Charles

Chapter 10

Queen Maya had just placed Alpha Charles on his throne when a wave of nausea hit her. She clutched her stomach, a hand flying to her mouth as she dashed towards the toilet. The sound of retching echoed through the room, a chilling reminder of her condition. She was pregnant.

Alpha Charles watched her retreating figure, his heart pounding in his chest. Just when he thought he had calmed his racing heart, this happened. His fears and troubles increased tenfold. The memory of the prophecy came rushing back to him which stated that whoever bore him a son would be his Luna.

And now that Queen Maya was carrying a child, how could this have happened? How could he tamper with his favorite Luna's unborn pup?

Alpha Charles was in a state of turmoil. Sweat trickled down his forehead, his eyes blazing with a fury that was rare to see. The revelation of Queen Maya's pregnancy had hit him hard, stirring up a storm of emotions within him.

Queen Maya, after returning from the bathroom, Queen Maya was shocked to see Alpha Charles in such a state. His heart was pounding so hard it was visible through his chest, and he was sweating profusely despite the open windows. The sight of him, so vulnerable and distressed, was a stark contrast to the strong, unyielding Alpha she knew him to be.

"Alpha Charles," she said, rushing to his side. "What's wrong? You're sweating and your heart... it's beating so fast."

But Alpha Charles remained silent, his gaze distant. The revelation of Queen Maya's pregnancy had stirred up a storm within him, a tempest of emotions he was struggling to contain. The prophecy echoed in his mind, its words a haunting reminder of the future that awaited him.

And so, they sat there, in the heart of the palace, their world turned upside down.

Seeing Alpha Charles in such a state, Queen Maya reached out, her hand gently touching his forehead. She could feel the heat radiating off him, a clear sign of his distress.

"Alpha Charles," she said, her voice filled with concern. "You're burning up. Can I get you some water to drink?"

Her words echoed in the room,Seeing that Alpha Charles was not responding, Queen Maya decided to take action. She quickly rose from his side and left the room to fetch some water.

The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the sound of Alpha Charles' labored breathing.

In another part of the palace, Lucas was making his way through the corridor when he was stopped by Ruth and Stella, the same two Alpha Charles' concubines. They were known for their beauty and charm, and they made no effort to hide it. They posed flimsy questions, their actions more of a display to catch his attention.

They were expecting him to be blown away by their looks, to be ensnared by their charm. But Lucas, much to their surprise, turned them down. He was polite but firm, his rejection leaving them both shocked.

Despite Lucas's clear disinterest, Ruth, the more desperate of the two, pressed on. "Where are you headed?" she asked, trying to keep the conversation going.

Lucas, however, was not in the mood for idle chatter. He turned to her, his expression unreadable. "That's none of your business," he responded curtly, leaving no room for further questions.

As Lucas turned to continue his walk, the same cute guy he had noticed earlier passed by him. Lucas couldn't help but take a deep breath, his heart fluttering at the sight of him. He quickly composed himself and continued on his way, his steps steady despite the turmoil within him.

Ruth and Stella watched the exchange from the corner of their eyes, a smirk playing on their lips. "He's just too shy," Ruth commented, her voice filled with amusement.

Stella, however, seemed genuinely curious. "How can a guy be this shy?" she asked Ruth, her eyes still on Lucas's retreating figure.

In the quiet solitude of his chamber, Alpha Charles was in a battle of his own. His body wracked with coughs, he was being tenderly nursed by Queen Maya. He struggled to speak, his words hanging in his throat as if they were too heavy to be voiced. But after a moment of strained silence, he finally managed to utter the words that had been haunting him.

"I saw a revelation of a prophecy," he rasped, his voice barely above a whisper. "It states a son would be born on a dark moon."

Queen Maya, who had been attentively nursing him, paused at his words. A slow smile spread across her face, her heart fluttering with a mix of nervousness and excitement. She thought this was Alpha Charles' way of indirectly acknowledging her pregnancy.

She had been waiting for this moment, for him to say the words. But instead of voicing her thoughts, she simply smiled, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears.

Queen Maya held her breath as Alpha Charles' coughing fit subsided. She gently wiped the sweat from his forehead, her heart aching at his discomfort.

"Rest, my love," she whispered, her voice filled with concern. "You need your strength."

But Alpha Charles shook his head, his eyes filled with a determination that belied his frailty. "No," he rasped, his voice barely audible. "There's more... The prophecy... it also said..."

His voice trailed off as another bout of coughing seized him. Queen Maya could only watch helplessly, her heart pounding in her chest. She had so many questions, but she knew she had to be patient. It was one question at a time, and right now, Alpha Charles needed to rest. She would wait for him to gather his strength, and then, they would unravel the prophecy together.

Queen Maya saw Alpha Charles lean his head to the side, his eyes fluttering closed. His breathing was shallow, but steady. She knew he was trying to gather his strength, trying to fight the illness that was ravaging his body.

She reached out, her fingers gently brushing his cheek. "I'm here," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "We'll get through this together."

As she watched him, she couldn't help but think about the prophecy. A son born on a dark moon... What could it mean? And what else was there in the prophecy that Alpha Charles hadn't yet revealed?

But then she just has to wait for the answers. For now, all she could do was be there for Alpha Charles, offering him her unwavering support and love.
