Chapter 32: I'll Bring You Home

~~Two children were playing on the pool side.

Barely anyone was there because some were already on their way home while others were having their food.

These two girls were playing with one another only to end up falling on the adult's pool.

They struggled and struggled, luckily their parents saw them and rushed to their aide jumping on the pool.

Upon pulling up one girl, they asked her worriedly and was talking about going to the hospital, completely neglecting the other girl still struggling.

"Mom!!!"

"Dad!!"

She called to them as she struggled from drowning only to be ignored.~~

"Ah it's flooding back again.'

The moment Amethyst plunged into the water, memories of the past came rushing back to her.

Her body couldn't move, not even allowing her to struggle on the water.

In reality, she wasn't in the too deep part, if she were to stand up, the water would actually reach only up to her neck.

But her body wasn't moving and so she plunged down.

Deeper and deeper.

Darker and darker.

Despite the light passing through the water, she felt as if the whole place was dark.

Clara was shock at what happened too and heart was beating fast because Amethyst wasn't coming up at all.

Before she could react, someone jumped beside her.

"Clara what the hell were you thinking?" Gabriel and the rest rushed to her.

They obviously saw her walked to Amethyst and saw her arguing with her.

So when Amethyst fell to the pool, all of them rushed here.

But they weren't as fast as Slate who was already walking over when he saw Clara approached Amethyst.

Soon, Slate came up with Amethyst in his arms.

She wasn't moving, her eyes closed.

"Amethyst!!" Slate called to her after putting her to the gutter and climbing up himself.

But she wasn't responding.

Worst, she wasn't even breathing.

"Damn!!"

He cursed before bending over to give her CPR.

Did it two times before she started coughing.

She was disoriented as she looked up at him, "I..."

"I'll bring you home," he said before carrying her in his arms.

But as he passed by Clara, "I'll meet you in the president's office."

His words were simple but the meaning was very obvious.

You were a doctor but you actually almost took a life.

Gabriel and the rest were disappointed as well.

"No... I... I didn't mean to," Clara tried defending herself.

"Save it Clara, even though we have no idea what had happened for her to drown in such a short time. You should know, even not as a doctor, but as a person, that everyone has their circumstances," Gabriel Berated her.

Being in the medical field, it may not be all of them but most of them have noticed that something was going on with Amethyst. But seeing her doing fine they didn't focus too much into it.

Slate was the same, the reason why he was adamant on staying near her was so he could watch over her unless something bad happens.

Though he didn't expect for that something to be her drowning.

The Burnham park incident where she was staring blankly at the lake and her being absent minded the moment they entered this place.

He didn't expect that all those was due to the water.

The only reason he could come up with, after all these events was that Amethyst has some kind of trauma towards the water.

Because even at Burnham Park, she was pale after staring at the lake.

And she was pale when he came up to check on her a while ago.

At the same time, they way she acts as she slowly approached the water.

Everything points to one thing.

He carried her to his car and turned it on, turning on the heater as well before he rushed down to their cottage to get their things.

"Slate..."

Gabriel walked up to him and helped him.

"I will bring her home, you guys continue," Slate told him before leaving.

Gabriel could only sigh, he didn't expect for their outing to end up like this.

"Why are you all blaming me? She was the one who came when it was our team outing!!" Clara was not doing good either.

The looks her colleagues are giving her was not something she likes.

"Clara, she enever disrupted our outing, she was doing her own thing and it was you who kept looking for trouble, approaching her," one of her colleagues said.

"No!!" she was adamant on the fact that she really didn't do anything wrong.

She pulled Amethyst back but she never intended for her to fall.

"Stop now before you embarrass yourself even more. You may have not intended for her to fall but it was still because of you that she had fallen," Gabriel finally approached her and said.

"I don't think the mood is right to continue this outing, if any of you still wants to stay then you can stay. For those who no longer wants to, you can go."

As he said this, he walked towards his things, "And I plan on not staying."

Some decided to just enjoy while the others decided to go back.

But all of them were looking at Clara with disappointment.

*****

After coming back, Slate took out his towel and placed it over Amethyst's shoulder.

"We're going back," he said before driving away.

She can't take a bath there for she was still in shock that he knew he should just bring her home.

She didn't respond and he didn't said anymore.

He could only glance at her from time to time, he could see her paleness haven't disappeared.

And he did knew of this look.

He and Scarlet witnessed her have this once, being in fear and hurt at the same time disappointment.

He could also remember clearly the word she uttered over nad over again until Scarlet was able to calm her down.

'Why.'

She had asked this question multiple times and her eyes were filled with the same emotions she was showing now.

"I- I can-"

"You can barely speak, tell me how you can walk?" he asked when she tried to reject his help after they arrived.

Without waiting anymore for her rebukes, he carried her in his arms and walked towards his and Scarlet's unit.

Amethyst could only weakly let him do it for she really has no energy right now.

"What happened?" Scarlet asked when the caretaker opened the door and Slate came in with Amethyst in her hand.

"Help her get change," Slate said to the caretaker before carrying Amethyst to the bathroom.

"Slate?" Scarlet asked again as he kept moving without answering her.

"Give me a moment sis, I'll just get change," he said before entering his room.

Scarlet worriedly looked at him before looking back at the closed bathroom door, Amethyst wasn't looking good and both of them being wet doesn't look like it was good news.

"Uhmmm, escuse me miss Miller, it seems miss Evans have no clothes with her right now," the caretaker came out and said.

"Okay, let's get a few of mine that she could wear," Scarlet nodded her head and wheeled herself towards her room while the caretaker follows.

"What about her?" she asked as she took out some clothes.

"She was quiet and just staring blankly," the caretaker replied.

"Amethyst," Scarlet sighed for when they re entered the bathroom, Amethyst was sitting on the bath leaving the water open but she wasn't doing anything at all.
