Level Up

Miles had already had an idea about the system that the others have based on the articles and information from the internet. However, this was little compared to the real one in front of him and he knew that the ones on the internet were just starting details.

'Assassin and shielder. These two ladies have these classes?'

'This timid Michelle is a frontliner? Unbelievable.'

From what he knew, the assassin class should have high speed and attack damage with stealth skills. Meanwhile, shielder class moves in front to tank damage from the enemies and defend the backline of the team.

"So what are your plans now?" He asked.

The two looked at each other before nodding.

"Of course we want to follow you. If that is alright with you." Michelle said.

"I'm fine with it. But I'm going to the upper floors and kill zombies first. It might become dangerous so just wait here until I get back later." Miles stood up and was ready to leave.

"Wait." Julia stopped him.

"Yes?"

"I want to come with you." she said seriously. "I also want to kill zombies and level up."

Miles raised his brows. "Are you sure?"

"Yes!"

Seeing her resolve, Miles nodded. 'If that's what she wants, then fine. And it's better than being a burden to me. If she levels up, she could be a help to me.'

"Then I also want to come with you!" Michelle raised her hand. She was clenching her other fist tightly.

Miles didn't refuse her and agreed.

He then looked around the room and took some notebooks and long sleeve shirts he found in the cabinet.

"Wear these clothes and tape these notebooks in your arms." The two did what he said.

"This is a spear I made. You're an assassin so you might have a hard time using it." He handed the spear to Julia.

"You can have my bat, Michelle." He gave the bat to Michelle.

"Thank you!"

"Just stay close to me." Miles said.

He held the fireman's axe and led the two outside.

They used the stairs to get to the fifth floor.

There they found their first zombie, a young man who looked like he was a student.

"Here it is. You've read the articles about zombies, right? Just hit them in their heads and that would do the work." Miles said as he swung his axe down the head of the zombie.

Splat!

Its head was split open then it dropped to the ground.

The two ladies saw the scene and Michelle couldn't help it and vomited. Julia covered her mouth but endured it.

"Are you alright?" He asked Michelle.

"I'm fine now. Let's go."

They entered the fifth floor and there were about twenty zombies roaming the hallway.

"Alright, let's move."

The three walked in a triangle position with Miles in front, Julia and Michelle on the left and right respectively.

"Hey!" Miles shouted and attracted the zombies. Julia and Michelle held their weapons tightly.

The first five zombies reached them.

Miles killed the three easily without even using Heavy Strike.

He let Julia and Michelle deal with the other two.

Miles saw the spear Julia was holding glow a bit before she stabbed the head of the zombie. It penetrated the skull easily, killing the zombie permanently.

'Oh, a skill.' Miles thought. He was not surprised about it but seeing it the first time still amazes him.

Meanwhile, Michelle held her bat and it also glowed a bit before she swung it towards the head of the zombie.

Splat!

The head exploded and Miles and Julia were surprised.

"Woah!"

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't know that this skill is that strong."

'Yeah. That was strong. The system is amazing. Even these two ladies could be this strong.' Miles thought.

The two ladies took a deep breath before they continued to kill the remaining zombies.

"Oh, I levelled up." Michelle said.

"Yeah, me too." Julia added.

"Well, that's great." Miles was glad for them. Although he let them have a few points, he was still happy to help the two ladies who were determined to get stronger.

The three of them checked the rooms and found no survivors.

After that, they walked towards the stairs leading to the rooftop. There, they saw the bloodied door and some signs of fighting. The door was locked too.

"Maybe, they are on the other side?" Miles said.

"Probably. But some of the ones that we…killed…were the people that ran with us." Michelle said.

"Let's check it anyway." Julia said.

Miles knocked on the door but there was no answer. He kicked it open and entered the rooftop.

"Well, there's nothing here." Miles said as he turned around .

He went back to the fifth floor with the ladies and decided to spend the night there. It was already beginning to get dark outside.

They cooked some ham, bacon and egg that they found a while ago and made some sandwiches for themselves.

"Miles." Michelle called after dinner.

"Yes?"

"Uhmm. You play games, right?" she asked.

"Well, a bit yeah. Why?"

"Could you please help me? I levelled up once but I don't know where to spend my status points." she explained.

"Oh those status points. How many do you have?" he asked.

"I have three status points and one skill point." Michelle answered. "Do I have to show you my character window? It's fine with me."

"Well, you..do you trust me that much?" Miles asked with a chuckle.

Michelle nodded. "Yes. I trust you." She did some gestures in the air but frowned.

"I can't share it with you." Michelle tilted her head in confusion.

Miles coughed a few times. "Just put 2 in defense and 1 in strength. What skills do you have?"

"I have three. Self Shield, Block and Heavy Slash." she replied even with a little bit of confusion about what happened.

"Hmm..Put it in your Self Shield first."

"I understand." Michelle was an obedient lady and did what she was told.

'3 status points and 1 skill points per level up..Hmm..strength and defense is present too.' Miles thought.

Julia looked at her friend and turned to Miles.

"Could you give me some advice too?" she asked.

"Sure. You're an assassin, right. Put it 2 on speed and 1 on strength."

"Okay." Julia nodded.

'Speed is there too."

"I have three skills too. Deep Puncture, Fast Movements and Stealth." Julia revealed.

"Put it on Deep Puncture." Miles said.

'They trust me so much but I couldn't fully trust them now. The world is full of players with a system. I don't know what will happen to someone like me. I feel a bit bad but I need to be careful.'

"Just remember to not reveal it to anyone else. I'm already burdened by the fact that you revealed your skills to me. I will check the exit before I sleep. Lock your doors just in case. If you need anything, I will be at the room nearest to the exit. Let's depart at 6 am tomorrow and search for survivors. Is that alright?" Miles said.

The two nodded.

"It's fine with us. Thank you again, Miles. You're a great help to us." Michelle said with a gentle smile.

"Thank you." Julia said.

Miles smiled and left the room.

Julia locked the door and turned to her friend.

"Can we really trust him?" she asked.

Michelle smiled. "I don't know but I feel like I can trust him. Plus, didn't help us today?"

"But what if that is just his front. What if he does something bad to us later?" Julia asked.

"Then, blame me for that. I'll take responsibility for it because I trusted him." Michelle responded.

Julia sighed. "I won't blame you because I also trust him."

"Really? Then why didn't you tell him about that skill of yours?"

"Ahem. Of course, a woman should not reveal everything in the first meeting." Julia explained. "What about you? You are willing to show him your character window but you still told him only three."

"Hehe. I want to suddenly surprise him with that skill." Michelle giggled.

"Whatever." Julia began preparing for a shower.

"But why can't I share my character window with him?" Michelle wondered.

"Maybe he didn't accept it?"

"...Well..maybe." Michelle replied.

"He has his secrets too. We shouldn't pry too much because he might leave us." Julia went to the bathroom.

"Right."

Meanwhile, Miles went to the room closest to the exit after checking that it was locked.

He took a shower and cleaned his gear while recalling all the information that he had obtained.

However, there was something troubling him the moment he met Julia and Michelle.

Above their heads, just like the zombies, was a number.

[ 5 ]

[ 5 ]

These were their first numbers and it changed into 10 when they levelled up. For humans, their points increase by five for each level.

Miles sighed and massaged his temples.

"I can also get points not only if I kill zombies but humans."

"A player killer? Hah…"

"I don't know what will happen later on but I feel like that is inevitable."

"I'll worry about it later."

"Reaching 1,000 points is harder than I imagined. I should take my chances in the 100 point range first."
