Chapter 20: Bloody cathedral

Those eyes belonged to the weakest of the fairies in this dungeon. The 'dried blood fairies'.

Screech....

Screech.....

The whole room was littered with these monsters, screeching and rushing towards me, their only prey and their chance to advance into stronger forms.

I was like a blood bag filled to the brim with rejuvenating blood, a kind of panacea for these monsters. The way they were battling against each other, killing each other without any remorse displayed their title as 'bloodthirsty' monsters to its full glory.

The scene in front of me was chaotic as these monsters were starting to bloody massacre each other just to get the chance to drink my blood as if I were some weak lamb while they were the strongest wolves in their pack.

But they were mistaken, I wasn't some weak lamb at their mercy, I was also a ruthless tiger on a hunt, killing anyone that comes on my way. I had lived a ferocious life since I was seven, the age that shapes a person's future in terms of their beliefs and behavior. And I wasn't some cultured saint who would let others take advantage of me for some idiotic reasons.

Looking at some quick-witted monsters that were coming towards me rather than killing each other, I took the longsword from my back, readied my stance, and flung myself towards those fairies.

Squelch.…

Screech….

My sword decapitated the fairy drenching me in its blood. Another one was ready to attack me from behind, ready to attack me while I was distracted but, I wasn't an easy target either. I swung my blade while spinning 360 degrees, killing every fairy that was surrounding me.

" Oh… these fairies are good at rejuvenating the fatigue." I was shocked as I could feel the blood spilled on me slowly healing my fatigue although I wasn't really feeling it right now.

The 'Rune of Stealth' wasn't of any work here as I was totally covered with blood belonging to these monsters from head to toe. These monsters could sense the blood of their brethren getting spilled making them even more aggressive in their attacks.

The battle happening beside me became even more chaotic, blog spilling in liters. Although these fairies looked small, but the blood they spilled was enough to fill a small pool of water much to my surprise as I had never entered the cathedral even though I had been to this dungeon for around three times with other raid parties. They would just let me stay outside, and deal with fairies before letting me inside to collect the monster core.

By the time I entered the cathedral, all the bodies belonging to fairies would have disappeared, leaving only sparkling monster cores, ready to be collected.

Now I looked at the blood seeping into the ground, disappearing without any trace as if some monster hidden under the cathedral was absorbing the blood, leaving nothing in its wake.

"No wonder, only monster Core was left, it was because this cathedral would absorb all the blood spilled in the ground which disintegrated the bodies of fairies in the process." I had a somewhat serious expression on my face as I didn't know where the blood would go.

" Would it get recycled to spawn blood fairies when other adventurers enter this dungeon?"

"Or, was there something I didn't know about? Not yet, but I would definitely know it soon."

The chamber was chaotic with the battle taking place everywhere, and blood spilling everywhere and I felt a sense of excitement looking at the monster cores whose amount was growing as time passed. It was money that would help me in my endeavor.

The atmosphere was chaotic but I was tranquil with my blade killing any fairies that came in its path. I was feeling somewhat lethargic as the time passed by but the blood that had drenched me was rejuvenating me, slowly relieving me from my fatigue.

My body was still filled with power, the slashes I made with my Blade slowly getting swift and decisive, and even my stance was getting refined, it was slowly getting enhanced to suit my fighting style, getting culminated in my combat Art.

My blade didn't stop even for a second, slashing the fairies that were coming at me. I was slashing, hacking, and swinging my blade as my will. It truly was chaotic, even I didn't know what my next move would be.

The blood from the fairies had created a layer of bloody armor on me, which was slowly rejuvenating my body in the process. I had been able to stand till now because of the rejuvenating ability of blood these monsters had and the sheer willpower that wasn't letting me stop for a second.

Slash….

Screech….

I might have killed several hundreds of monsters before the whole chamber was cleared, monster cores sparkling like jewels filling the whole room. I stayed in this room for almost two hours, meditating and letting the blood do its job. After meditating for about an hour and a half, I was back to my normal form, ready to battle and kill more monsters.

But I spent half an hour collecting every monster core here as I was going to need a large amount of money to purchase stacks of paper made from monster hide to train my scribbling skills. Also, I wanted to purchase a house in one of the wealthiest areas in this town because my legacy might give me trouble if anybody saw it, and the wonders it did.

————————————————————

Second floor...

I arrived at the second floor after walking the silent corridor for about five seconds. This time, the corridor was filled with dead bodies belonging to crimson blood fairies that were stronger than. Dried blood ones.

