“Well, you’ve still got Cam and me and the others. We’ll be okay until Nick gets back on his feet.” With that, Ralphie quietly left for Nick’s house.23
Cameron had it all written down on the paper. Everything she remembered that had happened in the past three days; what people had said and what they’d done, all noted and charted like a map. There were lines connecting people and events and places. She looked it over for the umpteenth time.
“Do you see anything I’m missing?” she asked Ralphie, who stood in his usual place behind the bar. He looked over the sheet of paper.
“Nope. I think you got it all.” The bar was almost empty this early in the afternoon but would start filling up as customers got off work.
Cam looked at the clock: 2:57. This was going to be another long day. The shower had given her a lift and woken her up, but that was three hours ago and now the effects of the shower were beginning to fade.
