(19) The degree of effect brought by the purple month.

The next day.

Getting up early, Mangrel made his way to the deeper part of the alley. He got up perfectly in time, with honest reasons such a feat was normal.

The cold morning breeze brushed past Mangrel's well-exposed body. No tremor appeared on his body, his body was different compared to how it was initially. It could easily fight off the cold to some extent now.

After absorbing his mother's life essence and eating food, a lot of energy returned to his body.

Originally, people who have cultivation talent are supposed to be stronger than others to begin with. Hence, such a leap in the performance of the body was natural.

Reaching the body, used to store the algaeist flower, Mangrel closely looked at the dead body. His eyes lit up almost immediately.

It appeared withered a lot from before and hollow like no muscles existed within him.

Mangrel's eyes widened, 'That's a lot faster than I thought.'

If an algaeist flowered was wrapped in algae and placed near another poisonous substance, a beneficial effect was achieved.

The algaeist flower absorbs the poison, growing stronger corresponding to the level of the poison. Though this method could only be used once, it proved to be very useful, as any poison's effect could be passed to the flower.

Human blood held many pathogens, so they met the requirement of being a poison. Not to say how their blood becomes deadlier once a human being dies, it was because their natural immunity loses its effectiveness.

However, strengthening the algaeist flower was the secondary objective.

What Mangrel wanted to find out was the amount of boost poison received, in the purple month.

Taking a look at the algaeist flower's condition and the body, Mangrel had a vague idea about its absorption rate.

'Around 10℅....That's a lot.' Mangrel's brow tightened.

Mangrel initially conceived it to be only a weak boost. But, the result of this small experiment said otherwise.

Ten percent was by no means a small boost, it could increase the winning chances of a poison cultivator a lot.

'I will have to move with further caution, even while dealing with other cultivators. It's not possible to discover the cultivation path just by looking, so it's quite a tricky problem.'

Every continent had a unique feature, a phenomenon like this, which broke common sense. It was not weird when looked at from another angle.

'In total, eight different elements would receive boosts, depending on the month. I have to always keep an eye on the month in this world too.' Mangrel etched this fact deep into his mind.

Putting the algaeist flower, which had turned blood red and regained its vitality, within the corpse, Mangrel walked out of the alleyways.

As Mangrel arrived near the river, morning dew entered his sight. He was sure not to bump his leg into any beggars, who were sleeping along the way.

"Haaa...." The hot breath left Mangrel's mouth, turning into a white most.

Crossing the bridge, the scene of the construction site entered his vision.

There was no one around the area.

'As I expected, there is no way those people would arrive early.' Mangrel, who just came to take a look, returned to his alley.

Bottom feeder cultivators, like the ones Mangrel met yesterday morning, did not see the need to be diligent. They came early to beat up a beggar, just to entertain themselves. People like them had no hope of ever rising in their cultivation attainment.

'Indulging oneself in worldly matters can only cripple one's potential. I once fell into such a state too, becoming deprived of my path. In the end, it took me decades to realize that.' The price of indulging in useless matters, Mangrel had to pay with the stagnation of his cultivation.

Everyone needs ambition and a goal to achieve greatness. However, it was impossible for these people, who lived just for the sake of living.

Resting his back on the wall, Mangrel decided to train his soul. Spiritual energy began gathering around the soul barrier rapidly. Knowing his limit, he stopped at an appropriate time and began absorbing it into his soul.

Pain rose with unstoppable momentum, causing Mangrel's face to cramp up.

The cultivation session ended soon, within five minutes. Going any further than this and Mangrel would start feeling dizzy. Working in such a state would be quite challenging and can even lead to dangerous situations.

Time flowed by and an hour passed by just like that.

Mangrel, who was letting his mind rest, heard footsteps from a distance.

The three people, Reane, Tevesh, and Jeken, started making another scene with no hesitation.

Not bothered about the man being beaten, Mangrel slowly got up and appeared ready. Shortly, the other beggars were ready too.

Counting the numbers, Reane took a glance at Mangrel and then sent them all to the construction site.

This time, without any hesitation, Mangrel moved towards the area to accept the task. There were already a few kids present before he arrived, but looking at how they were still gathering, Mangrel let out a sigh of relief.

'Stealing food from the shelter-like place every day would gather unneeded attention. There is already a chance of them finding out my deed, going there is no different than seeking trouble.'

Many saw Mangrel moving around the shelter, there was a fair chance of him being found out.

Committing a crime in broad daylight attracts trouble, it was a very famous proverb around low-class people.

Everyone has their own view on things, they could surely connect the series of events and find out the culprit.

'Being enchanted, the small girl, Seilin's memory would be blurry from when she was controlled, so she was nothing to worry about.'

'It would be the best outcome if that family did not spread the news that someone stole bread from their house.' Mangrel thought to himself, standing in the line of people.

Some familiar figures entered from the entrance, to whom Mangrel nodded.

Looking at Veneir, gears in Mangrel's head turned: 'I need to make her follow my instructions. With her, Devis would be easy to manipulate too. After all, he was in love with her.'

Mangrel's eyes shone in contempt.

Devis had hidden his emotions quite well, but it was not flawless. His small actions and his attitude gave him away.

Mangrel was able to deduce Devis's desire and Veneir was also vaguely aware of it.

'Veneir...She appears to not have any ambitions externally, but how can that be the case?' Mangrel chuckled internally.

'It's not that she doesn't have any ambition, she is just suppressing her desires. The cause is — her small brother, overwriting her desires with responsibility. I didn't expect to catch hold of such an opportunity so fast.' Mangrel's blank face with traces of menace deep within his eyes stared at Veneir.

Mangrel still planned on looking at Veneir's brother from the sidelines, he first had to understand his condition to plan further.

'I guess, I will visit him with the others.' Mangrel decided and moved forward in the line.

Not long after, Mangrel's chance to accept the task arrived.

"Place 50 bricks on the second floor of the third building. They are all on the ground floor."

Following the assigner's voice, the red dot on the sticker, upon Mangrel's palm, glowed up.

Walking out of the warehouse, Mangrel waited for the others to come out.

One by one, Veneir, Devis, Javine, Meren, and Heitrent walked out. They gathered around Mangrel and spoke to each other happily.

After a minute, Mangrel posed a question.

"Right Veneir. Can I come to visit your brother today?"

"Amh, okay. You can come whenever you want." Veneir agreed immediately. She wanted her brother to get better fast, she hoped that meeting Mangrel, an old friend would help.

"Me too!"

"Yeah, me too, I want to meet your brother!"

In no time, the others raised their hands too. In the end, everyone decided to visit at once.

After setting a meeting time, Mangrel made his way to the third building, which was on his right side.
