent for Charms," Professor Flitwick said excitedly to me.

"Thank you" I then told him, accepting the compliment.

"Well then why don't you practice the {Nox} counter-enchantment now" Professor Flitwick told me. He then proceeded to explain how to cast the counter-enchantment "The pronunciation is NOKSS, and your wand movement is a wave" he demonstrated.

I then, with the {Lumos} spell still in effect, cast the counter-enchantment.

"{Nox}" and I saw the light that was on the tip of my wand extinguish.

"Perfect, Mr. Night! 5 more points for Ravenclaw!" Professor Flitwick praised me again, "Truly a very talented student. It will be a pleasure to teach a student like you," he finished as he gave me a nod. He then left to help the students who were having difficulty with the spell.

"Dude, how did you do that!?" Terry whispered to me in awe.

"Yes! How did you do it?! My wand hasn't turned on any light so far!" Anthony also asked me in an urgent whisper.

"You have to pronounce the spell calmly, not demanding for it, but commanding. And the wand swing has to be smooth… You can't be waving the wand rigidly like that" I told them, with the last part being spoken to Terry, who looked at me sheepishly, "Besides, the main factor to cast a spell is concentration and imagination"

"Concentration and imagination?" Anthony asked me confused.

"Yes, concentration and imagination. You have to concentrate on the spell, want it to be cast and focus on it. Also you have to imagine the spell being cast and what it would do" I said finishing my explanation. And I could see out of the corner of my eye Professor Flitwick looking at me pleased.

After listening to my explanation, Anthony and Terry then started trying to cast the spell again, this time following my words.

"Look! I got it!" Anthony said excitedly, managing to produce some light from his wand after three tries.

And a couple of tries later, Terry also managed to produce a small light from the tip of his wand.

"Hah! I did it too! And mine is brighter than yours, Anthony!" said Terry happily, mocking Anthony.

"But I got it first!" Anthony then snapped, looking at Terry with superiority.

"But your light was so dim, I doubt it could shine three feet in front of you," scoffed Terry. And any response Anthony might have given was cut short by Professor Flitwick, who arrived at our table.

"Congratulations sirs! 5 points each for being the second and third to cast the spell. And another 5 points to Mr. Night for the great explanation of how to cast the spell and for helping other students!" Professor Flitwick then congratulated us and gave me more points. And the feelings of envy, jealousy and admiration returned to be directed towards me.

As soon as the professor left, I took a look around, and I could see a lot of Ravenclaws and Slytherins sending me jealous looks. And especially there were Greengrass and Davis, with Greengrass looking at me jealously, competitively, and curiously, and Davis looking at me a little in awe. And then there was Malfoy who, in addition to looking at me with jealousy, also conveyed feelings of anger to me.

'Did he realize that I was the one who pranked him on the train?' I thought curious.

After that the class continued to go smoothly, with me training the spell casting speed and increasing and decreasing the intensity of the light. And I didn't help any other students with the spell, as no one but Anthony and Terry asked for my help.

And when the class ended, a little more than half of the students managed to produce a small light from the tip of their wands.

"Well, students! Keep practicing the charm and counter-enchantment for the next class as we will review them before moving on to the next lesson," Professor Flitwick told us as the bell rang, signaling the end of second period classes. After that we left the Charm class and started down to the Great Hall for lunch.

"I still can't believe you got 20 points in your first Charms class!" Anthony told me in awe.

"What can I do? I'm naturally talented" I said proudly, "And besides, I don't even care about House's points" I finished with a shrug.

"Serious?" Terry asked curiously.

"Yes. What are these points for? Win a Hogwarts house competition that doesn't give the champion any prizes other than having the Great Hall decorated in the house color? I think this is absolute idiocy, as it only serves to encourage rivalry and bickering between the houses. And as you yourself saw in the Potions class, teachers aren't all that fair when it comes to giving or withdrawing points," I said. And I saw that Anthony and Terry started mulling over what I said about the house points.

End.