The door in front of me was made up of copper, a tint of green that could be seen on its surface, reminiscent of its history. The bloodlust here had nearly solidified into a tangible maw, ready to destroy anything trying to enter the chamber. This time I was ready and was able to deal with it before it could mess with my psyche like the previous time.

Fwoosh….

Taking a deep breath, I entered the chamber behind the door.

Creak…..

————————————————————————

Monster: Crimson blood fairy

Tier: 1(uncommon)

————————————————————————-

The fairies here were slightly bigger than the 'Dried blood' ones. Their crimson-red body and scarlet eyes reminded anyone of their ferociousness. Their razor-sharp fangs, dripping with crimson blood painted a picture of dread and death.

As soon as I entered the room, I was suppressed by the tangible bloodlust they were emanating from their bodies. Their scarlet eyes locked into me, screeches of thirst and the powerful scent of ammonia, it was a deadly situation that I was forced into.

Screech….

Screech…

Every fairy In the chamber flung themselves towards me, with none battling against one another. I was also ready with my blade, Nightmare ready to be taken out from my body at will.

This time, I didn't throw myself at them but tried to read their movement, trying to know their flight patterns as it could be a great game changer once the battle started. The ' Rune of Insight' was working overtime, filling me with insights regarding the monsters that I was surrounded by.

My back was pressed against the door from where I entered while there were fairies surrounding me from three sides, and my mind was filled with information regarding the environment I was thrown into.

Although the situation was tense, I was able to calm my heart and readied myself for the battle that would be fought by me, in the room filled with hundreds of monsters that were after my blood.

"Let's go"

I motivated myself before swinging the longsword, slashing the fairies that were coming towards Me. Their aggressive attacks were slightly scratching me as they weren't able to break through my runic equipment(Long coat) at all, less injuring me with their tiny claws, but the Blood splattered on me was slowly healing even the scratches left by their attacks.

" Isn't it a free potion??" I couldn't help but wonder as the blood from ' Dried Blood Fairy' helped me rejuvenate my mind from fatigue while the blood from ' Crimson Blood Fairy' was slowly healing me.

"Then, Why was this dungeon not as famous as the Zorat dungeon??" I didn't have time to ponder this question as the fairies now started attacking with even more aggression, even my Runic coat was having a hard time protecting me with their frenzied attacks.

They had coated their hands in crimson red blood, adding a layer of mana in their claws and attacking me. I could feel my blood boiling, getting out of my control every time their claws scratched me.

The fascinating yet scary thing was, that their attacks infused with blood were bypassing the defense of my equipment and directly messing with the blood flowing through my body, stimulating the blood and making it rampage throughout my body.

No wonder this dungeon was not as famous as the Zorat one. The monsters here were totally different breeds with the ability to manipulate your blood. Although they required using their skills, and the manipulative power was less, it was still an absurd attack to deal with.

Swishh....

Screech....

Every slash I've made with the blade took the life of several fairies in succession. The amount of monster core already piling into several small mounds. These cores were larger than the ones I had collected from the 'Dry blood' fairies.

Hahh.... Hahh....

Looking at the chamber filled with monster cores, I took a long, deep breath, trying to regulate my breathing, which had been chaotic while battling these monsters. My body was in pain from all the movements I had to make in order to dodge them and swing my blade to kill them, but I was exhilarated.

The fact that someone who had awakened some time ago was able to kill these monsters all by themselves, and the ordeal it entailed, was exciting me.

''I was someone in my one league." I thought as I looked at the mound of monster cores that were sparkling with luster, attracting me towards them. But my body wasn't budging even an inch.

I could only meditate and focus on recovering from the fatigue and injuries that had accumulated during the intense battle.

''Also, These cores weren't going anywhere."

So, I took my time and only started collecting the monster cores after I had totally recovered, which took me around three hours this time because I was required to kill every monster in this chamber without getting a breathing period. I was even forced to use several 'Light bombs' and 'Nightmare' while battling earlier to get myself away from getting flooded by these monsters.

"It was a tough battle but I was able to become victorious."

Looking at the chamber that was now totally vacant, I nodded my head with satisfaction before moving towards the last chamber housing the Boss of this Dungeon.

"Please, let the monster be killed by other parties already." I prayed as I moved towards the last chamber as I was still mentally exhausted, even after meditating for about three hours in the chamber housing the 'Crimson Blood Fairies'.
