'It really is suffocating just being near it. It feels like my body is plunging deeper and deeper down towards the bottom without a chance of surviving.'
Amethyst felt like her vision started becoming dimmer and dimmer as if she really was plunging down the water even though she was standing far above it and far from it.
The darkness surrounding her became darker and darker as if imprisoning her without a chance to see the light.
"Amethyst?"
Amethyst snapped out of her vision when a hand was placed on her shoulder and she hear her name being called.
"You look pale, are you sure you are alright?" Slate asked.
He had walked up when fifteen minutes later, Amethyst still haven't come down.
It was not her normal routine whenever she starts collecting for the materials.
She would start wondering around as she get in the character.
"Do I? I guess I might be hungry, didn't eat anything before coming here," she replied with a shrug.
"Let's go, I have ordered some food, you can eat that," he said walking ahead.
Amethyst followed him with a heavy heart.
She wanted to fight it but she didn't know how she should do it.
"Never thought I would see Slate being kind towards another woman other than Scarlet," Gabriel commented when he saw Slate and Amethyst walked over towards the cottage next to theirs.
The two cottages weren't far but was not close to the pools. Just enough walking distance, giving them a chance not to be splashed by the water from the pool.
"Hmmph, she was here to be catered for. Why did she still come when Slate needs to cater for her. Not coming down just for him to come up for her," Clara harrumphed as she glared at Amethyst, who never gave her a glance.
Gabriel shrugged without answering what Clara had just said.
It was well known in the hospital that she likes Slate but it was also well known that Slate never spared her a glance.
"Clare, if you are jealous you should just admit it," one teased her.
"Shut it," Clara hissed making the other chuckle.
The others were simply onlookers, as long as Clara does not go overboard with her jealousy, then she can talk all she wants.
Plus the lady named Amethyst, wasn't someone who was wanting some catering.
They heard her speak to Slate like normal without acting coy or anything, something Clara had been doing ever since she saw Slate.
And it doesn't seem that Amethyst was the kind of woman who seeks attention but instead goes on her own pace.
Maybe because Slate brought her with him that he was looking after her, Clara was just too jealous to see that and blame Amethyst for Slate's action.
"She must have sharpened her dagger," Amethyst commented as she eats.
Slate frowned at what she was suddenly saying.
"Your admirer, she had been glaring daggers at me since the beginning," she said with a shrug.
Slate just glared at her making her laugh, she was glad he was here actually.
Because despite her being near the water, she wasn't feeling too suffocated.
She will slowly go and approach the pool later, even if she can't get some materials today, if she can improve with her trauma. Then she can come back and do the materials later.
Soon, Slate was called for some little activities, despite not really wanting to join, his colleagues were able to pull him along.
'So you weren't as aloof as you seem,' Amethyst thought with a smile before she took a deep breath and waslked over towards the pool.
Every step feels heavy and a feet closer, she feels like she was suffocating even more.
When she felt like she was about to lose her breath, she stopped and remained at her spot, she remained in the side, as if watching the whole place but she would look at the pool from time to time.
'That's right, slowly, let's get used to it very slowly,' she thought and waited for her to feel better before taking another step.
It wasn't easy because her feet feels to heavy for her to actually move them. She just kept telling herself that she will be fine and that the place wasn't the same as the past.
That those people were no longer there.
Actually it was not that serious of a trauma but there were very few who would face them on their own. And now she was doing just that.
"Hey, Slate, let's go. It is our turn," Clara pulled on Slate's arm.
She noticed he was looking at that woman who accompanied him here.
"Doctor Thompson, I am not at ease with you calling me by my name. Doctor Miller, is what you can call me," Slate told her before walking ahead of her.
He can only join because everyone had pulled him in doing it but he didn't expect for them to go as far as to actually team him up with this person.
"Last time," he said to Gabriel with a serious tone.
He was referring to him being matched up to Clara when it was obvious she has a thing for him.
Gabriel raised both his hands, "I wasn't part of those who pushed you two together."
"But you currently are the one leading," his tone became even more serious that Gabriel could only swallow hard.
Slate was not completely aloof as he still interacts with other people but he has things he can't tolerate. Such as clingy woman who doesn't get a clue and even with him being straightforward, they still choose o pester him.
This is not some kind of drama where those who pester the aloof guy would get the guys attention.
In the end, Clara actually became part of the list of people Slate actually didn't like.
"I'll speak with everyone, this will be your last part in this activity and you can do whatever you please," Gabriel relented.
It was already enough that Slate actually joined a game but to actually cross his bottom line, their colleagues truly knows no fear.
It was obvious that once this ends, Slate would be ignoring a whole lot of people.
Gabriel could only sympathize with them as they were unaware of this as of this moment.
Then Gabriel glanced at Amethyst, who was now returning to her cottage.
True to her words when they saw her a while ago, she really wasn't there to bother them and was there for a different purpose.
'Oh well, it seems that I will be seeing my good friend here being different,' Gabriel thought before he called for the start of the game.
Amethyst sighed as she took out a canned iced coffee. She brought some snacks and of course, her favorite, coffee, knowing that they might stay here until afternoon.
Others would find coffee to be making them even more nervous but coffee actually helps her calm down.
'Just a few more feet and I would be able to get close to the pool. That is some wide leap for me who never tried getting close before,' she thought as she sipped from her coffee.
'The memories still return but it seems I can tolerate it.'
She took a deep breath and looked up to the pools, 'I guess I would be able to get some materials today, if I keep going with the same pace.'
She felt invigorated as she thought of the things she will do once she can get close to the pool.
