"This is Alex Smith from Daily Hunter News, we're deeply saddened to notify the citizens of Area 20 that Ms. Aella, the area's third S-rank, committed suicide yesterday." A male news anchor in his mid-40s said with a serious tone.
"Various witnesses claim to have seen Ms. Aella standing alone at the edge of Raven City's tallest skyscraper at around 12 o'clock in the afternoon when it was raining cats and dogs. She then jumped from the roof, unarmed, and died as a result."
"Because she couldn't die merely by jumping, she pierced herself with a variety of Mythical and Legendary-grade weapons in her possession, thus killing herself. When one of the witnesses tried to explain to the arrived NHO officials that an S-rank had just died, they allegedly laughed it off as nonsense. However, upon closer examination, it was discovered that the alleged nonsense was, in fact, the truth."
"We've also learned from the officials that NHO will shortly launch a full-scale search to examine this tragedy, as this is the first time an S-rank has perished since the Catalyst," Alex said before coming to an abrupt pause.
When the female news anchor In her mid-30s seated next to him noticed that he'd stopped speaking, she realized that it was her turn. She suspired lightly and began speaking, "Ms. Aella apparently left a suicide note in her apartment, which the organization discovered a few hours back. The note stated that she committed suicide as a result of her brother's untimely death inside the dungeon."
"However, few hunters such as Norman Wayne and Racheal Amelia think otherwise. They believe that it wasn't just due to that. They suspect that she was murdered by someone. But without any concrete proof, those words are the same as idiocy."
"We've invited Ms. Alice, the Guild Master of the Wolfpass Guild to comment on the death of Ms. Ael—"
...
Amon turned off the television. He'd gotten all of the information he needed, so there was no point in listening to the anchors gush over the S-ranks in the name of commentary.
'I should start it now.'
Whereupon he stood up from his couch and walked over to the door next to him. The room behind the closed door was opulent and enormous.
The room had a colossal bed strong enough to lift 4-5 people, as well as a slew of room essentials organized fancily in the space in a myriad of ways.
The room also consisted of a rug, on the foot of the bed, a wardrobe located by the window, a chandelier that exuded a warm radiant glow, a desk next to a tall mirror, a few flowers for decoration, and some paintings on the wall behind the bed.
Amon stepped into the room, his footsteps unhurried and serene as he made his way to the clear and glossy mirror, which stood in the middle of the room at approximately 10 feet in height.
He stood silently in front of the mirror, his hands resting on it as he inspected his appearance. An appearance that could captivate women effortlessly and a heaven-defying talent that could fill the hearts of men with envy.
All of a sudden, something unusual took place right at that moment.
His palms emitted a peculiar wave of energy that rippled across the mirror. Amon's transparent image progressively became translucent, as the mirror's innate properties varied and it gradually lost its ability to reflect light.
Soon, the image completely faded away, leaving only dark depths and grey stairwells apparent. As it plunged into the unknown, its unlit gloomy walls gave off an unsettling vibe, enough to render a normal person frightened with terror.
Amon stepped inside the newly formed passage with a carefree demeanor on his face, without even a glimmer of apprehension in his eyes, as if he'd been here before countless times.
The mirror was recreated as it mirrored the bedroom on its gleaming glass, just as Amon entered the space.
With a sputtering sound, a small sizzling and majestic-looking fire erupted from Amon's fingertips, lighting up the passage in an instant.
He went down the stairs till he came face to face with a substantial and sophisticated massive steel gate with no deadlock or patches. As a yellow blinding glow surrounded the door, he placed his hand on it. He then lightly tapped the door precisely 2 times to which the gate reacted by opening.
*Creak*
As the gate swung open itself, Amon proceeded into the room inside, revealing a devilish smirk on his face. Afterward, with a flick of his fingertips, he dispersed the fire with ease.
Shortly after he'd stepped inside the room, the gate closed itself as if it never opened in the first place.
The room was encircled by dark-grey solid walls composed of an unknown material, but it was evident that all of the walls were resilient enough to withstand a couple of missile attacks. The room wasn't particularly enormous, but it wasn't particularly small either; to be exact it was around the same size as a large warehouse.
Tens of miniature torches, which, despite their size, could easily light up the area, were attached to the walls.
