There were six different realms apart from the human world. There was always far more than the eyes met and among those realms was the Kakurio, a realm of spirits where the yokai, Ayakashi, and ghosts coexisted.  Although this realm was connected to the human, no human had ever stepped into the land of Spirits.  Ito Asahi was the Heir to the Ito family. A renowned family of exorcists who were previously Onmyoji of the royal family back in the day. The university raccoon (1)

"Ito san, great to see you." The university lecturer lowered his glasses and stared directly at Ashi, who was at the last seat and near the window.

"I thought you would only return after a decade but thank goodness you found your way here."

The teacher sarcastically remarked with a sharp tone. The wrinkles around his forehead were evident, and even a few nerves started to become visible.

"Thank you for having me."

Asahi gave a slight smile shamelessly, ignoring the teacher's demeanor. After all, for him, the process wasn't important but the results, and he had always gotten the best results. The teacher gave a final glare before reaching for his book.

It was also one of the reasons he had left Kuro behind. The cat would be a hindrance at such a case investigation.

Their lecture room was big enough to fit around fifty students, and the teacher was also accommodated with a mic. As the teacher started the class, Asahi lazily had his eyes searched left to right.

There were no issues with the students or the teacher. As he turned more towards the left, he saw a young man the same age as him, with brown hair, curly hair, and a big smile as he waved towards him.

'Huh?' Was that man in his sane mind? Asahi couldn't tell. He ignored the man and continued to search around until the lecturer spoke, "Yamazaki san! Why are you waving? Tell me what I told you just now!" The lecturer was taunting and sharp with his words.

"You were teaching about the business curve and how it fluctuates while also mentioning the great depression." The man named Yamazaki answered with a shiny, delighted face. Asahi had his eyes narrowed, but again, he couldn't find any fault in the man's being, so he pulled out his note from the bag and started to draw.

The class lasted for an hour and a half before the bell rang, and they were free to go to the cafeteria. Asahi could feel the admirable gazes of people; in addition to that, his hearing abilities had improved significantly as he could also hear the murmurs and whispers.

"Tsk, He's not even that good-looking. Look at how these girls faint just from his sight. Tsk, blind girls and a puny school price acting to be a bitch to get the attention. Fucker"

"Oh my! He's so handsome! It's my first time seeing him. I have been blessed."

There were a few of the words that he couldn't care less about. Asahi had his focus on sensing the flux, the emergence of any yokai, but unfortunately the entire place was clean like a white slate.

The white-slate university was the biggest indicator that something dangerous was happening. Often, Yokai would be everywhere and in everything. They were born out of the oldness of the unused things; they were hungry beings, so their being in the university where such youthful spirits were concentrated was a must.

He could only sense the human energy, making him more suspicious of everything. Perhaps a yokai that eats other yokai had entered the university or a very strong Yokai had to have been lurking around, which scared all the others away.

"Hey! Where had you been hiding?!" He could hear the sound of Yamiyo Yoshiro, his high school friend. Asah raised his head, streaming away from his thoughts. He felt cold hands wrapped around his neck.

"Was at home." Like always, Asahi was short with his words while Yoshiro gave a gleeful smile.

"You sure, because I didn't find you at the Obon. Anyway, left to grab lunch. My girlfriend is joining us too."

"Why would I lie?"

"True"

Asahi gave a nod, and they both stood in line for lunch. Asahi stood at the front; meanwhile, a girl with a cherry voice started to talk with Yoshiro and stood in line after him. Yoshiro had always been popular with girls. If Asahi was correct, this would be his fourth girlfriend only in the university, not counting the girls in high school.

"Here you go, young man." The man in the rice section gave him a big bowl filled with rice and smiled. Asahi gave a nod and headed to the soup section, picked a bowl filled with miso soup, got some fried eggs and fried fish, and headed to one of the tables.

The table was empty and was near the exit door. Right after him, the lovebirds followed and sat opposite him. Their table was like the popular's table and also an eyesore to many.

"Sahi, Meet my girlfriend. She is Miyuki," he introduced. The girl had a face as soft as snow, her features were delicate, and she seemed like a woman to hold virtue.

If he remembered correctly, Miyuki was supposedly from the theater and art department. He had heard many of the men comment how Miyuki was the cold beauty, yet here she was falling for Yoshiro.

"Hello, I am-"

Just then Asahi could feel the energy flux. It was subtle, but it meant that something was happening! Asahi rose from his chair, and without any reason, he ran towards the door. He was quick, and before Yoshiro could even stand, Asahi was out of sight.

"Asahi!" Yoshiro screamed, but his friend paid no heed. Miyuki was stunned. No one had ever treated her so insignificantly; she had always been the apple of everyone's eyes.

Though she knew Asahi was famous for being cold and distant, she had hoped to meet other parts of him, which were reserved only for Yoshiro. To her dismay, he had left her embarrassed. Her fists clutched tightly, yet she still had a smile.

"Perhaps he had something urgent to do."

"This has never happened. He is mindful and respects others courtesy. I am very sorry about his actions, Miyu."

Meanwhile, the entire cafeteria gasped at Asahi's actions. There were murmurs around the room.

Asahi ran as fast as he could. Although the energy flux had died down, it came from the northern part of the building, which was mostly empty since its students were having lunch. It was suspicious.

But as Asahi opened the sliding door of the science lab, there was no one. Not a trace was left behind, and everything was left untouched.

"Shit," Asahi cursed while closing the door, and he headed towards his next class. No longer in the mood to have lunch.
