Leaving the City

Arriving close to the gate, James decided that his was a good place to wait for Loraine's arrival. If he would move a bit closer, he would get the attention of the guards, which would form difficulty for him. Therefore it was better to wait a bit back, behind the gate.

Looking around, James started to become nervous about his sudden decision. Moreover Loraine was not approaching at all. Various thoughts started to get into his mind, "Would Loraine be able to leave undetected? What if she gets caught? Will they still be able to meet each other?"

With every second that passed, the thoughts became even worse, "What if Loraine encountered danger on her way here?" James could not help himself from forming thousands of scenarios in his head. The wait for Loraine felt as if a lifetime was passing by. He even started to regret his sudden decision to flee the city with Loraine.

Just as James could not help himself anymore and decided to head into the direction of the Bloom family, he saw a horse approaching towards the gate. Taking a closer look at the person riding the horse, James saw that it was a small hooded figure. Clearly this was a female figure that was approaching.

Feeling a bit reassured, James made his way to the approaching figure. As he got closer, he was taken aback that it was not Loraine that was approaching. Instead it was someone else. Clearly James was the target of this person as she knew the meeting point of James and Loraine.

"I take it that you are James?" the hooded female asked. After James nodded his head, she continued, "I am Kara, a close friend of Loraine. She was being followed when she left the mansion. Therefore she had to change direction and came to me. She is waiting for you at my place. If you hurry now, you will be able to make it out of the city before the sun rises."

Hearing those words, James understood why it took Loraine so long. Without any thought he said, "Lead the way!"

As Kara was heading towards her house, James thanked Kara for her help. Looking at James, Kara said, "No need to thank me. Just make sure that you don't hurt Loraine."

Forming up a smile, James nodded at what she said.

As the two finally arrived at the homestead of Kara, Loraine was waiting for them at the garden. Seeing James, she rushed over to him. There was a worried look on her face. Speaking up, Loraine said, "I was worried that we would be caught. I had to change my direction in order to avoid the one following me."

Understanding what Loraine said James replied jokingly, "You did the right thing. You are even smarted than I left." Thinking for a while, he asked, "Should we leave now? Is it clear for us to go? I did not see anyone around when we got here."

Looking at James, Loraine mounted her horse before thanking Kara one more time for her help. With that, the couple made their way to a different gate. This one was the farthest of the bloom family's mansion. Therefore it would be the safest to use to get out of the city.

Before they got out, they got asked a few simple questions by the patrolling guards before they finally made their way into the unknown. Leaving behind the towering walls of the King's City behind them.
