In a ruined building of what used to be a convenience store dogs could be seen scrapping among themselves for expired food. The year 2048 could be seen on the expiration tag as it's torn apart and devoured by the starving dogs. Two silent gunshots could be heard as the dogs fell to the ground. Blood is leaking from their head as a young boy walks up to them. His attire consisted of a tactical vest and dirt military clothes. A silenced m4 slung on his shoulder, a pistol holstered to his side and a knife tied around his chest. He kneels next to one of the dogs and starts stripping whatever meat it has left on its bones, wrapping them in bandages before storing them in a bag he has on his back. He does it to the other dog before walking away. A huge wall could be seen in the very far distance with spotlights scanning the surroundings. Huge turrets were mounted above the spotlights.
The boy continued moving through the ruined roads and broken-down cars before ducking into cover. Voices could be heard in front of him.
"God dammit, why the hell did base have to send us so far out. Ravagers are more frequent this far out!"
"Stop your complaining, if you know that they could be near us then you need to be more composed."
The man went quiet after hearing his refutal but the silent grumblings could still be heard. The boy turned around and snuck into a building while remaining in his cover. Sneaking up onto the second floor he peeked out to scan for them again. The two men could be seen standing at a 4-way intersection while smoking some cigarettes. He was too far to hear them now but he could tell the man was just grumbling on again. Taking a knee he pulled off his backpack and reached in. Pulling out a scope he unmounted the sight on the m4 before attaching the scope. Aiming it down at them he steadied his breathing.
*Phew phew*
2 shots again and both of the men fell to the ground. Reattaching the sight he went down to start looting the bodies. When he made it their he could see that one was still breathing. Pulling out his pistol he walked up to the man and aimed at his forehead.
"Where is this camp?"
The boys voice could be heard, no emotion could be felt and his eyes just made him feel even colder. The man he was speaking to was the guy who kept grumbling about being sent out so far. His voice was shaky as he responded.
"Why should I tell you... you're going to kill me anyway."
"If you tell me ill patch you up in exchange for your ammo."
The man had a light go through his eyes as he thought about it for a moment.
"Theirs a map in my friend's pocket, it has the locations of our base marked on it as well as the patrol lines that we have sent out. Now about our de-"
*Bang*
Holstering his pistol, the boy started searching his body. Grabbing his ammo and stripping his rifle for any useful parts. He did the same for the other body and grabbed the map. Looking at it he dug into his backpack before taking out an old camera. He took a picture before throwing the map away. He dug even more into his backpack and pulled out a notebook. Flipping through the pages, multiple pictures of maps could be seen with red x's over them. He got to an empty page and taped the picture there. Putting everything back in the bag he continued along the route he memorized from the map with his m4 in his hands.
A couple of hours later the boy could be seen sneaking along the highway. The patrols of random people have begun to be more frequent as he got closer to their base. He has killed a total of 12 people since he found the map. In the distance, he can see smoke rising up from behind an abandoned apartment building. Walking into the building he made his way up the stairs after slinging his rifle over his shoulder. With a combat knife in hand, he slowly made his way to the roof. Getting to the door he slowly opened it up and peeked out. A singular person could be seen pacing back and forth with a rifle in his hand. Sneaking behind an air conditioning unit he waited for the man to turn around. Rounding the corner he rushed towards him and sliced the back of his leg. Wrapping his hand around his mouth he sliced across his neck before letting him fall forward to the ground.
Grabbing the rifle he took the scope off of it and attached it to his own rifle. Reaching into his backpack he pulled out the same notebook and opened it to the page he put the map in. A picture of a woman could be seen as he took it out and set it on the ground. Aiming the rifle at the camp he started looking.
*In the camp*
Inside a huge tent, a woman could be seen leaning over a map of a huge city. The words EDEN could be seen in the bottom right. 4 men could be seen right in front of her. They were discussing amongst themselves as she pointed at various points of the wall. A couple of hours later the light had disappeared from the sky. The 4 men stood up and gathered their stuff.
"Have a good night Ms. Slater."
The women nodded to them as they made their way out of the tent. The woman stood there for a while looking over the map before grabbing a pack of cigarettes and walking out of the tent. She pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. She looked around at the people wandering around the camp before noticing the building that the boy was mounted on. Not seeing the man patrolling anymore she looked a bit closer. A look came upon her face before she dodged into cover.
*BANG*
A bullet hit her side as she yells out.
"INTRUDER!!!!"
*Back on the roof*
The boy made a grimace as he aimed down again. The woman dashed her way toward the building as bullets ricocheted around her. Other people started making their way towards the building with her but were killed with 1 shot to the head each. Throwing his rife down he turned around but his pistol was knocked away. Dodging down the women missed her punch before the boy made a punch at her gut. Pushing her away he pulled out his knife and looked her in the eyes. She looked back as she also pulled out a knife. Standing there for a couple of seconds they rushed toward each other before swiping and dodging multiple hits. The woman however did something he didn't expect. Dodging back she threw the knife at him before rushing forward and delivering a blow to his neck. Falling to the ground he threw up before she pulled out her pistol and knocked him out.
A couple hours later he woke up. A rope was tied around his waist to a metal chair put against the wall. A light was hanging from the ceiling in front of him, people could be heard all around him. A couple minutes later the woman walked up with a chair in hand. Sitting it down with a loud clang everyone went silent.
"Are you here to kill me?"
Her smooth eloquent voice sounded throughout the quiet space. The boy looked at her with his cold red eyes. With a smile he slowly replied.
"I am here to kill an Amaya Slater."
Gasps and voices could be heard all around him at the mention of her full name.
"Who hired you and from what camp are you from."
"The mission was commissioned by the city of Eden and I am affiliated with no camp."
A man could be heard in the distance as a chair could be heard falling over.
"You cant be serious, the city of Eden doesn't affiliate themselves with any ravagers!"
Agreements could be heard among the people as the man sat himself back down. Amaya was looking down in thought before finally asking another question.
"What is your name?"
The boys smile vanished as his gaze darkened. With an emotionless tone filled with poison he answered.
"I... don't.... know."
She looks into his eyes as he says this before standing up and turning around.
*SNAP*
The boy launched from his seat rushing towards her. Turning around she delivers an elbow to the right side of his face. Guns cocking around him he stopped and stood still. Amaya looked down at him as she kneeled over.
"How about we hire you for a job."
The boy looked at her and replied.
"Only one job at a time."
She sighs and stands back up motioning for someone in the darkness. A tall man walks forward with a bag over his face, holes cut for the eyes were the only noticeable thing on it. Walking up he grabbed the boy by the arm before hitting him in the face knocking him out cold.