Amon's nose was filled with a fetid and musty smell upon his arrival into the room.
Blood, as well as tiny chunks of monster meat, were strewn throughout the floor.
Hundreds of monster carcasses were stuffed into green liquid-filled containers placed vertically inside the room. There were also some living monsters kept in gigantic cages on the left side. Some screamed, some were deafeningly silent, and the rest were on the verge of death.
It was such a horrendous sight that if a regular person or hunter had seen it, they would have already wet their pants.
"It's the same as always, I see."
When she saw Amon enter the chamber, a young goblin girl with ragged clothes and a light-green complexion stepped back in dread, her eyes imploring him to stop torturing her. The others followed suit.
Their eyes were filled with immense fear.
Utter.
Fear.
Pain.
And Sorrow.
"Ah? It appears that I was overly hard on y'all yesterday." Amon muttered as he walked past them. He wasn't here today for them; he was here for something else.
Something more important than experimenting with or stealing their skills from them.
That, however, didn't rule out the possibility of him experimenting with or stealing their skills today; he just wouldn't do it first.
After all, Amon had a self-centered personality. He was selfish enough to betray his friends if provided anything more valuable than their life, selfish enough to disregard others' sentiments, and selfish enough to kill anyone if given something great.
Soon after, he arrived in front of a small ancient-looking wooden door at the far end of the room. Pushing the door with his right hand, he walked inside the completely unlit vacant space.
As soon as he walked into the room, the pitch-black area was mysteriously lit up with hovering crimson flames.
"System Inventory," Amon called out in that very instant.
'I've got to do it.' He said internally. He grasped his chest and a giddy expression formed on his face. Right now, he was buzzing with immense anticipation.
Shortly after a spatial crack emerged out of nowhere. He reached into it and grabbed something out with his hands.
A familiar white spear with unusual patterns on it came into view. Aella had used the same spear in her battle against him yesterday.
"Let's see what this weapon is capable of." He said as he took a combat stance immediately and clutched the spear in both hands tightly.
However—
[You're unable to use the spear since your heart is demonic and filthy.]
Noticing the sudden blue panel in front of him Amon muttered without even a hint of surprise in his voice, "This was to be anticipated. This isn't your typical spear. Should I try imbuing it with Demonic Qi? I doubt it'll work but let's try. At worst the spear will get destroyed." He sighed.
Amon let in a deep breath, closing his eyes.
He then exhaled the breath as his body emitted a murky dark energy that engulfed his hands, which were clutching the spear firmly. The ebony-black energy expanded and moved toward the spear, encompassing it in an instant.
[You've tried imbuing Demonic Qi into the spear.] [You've failed.]

...
[You're imbuing Demonic Qi into the spear.]
[The fragment of the Divine Deity of Light inside the spear is enraged.]
[Imbuing progress: 90%]
[You're imbuing Demonic Qi into the spear]
[The fragment of the Divine Deity of Light inside the spear is getting weaker.]
As seemingly unending panels continued to appear in front of him, Amon's face lit up with a wide smile. His plan to imbue the spear with his dense Demonic Qi was working, albeit, it drained large amounts of Qi and the process was rather slow.
Amon had been imbuing his Qi into the spear for an hour and a half, but it was still not finished. With this, one could easily determine how long the process took. Fortunately, He'd a large amount of Qi so, it wasn't going to finish right away.
The white color of the spear had long since vanished, shrouding it in a pitch-black color, currently.
[You're imbuing Demonic Qi into the spear.]
[The fragment of the Divine Deity of Light is coming out.]
"Oh?" Amon mumbled. Until now he'd paid no heed to the name 'Divine Deity of Light' since he thought that his Qi would eventually suppress it entirely but suddenly his interest in this name had soared.
He wasn't worried that if she came out, he'd be in danger; for Amon had a lot of hidden cards that the rest of the world didn't even know about. Furthermore, it was merely a fragment; if the entire body came out of the spear, he would be in genuine trouble.
Soon after, he was forced to close his eyes against a dazzling yellow light that emanated from the spear.
"Who dares to corrupt this spear?" A thunderous voice resounded inside the room.

Author Note: Only Amon can use Demonic Qi on this planet. The cause for this will be revealed in the future chapters. Thank you for taking your time to read this :))
