Summer walked beside Logan as they left the fenced yard.
After taking a few steps outside, she glanced back at the boys' dormitory and then turned to Logan, whispering, "You did that on purpose to annoy them, didn't you? Were they saying you're stingy behind your back?"
Logan turned to look at Summer, "You're quite perceptive."
Summer smiled at him, "I can be pretty smart."
Logan: "..."
Seeing Logan silent, Summer continued, "Did you notice their faces just now? Watching you feed me candy and put all those treats in my bag, they were completely stunned. They couldn't react even after we left. I bet they still can't believe you gave me so many expensive snacks."
Hearing this, Logan paused for a moment.
He looked at Summer, realizing belatedly that she was right. It was indeed surprising how generous he had been, giving her so many pricey treats.
Growing up, he had never been so generous with anyone.
Yet, here he was, willing to share so much with her.
He didn't eat sweets himself, but these treats were too good to waste or feed to animals. They were delicacies that even city folk seldom enjoyed, easily traded for other valuable items.
It wasn't just Henry and his friends who were surprised. Even Logan found himself astonished.
Such generosity didn't seem typical for him.
Logan didn't say anything, and Summer couldn't discern what he was thinking.
So she continued, "I know you were putting on a show for them. I ate a lot of your snacks last night, so I'll return these to you at school later."
Logan finally spoke, "Just repay me by cooking."

In the boys' dormitory, Henry and his friends were still in shock.
Mike was the first to snap out of it, saying, "If I remember correctly, Logan doesn't even share a sip of water with anyone, right? And if I'm not mistaken, he just filled Summer's bag with peanut nougat candy, crispy rice cakes, biscuits, and… what's it called…"
"Chocolate," Jack chimed in, "One piece costs nearly as much as a pound of pork."
Mike glanced around at the others, "So, judging by that, it seems they really are…"
"Let's just heat up the bread and eat," Henry interrupted abruptly, standing up. "After lunch, we need to work on the garden."
Seeing Henry like this, Mike stopped talking.
The others remained silent, focusing on their own tasks. They either rested or prepared lunch, and after eating, they continued with their work as usual.
No one brought up Summer and Logan again.
It was too painful to mention, like slapping themselves in the face.

Cooking wasn't difficult for Summer. Making an extra dish for each meal wasn't a big deal for her. She enjoyed cooking, and it was the skill she was most proud of.
Using her cooking skills to get so many delicious snacks and more time with Logan was a trade she was more than willing to make. So, she readily accepted Logan's proposal.
Of course, Logan's comment about her not needing to save the snacks and coming to him for more was something she didn't take seriously.
She wouldn't take such a promise seriously from anyone, let alone Logan.
She carried the snacks to school and stored them in her desk drawer.
The most sensible way to eat them was to savor a little bit when she craved something sweet, allowing the happiness to last longer.
Using them to fill her stomach would be too wasteful.
