Enraged

Miles stared at the approaching zombies while checking the numbers above their heads.

Most of them still have 1 but there are few who have 2.

He dashed forwards and slashed the zombies in front of him.

Swish.

Three of his targets died instantly.

A few steps away from him, Julia and Michelle were also doing a good job in killing the zombies.

Julia's movements were fast and could strike a zombie multiple times in a short amount of time. However, there was a little awkwardness in her movements with the spear. As an assassin, having a long weapon was not suited for her.

Michelle activated his Heavy Slash a few times and when there were zombies trying to wound her, she used Self Shield to protect herself.

Miles continued to attack while also checking on the ladies.

They moved with ease and came close to the entrance of the faculty dorm in just half an hour.

Raahh!!

Then, a loud and long scream sounded from afar.

The zombies stopped for a second and in the next one, their eyes went bloodshot as they sprinted towards the trio.

"Damn it! Go inside the building!" Miles shouted.

Julia and Michelle did what he said. They found the stairs towards the second floor and opened it.

Miles was far behind them holding the enraged zombies.

'Heavy Strike!'

His axe swept against the zombies and killed multiple of them in an instant.

However, more came to him.

Once again, he activated the skill and split the zombies into halves.

Then, a zombie grabbed his arm and pulled it.

"Bastard!"

Miles pulled his arm with his strength and threw the zombie away.

Swish!

The body flew and it hit a tree, thirty meters away.

He swung his axe again and again, activating the Heavy Strike for every blow.

The red eyed zombies were still coming at him.

'Damn!'

Last time, he used the skill Heavy Strike twelve times and his body began to hurt.

Now, he has activated it more than thirty times and his muscles are starting to tear apart.

'When will it end?!'

About a minute after the roar was heard, the zombies lost their blood lust and returned to their normal state.

Miles used this time to finish the remaining zombies. Although his body was hurt, he endured it and killed the zombies.

"Miles!" Michelle shouted from afar.

They came out of the building and helped him finish the zombies.

After clearing the zombies, they finally entered the building.

They did not stay on the first floor but directly went to the second floor.

Julia and Michelle did most of the killing of the zombies there.

After making sure that there were no more zombies around, they can finally check the rooms for survivors.

Miles leaned on the wall and slowly sat on the floor. He was really tired and his body was hurt.

"Miles, are you alright?" Michelle asked in concern. She was sweating a lot and breathing hard.

He smiled. "I'm fine. Just tired."

"I'm sorry. We could not help you deal with those zombies.." Michelle said in a low voice.

"It's fine. You would've died if you fought them."

"But what are those zombies? They suddenly changed after that scream." Michelle asked.

Miles pondered and replied. "There should be a zombie out there that could make these zombies berserk. It should be at a higher level than those normal zombies we were fighting."

"Oh so that's why those normal zombies turned into enraged zombies." Michelle said.

"Mm. Those zombies are stronger than normal and you will have a hard time fighting them so just leave them to me if that happens again."

"Alright. Sorry to be a burden." She apologized.

Miles just waved his hands. "Nah. Just a little thing."

Julia approached them and spoke. "Leave the checking of rooms to us. Just rest for a while."

She too, was sweating and tired but their condition was better than Miles who fought those enraged zombies.

Miles wanted to refuse her but his body was hurting so much he just nodded.

"I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you next time." Miles smiled bitterly. He was the one who suggested they check the rooms together but he was the one not doing it so he felt bad.

Julia shook her head. "We should be the one sorry. If we're as strong as you, we would be able to help you. But…" she clenched her fist tightly and bit her lips.

Michelle sighed and stood up.

"We're going to check the rooms. We'll be back in a moment." Then she grabbed Julia's arm and dragged her away.

Miles sat there as they left. He performed the Serene River Meditation. It would not heal his body but at least, his body would have the energy to move again.

Meanwhile, Julia and Michelle moved towards the farthest room and will make their way to the other side.

"Are you upset?" Michelle asked her friend.

Julia sighed. "You know that I hate it when I feel like I'm being useless. I just let Miles do all the work with those enraged zombies."

