CHAPTER 27 - THE CONTINENT

They had all admitted defeat in their hearts, and prepared for their deaths until a strange man came floating in the sky.

He spoke some strange words, and to their bare eyes fire spewed out of nowhere burning the hordes of awakeners to death.

They were horrified, they knew the strength each awakener had once awakened, they had a resistance to most natural elements once they had awakened.

Fire could hardly burn them, but just some strange words from this man's mouth had burnt all of them to dust.

The next moment the man turned to them, they didn't even brandish their weapon in resistance because they knew if that man could kill all of them in less than ten seconds, they could be killed immediately.

Instead of the death they were expecting thru heard him speak.

"I'm back," he declared out loud.

They were confused, I'm back? What did that mean, was he living in this city before?

Then they heard a voice from behind them.

"V.. V..Vice city lord is that you," one of the remaining awakeners remembered him.

"How is that possible?" they thought.

They knew how strong the vice city lord was when those groups left the city, most of them right here were even stronger than him that period.

But now he could obliterate an horde of awakeners easily, without even breaking a sweat.

It was even more shocking how he was just in the air floating!

"H.. How, wh.. What happened?" with both a look of joy and dread clouding his face.

"Just how did you become that strong?" he finally asked, speaking clearly.

The man smiled at him and said, before explaining, what happened here, why are you fighting with your people?

The city lord explained how some awakeners defected and left the city, he thought they had left the city to explore the continent like the first group.

They came back instead and started attacking the city, they suddenly had iron weapons and potions.

He told him about the wR that had been happening.

When the man heard them he frowned and spoke, "So they have extended their reaches to this area."

They heard him but didn't understand what he was saying.

They all went into the city and he had a chat with them.

"How did you become this strong, and be able to control fire?" the city lord asked again.

Hearing his question the man smiled, his hair was bald and he wore some beads on his neck, so as he smiled the sun reflected both on his head and teeth.

"It was a hard journey for us but we prevailed," he said.

The rest of them focused wanting to hear his tale.

After we left the city, we went straight into the continents, making maps as we passed by.

The journey was harsh and relentless, killing most of us there.

We saw creatures we never knew existed, we saw sceneries that our minds couldn't comprehend.

And finally, after months of traveling, we decided to settle down for some weeks before moving again.

But our stay expended what we had planned originally.

Then one day for the very first time we saw the, another intelligent race.

They called them the Warthogs, these monsters towered about of with an average height of seven feet.

Their muscles were properly built, as wanderers we didn't want to fight and first tried to communicate. But it backfired, those monsters couldn't even be talked to, and the only thing in their heads was fighting.

So we fought, and for months we continued fighting.

Those monsters were so strong that they didn't even fight us, they sent their younglings as a form of training to them.

And those younglings were the ones who pressured us. Most of our warriors died in those fights that happened almost weekly, but as it was training for them it was also training for us.

We were used to fighting among ourselves for a while since monsters rarely came to the beach and what they fought were underwater monsters who came ashore.

It brought shame to the core of their hearts, because they couldn't even defeat the children of those races, and here they said they wanted to adventure around the continent.

They couldn't even escape from this place as the warthogs would kill anyone who tried to escape as their men had surrounded the place.

For a year they had to fight nonstop with the children of the warthog until they were saved.

A man who was passing the surroundings saved them and annihilated the tribe alone himself.

He controlled the earth and crushed all of them immediately, they couldn't even comprehend how strong he was, and what made them shocked was the person.

They thought it was another intelligent race that had some problem with the warthogs and came to kill them.

But when the person neared, they saw their kind.

"There were other survivors?" this was the first thought that came into their heads as they saw the man.

The man was also confused seeing his people stuck here, he saved them and took them to the place he lived.

It was another city, it was countless times larger than what we lived in before, and what shocked us where what we saw inside.

Everything seemed complicated to us at that moment, we saw houses that reached the clouds, and we saw monsters that moved those people around that they called cars.

There were even monsters being controlled like docile pets living inside the city.

They had iron and even harder metals used to build the walls of the city, and they had flying monsters used to transport large amounts of people.

Most of all there were no warriors around, they called themselves mages, and they had control of different elements of nature.

They could control fire, water, air, earth, and even some having some other types of elements like light, darkness, and thunder, some could even control the space around them.

They were taken in and treated well, and then they had to undergo a test.
