Raid

The three figures were the other tenants of the orphanage.

"I told you lads, Ren ran away. So fitting of his name" From the three kids, Joan, the tallest, a girl and standing in the middle spoke with a strong accent.

Joan had; red curly hair, gcrystal green eyes and freckles all over her face.

"Yeah, he ran away like the coward he is"

"Ren's the name of a coward, haha."

On both sides of the girl, two boys who looked identical, twins were smirking and making snarky remarks.

'He changed his name in the future but there's no doubts it's him, I'll never forget his face. I forgot he had a twin brother. Apparently he died." Ren started breathing heavily, he calmed himself down.

'Now the question is which one do I kill? No! it doesn't matter, I'll just kill both to be sure!' Ren started ploting

Barrett and Jarrett were part of Ren's childhood trauma, he wasn't sure which one but one of them was part of the group that betrayed him in the future.

"Why do you keep picking on him?" Alexandra said, she moved in front of Ren.

"Well If it isn't the loud mouth! Your standing up for your boyfriend?" Joan, walked up to Alexandra and mocked.

"So what if I am? Your just mad that you don't have one." With a blush on her checks, Alexandra retorted with a straight face.

"What's so good about Ren? He can't even stand up for himself"

"Yeah Ren are you gonna let a girl fight for you? What a coward."

The twins as if side kicks jumped in the fight.

"Shut up you two, no one asked for your ad libs!" Alexandra said in anger, she continued to stare down Joan.

"You two, go and hold Ren down" As Joan said those words, she reached out her hand and grabbed Alexandria and pulled her by her hair.

As soon as the other Ren heard those words he ran away, using the other door to book it out of the room. He didn't want to get beaten. Naturally the twins went on hot pursuit.

"This is the boyfriend your so proud off?" Alexandra and Joan started slapping each other and pulling each other's hair.

They were both almost evenly matched, Alexandria was shorter but had more weight and strength. Joan on the other hand was skinny but she was taller then her.

In the past they had fought and Joan won sixty percent of their fights fair and square while the other times, the twins would jump in to save her.

"You think I'm jelouse of someone who won't even fight for me." Joan shouted as they both fell on the ground.

No one had the upper hand and they fought until they fell on the ground. Joan quickly got the upper and sat on top of Alexandra.

Joan knew that she didn't have much strength against her so she got to work and swung her arm but suddenly..

Someone grabbed her wrist from behind. She turned to look and was surprised to see Ren.

She was wondering where the twins were but she was more preoccupied by the way Ren was looking at her. It was like he was a different person and honestly, it made her a bit fearful.

Ren stared at her as he squeezed her wrist but he lacked power and strength to do any damage.

"Get up off of her you brat" Ren lifted up his hand and slapped Joan across the face, then he back hand slapped her again.

Joan was angered, she pounced on Ren and tackled him to the ground. "You bastard! who do you think you are? you think you can stand up to me?" Joan screamed as she started to attack Ren.

"Standing up to you won't be enough! I have to fight you." Ren dodged a few of her attacks but some landed as he didn't react fast enough.

Ren grabbed ahold of her arms, he used his knee and kicked her butt which sent he forward off of him.

Without wasting much time Ren got up and jumped on her back. He wrapped his legs around her waist placed his arm around her neck and secured it with the other hand.

Quickly the rear necked choke was secured.

Joan struggled to break free, she even tried to scream but couldn't.

"Go to sleep, go to sleep"

Ren didn't have much strength in his body so he squeezed as hard as he could. He didn't stop even when her body went limp.

"Ren stop, she's had enough!." Ren heard, Alexandra's voice which brought him back to his senses. He let go of Joan and got up off her.

"Ren are you ok?" Alexandra asked softly. Ren moved closer and hugged her.

Alexandria was shocked, she was a head taller then him but that hug felt like it covered her whole body.

Alexandria and Joan were the oldest in the orphanage, both of them eleven years old. While Ren and the rest of the children were nine and ten years old.

"Thank you Alexandra, for everything you've done for me." Ran hugged her tighter.

He felt disgusted with himself when he thought back to how he acted towards her but he felt even worse when his past self abandoned her.

Alexandra was shocked by this unusual gesture, tears fell from her eyes as she smile and returned the hug.

*Ding* *ding* *ding*

Just then the church bells echoed through out the town.

The church bells only rang during church ceremonies which was popular around here or when the town was under attack.

"The Town is under attack!" Ren screamed out.

Not only was the church bells bells ringing but also the bells located by the gate. During this time the women and children were adviced to hide while the men had to fight.

The attacks, would last for hours and maybe even weeks. One time, an attack lasted for five months.

The bandits were hell bent on entering the town by force as they had traveled a long way plus they had brought a large number.

Luckily a group of benevolent cultivator happened to be in town and they landed a helping hand. The bandits were chased away and to make matters worse they were robbed of their things.

"Let's quickly go to the bunker." Alexandra said as she quickly grabbed Ren's wrist and dragged him out of the room.

Alexandra suddenly stopped and went back, she knelt down the unconscious Joan and slapped her a few times in an attempt to wake her but she failed.

"Just leave her! We don't have that much time" Ren said.

Ten minutes after the church bells rang, the door to the bunker would be closed and unless the mayor or a designated figure gave the order, the door would remain shut.

This was to ensure the safety of the people, afterall the women and children were everyone's top priority.

"Because she could get seriously hurt."

'*sigh* You have more compassion then the average child.' Ren thought.

"She's a heavy sleeper so she won't wake easily, just grab her arms and I'll grab her legs" Ren said as he helped her pick up the unconscious girl.

While, holding both of Joan legs, Ren couldn't help but think that it was the perfect opportunity to...kill her.

Although she wasn't part of the group that betrayed him in his final battle, Ren found her actions as a kid annoying.

After thinking for a bit , Ren said, " Alexandra, we might not be able to make it in time. How about this, you quickly run to the bunker and I take Joan to the kitchen and splash some water on her face to wake her up, then we'll quickly follow you."

"What! split up? How about I come with you, then we can go together" Alexandra immediately argued.

"No, both the kitchen and bathroom are too far away. If all of us go together like this, we might not make it to the bunker in time."

"Me and Joan on the other hand are faster then you, if it's just us running, we'll be able to make it in time." Ren said urgently.

"I don't know!" Alexandra felt confused for a second.

"Alexandria, trust me. Just go to the bunker, I'll be fine. I Promise." Ren said with a pleading look.

Alexandra couldn't argue with him anymore, she gentle place Joan down and left. "You better keep your promise, ok?" she left those words behind.

'What an interesting kid.' Ren thought as he watched her run out the door. He didn't see the irony in him calling her a kid.

"Anyway, how can I make it look like an accident" Ren thought as he looked at Joan.

Thinking about the current events, Ren remembered this day.

A group of evil cultivator had attacked the town. In his previous life, Ren had hidden away in a closet and come out after the fighting was over.

Sadly the first person he saw was Alexandra, she had been killed in the orphanage. Ren figured that she was looking for him during that time. In the future the guilt had eaten him up.

Ren quickly went to the caretakers room and grabbed some rope and a whip. In the future, Ren never figured out why the caretaker had these things but he didn't care.

The orphanage was very big, it took Ren about five minutes to return with the things and a wheelbarrow he took from the maintenance room.

He used a few knots he knew to tie Joan up before throwing her into the wheelbarrow.

"This is gonna be fun."
