"where is my dress? Why am I dressed like this? Did you-?" her eyes widened. Somehow, she was agitated, which was so unlike Dahlia. She was usually so calm and composed. But it pleased him to see reactions from her. At least he knew she was a normal person with a good self-control.
"no, I did not. Maya did" It was Dahlia's turn to narrow her eyes.
"who is Maya?"
"my maid." she only nodded but he could see that she was still not totally convinced.
"where is my dress?" instead of replying he took a step back.
"Maya!" he called softly. The door opened a short while later and the maid walked in. yes, why not? A beautiful and sexy maid to serve him. Dahlia thought wanting to roll her eyes.
"yes sir," Eder did not talk anymore. he made a sign to Dahlia to ask.
"where is my dress?" she asked.
"i- in the dressing r-room, Miss" she replied stammering a little. Dahlia immediately walked to the dressing room and started looking for it. She found it hanging on a wall. Before she could grab it, his hand was on it. She turned around and glared at him.
"what is-" she stopped at the proximity she found her face and his in. her lips almost brushed against his.
"why do you seem so agitated, Dahlia?" he asked with his deep voice."are you trying to run away from me?" his gaze never leaving hers.
"stop thinking too high of yourself. You can't scare Dahlia Quinn." she replied.
"you seem so sure of yourself"
"I am sure of my self. Now get off. I need to leave."
"or else? Remember, this is my house"
"but I could still beat you up in your house" she said. A heart stopping smile spread on his lips and he chuckled.
"then why don't you do it?" she did not reply, he tilted his head to one side,"why Dahlia? What are you waiting for?" still she did not reply. His fingers brushed against her face causing her breathing to itch. "why don't you punch me? Huh?Dahlia? tell me to leave you alone, not to touch you..." his voice turned pleading but she was not talking. They held each other's gaze for a while.
"why are your eyes so empty?" Eder asked with a sad tone. Dahlia's demeanor changed immediately and he felt it. She blinked looking away from him."what happened to you?"he asked. His question held a deeper meaning to what happened to her yesterday night. He wanted to know what made her like she was today.
"move. I have to get dressed" she said but Eder did not move. They held their gaze again none of them spoke nor moved. Eder stepped back from her and looked down at her from a few feet away. Dahlia was waiting for him to leave but he didn't. He just stood there and watched her.
"what are you looking at? Leave" she reminded him. Still he didn't move, it was like he was contemplating something. He couldn't understand this woman. He knew more than a bit about women but this one before him was just an enigma. Then he opened his mouth to say something but then a knock echoed.
"go check on the door" she finally spoke. It was the perfect excuse.
They looked at each other for a while before he slowly, walked out of the dressing room. Dahlia sighed out when he left. She really needed to leave. This man was bad for her health.
When Eder opened the door with a dark expression, Maya shivered.
"I am sorry, sir but the woman of last time is here" she said with a shaky voice. Eder's expression became darker. He walked out and closed the door. Though he was angry but he closed the door ever so softly. Then he went to see Dola. She was seating leisurely in the parlor.
"I told you not to come here again" he said grimly.
"good afternoon Eder. I came to take you out" Dola said, lightly.
"when will you understand that I don't want to see you."
"I am your mother Eder. You would want to see me whether you like it or not"
"a mother, when you feel like it. Please leave. I don't want to put you out"
"listen to me son, we can't get back the time that we lost but we can still arrange things" Eder had no patience to listen to her blabbering. He approached her and firmly but gently held her wrist.
"let me show you the way out" he started walking dragging her with him. Dola tried to remove her hand from his grip but to no avail.
"what are you doing? Will you really throw your mother out?" she asked but he didn't stop "Eder wait!" still he didn't stop now they were outside the mansion "Your father wants to see you" Dola finally revealed. She had planned to gain his trust first and then bring him to his father but he was too stubborn. They were standing outside already. Eder stopped when he heard her. He turned and looked at her with a menacing look.
"just like the way I have no mother, I also have no father. Stay both out of my life. I don't ever want to see you again and that man much less." the tone of his voice, his aura and his deadly look made Dola shiver. Her son had really grown and was no more the little boy she could manipulate, she stood their and watched him get into the house. She narrowed her eyes and climbed her car. She had to find another way.
...
When Eder got into the house he was angry. Too angry but a certain scent in the house calmed him down. Dahlia. He went back to his room. Dahlia had changed already and was just done wearing her dress. He knew she must have heard everything. But she had put on her stoic mask again.
"I will take my leave now" she said.
"wait, I.." he did not know what to say. " we need to talk"
"their is nothing to say" she said and walk passed him. He followed her.
"you can't just run away, Dahlia" she stopped and looked back.
"who said I was running away? I just need to leave"
"why?" He asked causing her to frown.
"what do you mean why? I don't live here" she stated the obvious.
"what happened last night, what was it?" he asked with a concern look on his face.
"it is none of your business." she retorted. Eder gave up, at least he tried. He dug his hand in his pocket and handed a car key.
"Your car was left in a bad state. you can use this one in the meanwhile" he explained. Dahlia looked at the key in his palm and then she took it. Once she had taken it, she turned to leave without saying anything else. Eder watched her leave his house and clenched his fist when he realize the effect that her departure from his side had on him.
