Chapter 32

“I’ve got nothing to hide.” He looked down at the unconscious man. “Who is he? The guy who’s been killing my past lovers.”

“I hope it is. Then I can nail him to the wall.”

“But coming in here with a shotgun?” Deepan was still staring at their intruder. “That seems a bit over the top, considering everything. It’s daylight out there.”

“Sounds like he doesn’t care if he’s caught now.” Karl shook his head. “I’ve heard of escalation in a killer, but this is ridiculous.”

“Who is it?”

“How should I know?” Karl winced as he put his bad foot over his thigh. He could see the piece of glass sticking out of the arch. “You take the mask off and find out.”

“Me?”

“You’re the one he’s been stalking. I’ll give you the honors.”

Deepan grunted. He knelt down and prodded at the unconscious man. Then he took hold of the balaclava.

“You sure about this?”

“I’m a little indisposed right now.” Karl gestured at his foot. “As long as you don’t shoot him yourself. Then I would have to arrest you.”