Michelle lightly pinched her waist. "What are you saying? If you're useless, then I'm more useless. Plus, we did what we could."

"But I don't want to just stand while others are fighting for my sake.."

"Then we should get stronger." Michelle smiled.

Julia finally smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. Let's do that."

She checked the door if it was locked and it was.

"Is there someone in?" she asked after knocking.

When no one answered for a minute, she kicked the door open.

Bam!

The door fully opened.

"Woah. That is amazing, Julia!"

"Yeah. I'm not able to do that before. This system is amazing."

The two of them walked in with caution and inspected each corner of the room together. There were many books on the shelf and folders on the table.

The faculty's rooms were bigger than those of the students'. They have a small kitchen, separate study room and a bigger bathroom.

Julia and Michelle did not find anyone in the room.

"Let's take the food that we can carry." Julia suggested. They were looking at the fridge and the cabinet in the kitchen. There was still electricity so the freezers were still functioning and the meats were still preserved.

"We won't be able to carry all this food. The meat will quickly spoil the moment we take it out from the freezer." Julia said.

"Then, should we just put them in one place and take them back later. It's not like we can just leave them here for others to take." Michelle suggested.

"But if someone finds them, we will lose all of it."

"Oh, you're right. So what do we do with them?" Michelle asked.

"Uhm..we eat them now?" Julia said.

"Hmm. That's good too." Michelle agreed.

"Yeah. I miss your cooking."

Michelle smiled. "And we can give Miles something. But we should search the other rooms for ingredients first."

The two of them scanned each room and took what they could.

Unfortunately, they did not find any survivors on the second floor.

However, Julia finally found a decent weapon for her class.

It was two knives that she can use as daggers.

"I'm more comfortable holding these." she commented while playing with the knives.

They went back to Miles who was still sitting in a lotus position.

"Miles, we're back." Michelle said.

He opened his eyes and saw their full backpacks.

"It looks like you found good stuff in there." he smiled.

Michelle nodded. "We found good ingredients and we can cook something good later."

His ears perked. "Oh, that's good."

Although they were eating good meals, having hot and fully prepared food was still different.

"And I also found something that suits me so I'll give back your spear. Thank you for lending it to me." Julia showed her knives and returned the spear to Miles.

"That's also good." Miles took the spear and placed it on the side.

"Let's rest a bit more before we move to the next floor."

Half an hour later, the three stood up and moved to the stairs leading to the third floor.

The faculty dormitory has three floors and one rooftop. Miles hoped that he could find other survivors.

"Hmm..?" Miles saw that the door of the third floor was locked.

He tried to push it with force but it didn't move.

"Something is blocking the door on the other side," he said.

"Oh, then maybe survivors?" Michelle asked.

He nodded. "Probably. They might've closed it to protect themselves from zombies."

"Are we going in?" Julia asked.

"Of course. My friends might be with them."

"Friends?" Michelle asked.

"Oh, I haven't told you. I'm trying to find my friends. Here, have you seen any of them?" Miles showed them a picture of him together with David, Sammy and Jason.

"No. Sorry, we haven't seen them."

"It's fine."

"I hope they are still alive." Michelle said.

"I hope so. I haven't seen a zombie like them so they might be alive somewhere on campus."

Julia then asked. "So, how are we going to open that door?"

"We should knock first."

Knock knock

Miles banged the door.

"Is someone in there?"

A few minutes later, a voice sounded from the other side.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Miles. And you are?"

"...William."

"Then, William. Are you alright?"

"Yes."

"Oh…" Miles suddenly didn't know what to say.

"..Do you have something to eat?" William asked.

Miles looked at the women to know their opinion and they just nodded.

"We have the frozen meat we got from the second floor. We can share them with you."

"Oh! That's good! Thank you! Thank you!" William's voice was full of excitement. It then changed to serious the next second.

"Second floor? It's full of zombies from what I know. How did you pass by that floor?

"Of course, we killed our way through." Miles answered.

"Are you bitten?" William asked.

"No. Me and my two companions are fine."

"...That's good news..really."

A few moments later a rummaging sound was heard from the other side.

Then, the door opened and a tall man in his late twenties greeted Miles.
