As we exited FTL I contacted both Crag and Kane. "Does anyone see any planets."
"No." "No." They both replied as I activated scanning and sent out S.O.S. signals. Checking over my biosute and gasmask again I slipped on my visor to see what was happening through the ship cameras. And to their credit they were trying to patch everything up quickly and effectively. My screening for crewmates was rather high. However it eventually devolved into chaos as the vaccum of space started prying away the materials they had put on.
It got to the point that they started gunfights over who was inside an escape pod. This made the edges of the ship a bloodbath as everyone was so focused on securing themselves escape pods they hadn't realized they had broken or severely damaged them. I however wouldn't be here long enough to see the outcome of this war as my escape pod scanners detected a possibly habitable world.
I got lucky the whole reason rimworlds where popular was because of overpopulation running rampant in the few havitable worlds untainted by industry. So finding a habitable world was a lifesaver. Checking over the scanners once more to see if there was anything that the first 3 didn't get I sent Crag and Kane a message to get ready for liftoff, and make sure they're locked onto my pod.
Double checking everything I checked in with Crag and Kane who gave me the ok. Deciding to land in a mountanous jungle for its defensible location. Not to mention it's resources. Locking in and I launched with Crag and Kane soon after. Looking back at the ship it was crumbling with the engines completely drifting off and the reactor barely holding it together they would be lucky if they lived the next hour. As I kept scanning the zone I also saw an escape pod heading for the ice sheet at the top of the planet. Poor bastard probably didn't know how to program the flight control panel and got unlucky by just hitting launch.
As I was nearing the planet the worst thing possible occured.
Warning Engines Damaged Prepare For Impact
A mechanical voice came over the speaker. Scanning the ship revealed a metal slag piece jammed in the thrusters. Knowing I coulrn't do anything about it I shot off the bolts holding the 3 other escape pod seats down and rapped them around me using the seatbelts I cut off to use as rope. I started getting voice messages from Crag and Kane asking where I was going as my ship started drifting towards a desert. Kane knowing I knew how to maneuver an escape pod and deduced something must be up with the system.
As they trailed behind me worried my pod started nearing the desert ground as I took a ressurector mech serum and secured it beside me. Always knew to keep one on me in situations like these. As my pod hit the geound I was hit with a flash of blinding light. Presumably hours later I woke up and looked around. Kane was standing there Mech Serum in hand with Crag beside him looking increasingly worried. Kane told Crag to help me to his shuttle to rest before Crag picked me up himself and rushed me to the pod. Laying me down inside I slowly gained awarness as my ears stopped ringing and I could think clearer.
Dazed I took notice of my condition. There were obviously burn marks no doubt from the damaged engines mixing with the chemfuel. Looking at myself I found several bandages and a splint for my left arm. Thanfully it wasn't my right as that was my shooting arm. I cursed when I saw the empty Reseurector Mech Serum as although I knew how it worked. I wouldn't be able to get the materials to make another one. And I most certainly wouldn't be able to find the materials needed until I set up an outpost of some sorts. That would be of course if I wasn't in a desert. Continuing my inspection I realized why I was so wound free. Kane installed my prototype bionics onto me. Now I'm not one to question his skill, but if Kane THE man who knows how to produce luciferium thought that I needed bionic arms legs and looking at my back through a reflection in my back a new spine. I must've been crushed and barely alive even with the Ressurecter Mech Serum. Thankfully my guns where built to last as if the battery was pierced it would've let out an EMP blast strong enough to fry me
Continuing to go over my condition I congradulated myself on my craftsmanship when it came to my bionics as although they were in the prototype phase they worked flawlessly. The reason they were prototypes however was because they were leauges above all other bionics in terms of efficiency. The downside however was that it required a power source to drain energy from with the greater the task required the larger the energy drain. And if you didn't have enough energy the bionics would shut everything down into "sleep" mod and shutdown.
Fishing an analyzer from the medical bag Kane left beside me I learned that because of the nanites from the Ressurector Mech Serum I would heal my burns in a day.
As I looked over myself I could only sigh as even with the bionics on I didn't want to make the burns on my torso worse. So I would have to wait for my burns to heal before I did anything else. As Crag passed by the door of the escape pod I asked "Hey Crag were you able to get anything from my escape pod?" Crag grunted before responding.
"I got your stuff out. A bunch of the steel ended up catching on fire so some was lost." Crag simplistically said before going to do a task I assumed Kane assigned him.
Fishing an analyzer from the medical bag Kane left beside me I learned that because of the nanites from the Ressurector Mech Serum I would heal my burns in a day. Deciding to not just sit here and die of boredom I hopped onto the escape pods computers and started a scan of the planets geography. This was only possible because of how small the thing was.
After a bit I looked at it and saw there was an ice sheet biome at the top of the planet. A desert which we were in on the left side a moutain range on the right side of the planet preventing a quick and easy hike to the jungle. Above the jungle was a plains region before it merged to the ice sheet biome and to the right of it existed a conglomeration of rivers before it merged to the ocean. Overall it was a small planet with few biomes and mostly covered in ocean with only one continent.
looking over the map again I thought of the crew member who was able to launch an escape pod, but they landed at the top of the planet in the middle of a sheet ice biome.
Given that there were 50 survival meals in the pod and that it has a heater he'd probably survive a week before he died from his organs freezing.
Wondering if I had any playing cards on me I started packing my pockets until.
Ding
My habds touched something metal. Wondering if I left a holdout pistol or some mechanism in my pocket I pulled out an object.
It was the AI Persona Core, both of them.
And they were throbbing while releasing light
With seconds left before detonation I put all the power in my bionics into throwing the now very radioctive explosive out of the escape pod.
Bwoooooooooooom
A massive detonation of mixing green and yellow electric charges seemingly rushed towards me in a wave. When they reached me I continually held all of my bionics on their max power to try to dampen the effects of the nuclear discharge of energy going through me. And then the discharge stopped, but my battle for my brain not getting fried didn't I had already dug a 5 metre hole going down through the escape pod. And after I bit of time I had used up all my energy before I entered sleep mode.
