Chapter 6: Lost Potential, New Beginnings (Edited)

"Damn that felt good! Can you hear me now pervert?" Said the woman as she rubbed her knuckles. After saying this she reached out her hand to the prone Kekkai holding his nose on the ground.

"Loud and clear." Kekkai massaged his face and reached out to take the hand.

"Good!" She said and nodded with a smirk.

But instead of taking his hand to help she cocked her arm back again and hit him again! Poor Kekkai could only roll on the floor with his head buzzing.

"What the hell was that for?!" He complained in dissatisfaction.

Her smile grew wider as she shrugged and said: "Felt like it. What? Want more?"

Saying this she prepared to hit him again.

"Ok ok! I give, can you just tell me what the hell is going on?!" Kekkai surrendered immediately.

"What's happening is that I fucked up pairing with you." The question seemed to exasperate her even more, her smile was gone and a pained expression took its place. Walking back to her hammock she fell into it in exhaustion, Looking up in a trance she was silent for a minute.

"Do you know how hard it was for me to find you? I had to make several trades with administrators across dimensional gaps to track you down for several years. I gave up several core functions! Although they were unnecessary functions. They were key for me to be able to pair up with the universe! Just to find you!" She said sinking deeper and deeper into her bed.

"And when I finally found you, what happened? Soul essence tampering, fate manipulation, several curses, Demon fucking parasites, and Dimensional Gates!" She said listed off in a rage.

"I worked my ass off finding ways to deal with all that shit shoved inside your soul. But the Soul essence attack that fucker used, in the end, was the straw that broke the camel's back, I couldn't even unbind your ass because I had traded the function earlier on!"

"The only thing I could do was do a tether and do my best to keep your mind and body from falling apart. I lost so much source power upgrading your first gift package. Not even that was enough!"

"Over sixty percent of my perks, completely wasted!"

"The various soul and body rejections from forceful empowerments I needed to perform to allow you to survive was too much on your body. To keep it from collapsing I had to upgrade your life level completely!" She continued her tirade for a while until Kekkai interrupted her.

"Hey hey, I get it. You lost a fortune to save me." Saying this as he stood up, Kekkai looked at her with a serious face before he bowed to her and said: "Thank you. Thank you for saving me."

Rising back up he continued slowly "Look, I know we got off on the wrong start. A lot of shit went down and I'm dealing with it the best I can, I don't know what you lost but I'll try to make up for it. So let's start again."

"Hi, my name is Kekkai, Kekkai Mēkā, nice to meet you." He said stretching out his hand.

Kekkai's apology cooled her temper down quickly. She looked at him standing there with a hand stretched out with a stoic face for half a minute, not saying anything.

Finally, she sighed, flicking her hand the projection reappeared, and she once again fiddled with it no longer paying attention to Kekkai.

Kekkai grimaced slightly and tried again with a slight probe stepping closer "Soooo, Your name is?"

She kept fiddling with the sphere ignoring him.

He stepped closer and dragged his question again "Issss?"

"Nikita." She answered detachedly.

"Nice to meet you, Nikita." He said with a shrug.

Silence prevailed for a while, only clicking and breathing as he waited patiently while standing there hanging over her. Though that didn't last too long as he asked her with curiosity.

"So what's the problem? What is that?" He said pointing to the projection only to have her slap his hand away strictly.

"Don't touch, Don't move, don't even speak. I'm concentrating." She said.

He raised an eyebrow and lifted his hand and made a zipper motion to his lips.

The corners of her mouth twitched watching him do this from the corner of her eyes before she refocused on the image before her.

While she worked he examined the girl again. She had light olive skin with a heart-shaped face. Her defined high cheekbones were slightly blushed and her deep almond eyes flashed sharp blue as she maintained the screen, a cute bulbous nose, and thin slightly open lips as she breathed.

His eyes slowly drew down her slender neckline to her chest before an elbow struck out immediately to his gut. Knocking the air out of him.

"Eyes up, prick." She said not even looking at his hunched-over form. Only a slight smirk appeared as he gasped to get his breath back while glaring at her.

"The problem is that when that thing tampered with your soul, he left a lot of backhands to make sure you died. And I mean A LOT. He made it so that even with divine intervention he could pull the rug from under you and whoever supported you as well." She began.

"I had to react fast to keep both of our souls from being torn to pieces in the aftermath. It's fucking lucky that you managed to practice the Chakra system already along with being contracted to a local deity. I combined a lot of source power to upgrade your Beginners gift and make it adaptable for your body and make it able to contain your soul." She said

"Wait, shouldn't my own body be able to hold my soul?" Kekkai asked in surprise "I mean I worked hard to mold myself mind and body to get to my current stage. Heck, I think I can fight with Jonin with my current strength."

Nikita only looked at him mockingly and said "That's not how this works. You were in tune with an altered soul, not your original one. I'm a Technology system, to be honest. When I modified the gift it was to turn it into a biological version to fit the local power system."

"So instead of giving you the baseline tech that would improve you instantly. I remodeled the tech to have programmable DNA. Turning it into living nanotech. The Nanites adapted to your body quickly but like I said I'm not made for this power system. Your body was constantly assimilating and drawing nutrients to adapt to this change. The best and most versatile being the chakra you were storing."

"But I refine chakra constantly every day, it shouldn't be a problem even if it consumes a lot of chakras." He remarked in confusion.

To this, she shook her head "If it were in regular circumstances it would be fine and stop when your chakra ran out. But here's the thing, chakra changes your biological chemistry and spiritual output when it reaches a certain stage. Nanites completely fit the bill on the physical side and will constantly draw energy from any source they can find. The latent nutrition inside you made up for whatever you lacked, but your mental and spiritual composition was what was in immediate danger!"

