Rise to Fall

Jason was a hard-working young man and avid reader of WebNovels who had a solid routine. Wake up, Eat, Work, Read WebNovels, Sleep. Wake up the next day and repeat. One day, on his way to work, he finds a purple jewel that attracts him deeply. That same day, he kills himself in a strange way by jumping from the building where he lived. When he woke up, Jason found himself in a vast expanse of black void, lost and confused. His confusion didn't last long, as a figure soon appeared on the horizon and introduced himself to him as God. After a few setbacks and a curse attached to him, Jason is sent to Ukrat, a magical world of infinite possibilities. This world is going through its Ascensionist Age, an age where it is possible to ascend to a literal God. Thrown into this world, Jason has only his three requests granted to him by the God and a powerful purple energy to try to keep up with the absurd geniuses that are born left and right every day, explore ruins lost in the depths of history, deal with crazy legacies, survive his curse and survive this era where danger comes even from his own shadow. Ignorant, Jason remains unaware that the intriguing webs woven by a God are stronger and more complicated than they seem. Only fate will tell which is stronger, his will or the ropes that manipulate him. ------- This is a slow story. It will take me as long and as many words per chapter as it takes to properly write what I want to convey to you, my readers.

Meeting a God [5]

"How did I get here?" I asked my first question.

The God answered as soon as I had finished speaking: "I'll sum it up for you. You died. More specifically, you killed yourself." He paused before continuing.

"You were an avid reader of WebNovels who lived more in the world of fantasy than in the real world. Your crazy obsession with miraculous fantasy worlds that could give you infinite power led you to jump off a building while screaming in your mind asking to be 'isekai'ed'. Really pathetic."

"Pathetic, I agree. But if I'm here it's proof that it worked, isn't it?" I questioned, I need to know exactly how I got here, what happened before doesn't matter much to me.

"You're wrong. The fact is, on any other day, you'd be dead, your soul and your mold would go to Samsara and that would be the end of it." He said as he laughed, making me frown.

"But you see, I was bored and needed something to entertain me, I thought it would be interesting to see an idiot like you suffer in a world you always wanted, so I took your mold and your soul from Samsara and brought them here in the Void and waited for you to wake up to make your wish come true."

"Who knew you'd be so bold as to call a god a demon? One thing led to another and now we're here." He finished slowly, giving me space to continue my questions.

I stopped to think for a moment, knowing more about what's going on with this God could be beneficial for me, something that could cause problems for a God is definitely not simple.

Another thing I don't understand is why he doesn't just erase me from existence and take care of his problems, he's a God, wouldn't that be easy for him?

What is a mold? Sigh, so many questions...

Taking a deep breath, I elaborated: "I still don't understand, if you're a God, why don't you get rid of me and get on with your business? What could possibly make you rush to deal with me at once?"

"That's not how it works, the universe has laws and even a God is subject to them. Getting you out of Samsara has imposed some of those laws on me."

Looking thoughtful, he continued: "What problems have arisen? Don't ask what you shouldn't know."

In the last half of his sentence, I felt a pressure from him on me. The truth is that, for some reason, it couldn't affect me, but I pretended that it did.

"Urrghh..." I bent over a little to look more real and moaned softly.

After a while, the pressure eased and he fell silent, which I recognized as my cue to ask. Catching my breath, I continued my questioning.

"Where will I be sent?"

Immediately, he began to explain.

"You will be sent to Ukrat, a magical world with at least a quintillion mortal years. This world is a giant even by the standards of the universe, it's impossible to calculate how much bigger it is compared to the planet you came from, Earth. There are many races on it, many cultures and traditions, both old and new."

He paused so that I could absorb what he was saying. When I thought I had understood everything, I nodded at him and he continued: "Ukrat is going through what they call the Ascensionist Age, in this age, mana is exuberant in the atmosphere, genies are born every day, monsters get stronger, ruins from the past are often found and much more."

"In this era, it is possible to ascend to a literal God, just like me, or even stronger. The fact is that becoming a God has its costs and challenges, and this is already the twentieth time that Ukrat has gone through its Ascensionist Age without giving birth to a God. The god who was born there last time was insanely strong. Which means that the requirements for becoming a God in Ukrat have increased." He finally concluded.

Hm... Interesting, it looks like the world I'm going to is amazing, I can't wait for it.

I asked my next question without wasting any time.

"What's a mold?"

That was a pointless question, I suppose, but a necessary one. I can't miss these details. I have the slight suspicion that what the purple energy rebuilt last was my mold, my body basically.

"A mold is nothing very complex. Every living being has a mold and a soul, the mold is what determines its race and innate characteristics, in short, it's its body in the most primordial state."

"For example, the mold of some beings has a unique characteristic of amplified strength, beings with this characteristic have a brown mold, at birth they will be stronger than their peers. Yours is white, which means there is no characteristic."

That turned out to be important, extremely important! What the hell has the purple energy done to my mold? Am I going to become a monster?

Without giving me time to understand what he was saying or to ask questions, he continued hastily: "I'm not going to answer you any more or go into details. Your time for questions is over. Let's get straight to the point. Make your requests, Jason, they will determine your future in Ukrat, don't dream of anything extravagant or you'll lose them. You have ten seconds.

'Fuck, this guy didn't even give me enough time to think, ten seconds my ass, you clueless piece of shit,' I grumbled internally.

"Ten." He started counting slowly.