At his confusion, she continued "Although you had a lot of potential you had very little of that power truly under control and all it would have done was backlash at you as you grew stronger. It was actually that Demon that was affecting the last essential part of refining and tuning your soul to fit the chakra system. Though it was your effort to find the mental and physical qualities to refine chakra you were missing two more essential parts, The Affinity and will to manipulate chakra."

"What?!" He gasped in horror. "Then how did I manage to refine chakra before without noticing it?"

"Your soul essence was tampered with, remember? When that essential part was taken away when I removed the demon larvae it left a gap in your mental and spiritual aspects that governed the refining of Chakra. Along with the attack on your soul, we had no chance to readjust your mental capacity to adjust to Chakra. I did my best to damage control and transformed the nanites again to have spiritual aspects as well allowing them to take your place in chakra refining."

But at this, she stopped for a few seconds "That, I admit was a mistake on my part and it cost you."

Foreboding built in his heart as he asked "Cost me what?"

"The Nanites were originally tuned to your body to fix any damage done using whatever nutrition it could find in excess. But you have nothing excess left. So they ended up doing their best to refine chakra to compensate. And chakra is not nearly as nice on the body as nanotechnology, if the Nanites hadn't found a new source of nutrients soon you would have refined your body into slush to compensate both of them."

Picturing the image of his body turning into a pile of ooze from being refined to death by his strength left him shivering.

Fearing the worst he asked "And then what? What happened to my body?"

"Your grandfather saved you, I don't know what he did but he found something to take the edge off completely and let the Nanites slowly adapt and change your body."

This surprised him. He didn't know that his grandfather was so awesome that he could find something that could counter genetic collapse from nanites. That's leagues ahead of the ninja world in terms of raw technology and outlook.

But when he thought about it, the bar the ninja world set for biotechnology itself was extremely high since practically everyone was fighting fathers playing the Otsutsuki bloodline with marvelous diverse, and powerful abilities.

"Sadly though, the damage had already been done, it took a lot out of you to be able to merge with it. All the progress you made before is gone, and the nanites had completely merged with your DNA in a state of energy starvation. You will be lucky to move a finger when you get out of here, let alone do anything else." She looked at him in pity.

"I can deal with that." He said patting his chest in relief before looking at Nikita with a confident smile "As long as I'm alive I can slowly get my strength back with training."

At his look, she looked slightly guilty and turned her head and whispered "Well about that. You can't train to get it back. Your body is locked in on feeding the Nanites and your current mental state is completely unable to handle controlling the Nanites how they are now. So basically you are stuck. Like fighting five scum for the rest of your life."

Kekkai's smile slowly vanished. Not sure if he heard correctly. He asked "What was that? What do you mean?"

Still looking away but this time she flipped into the bed, hiding her face completely. Too ashamed to look at him.

"All your body potential is gone. You will never reach above-average human levels of power for the rest of your life." This muffled statement came from her overturned body.

Stunned, he slowly processed what she said over and over again.

Thinking about what Ida had said about his Chakra being crippled before he came to a realization.

A slow piercing ring began to build up in his head. Looking at Nikita his eyes dulled and he trembled, with a shaking finger he pointed at her.

"Y-you, You-" His voice filled with disbelief.

His face slowly twisted into a rage as he screamed "YOU FUCKING CRIPPLED ME!?! YOU FUCKING BITCH, I'll KILL YOU!!"

Complete and utter rage poured into him as he snarled and with a leap, he pounced onto her.

Nikita yelped in surprise as she was knocked over and her hammock broke under the weight of the two.

After a few blows to her head as Kekkai began to punch her face she immediately fought and began to fight back, with extremely strong strength of her own she shoved him into a dresser in the small room.

"Fucking bitch, give me back my Power!" Snarled Kekkai as he snarled not caring about the blow and leaped back at her, knocking her down they rolled around with each other.

Punching, kicking and pulling they struck each other the best they could in the small room. After a minute of tussling Nikita glared at Kekkai and said "You're saying it as I did it on purpose! The very reason I brought you here was that I was trying to fix it!"

Kekkai glared at her face pressed close to his savagely as well for a few seconds, well he could be a little more intimidating if he wasn't pinned to the ground with his arms held above him by hers.

His concentration for keeping his rage As well as tested because Nikita was straddling his waist with clothes ruffled and strewn across the floor with their tussle and her chest pressed closely to his to keep his arms up.

Concentrating on the stunning face in front of him, he growled "Explain!"

With a sigh of relief she rose back up, while still straddling him she recalled the Projection he had seen her messing with before.

"This is a modified program using the scraps of what's left from my functions and source. It's not perfect I admit and has a limit in what it can do but it's all I have." She looked at the ball of light ruefully.

"Give it to me," Kekkai demanded reaching out for the orb.

Leaning back and avoiding his hands she shook her head. Looking at him deeply she slowly pleaded, "Look, I'm sorry, I don't have any way to undo the damage I did but I DID TRY! This is the best I can do!"

"This is all I have left! If I give you this then everything that I am and have has been given to you and only you." She said slowly her head tilting downward "Please, just, let me do what I was made to do. If you can't promise me to be my partner then all that can do is self-destruct. You have my life in your hands! I can't do anything else without you and you can't do anything without me."

Kekkai was silent. After two minutes he finally calmed down and closed his eyes.

"Fine. A fresh start?" He asked.

"Partners?" She raised her head and asked.

"Partners." He confirmed

With that, she grinned and her face lit up "Then till death do us part Kekkai!"

With that, she pressed the orb onto his head. Light flooded his sight and he grew dizzy as lines of text flooded his mind. Growing more and more until he couldn't make any sense of the information pouring into him.

And before he passed out he felt a soft feeling of lips pressing against his.

"Sweet dreams Host!" He heard this whisper pass by his ears.
