* Noise *

"This stinks of dead" Rebecca said as she followed Ethan into the dark corridors in search of some food for herself.

Ethan "It's better if you don't ask."

The strange smell Rebecca smelled wasn't hallucination, the dark hallway was more of a blessing to Rebecca than it was to Ethan, who had to see multiple bodies lying on the floor, each more disfigured than the next.

"It's times like these that I envy you Ethan since you can see in the dark and can take better care of yourself" Rebecca complained as she clung tighter to the licker's back.

"Tell me about it...I'm actually envious of you right now because I'm seeing things that you don't see and that will possibly give me nightmares at night," Ethan thought.

Ethan "are you sure you don't want us to use one of the medicinal plants to cure your ankle?"

Rebecca "I told you Ethan...we better not use those plants to treat this little wound as we will most likely need it when we are facing some kind of creature."

Ethan "Fine...but if we get into any fights with any kind of creature I will place the green plant we have unmixed on you to avoid any accidents that may occur since you are the most vulnerable."

* Grunt*

"Excuse me it's my stomach...I'm starving "Rebecca replied embarrassed as she reassured Ethan who jumped in shock at the sound of her stomach.

Ethan "One more thing now to add to the list...as it is I think we are going to take longer, so we are going to split up better and since Rebecca you are the most vulnerable I will let you go with my 3 lickers who are going to protect you."

Rebecca "Are you going to leave me alone with your pets...please don't."

Ethan "Yeah... while I look for something to eat for you and if I can find something for your ankle too."

"Don't go Ethan...I'm just afraid of the dark "Rebecca said whispering the last part as she covered her face in embarrassment.

"You're seriously telling me you're afraid of the dark when we're facing creatures that should only be in anyone's worst nightmares "ethan couldn't believe that the girl who had faced multiple creatures with him was afraid of the dark.

"Yes I'm afraid of the dark! " Rebecca shouted angrily at Ethan, who moments later covered Rebecca's mouth to keep her from screaming any more or she might attract anything to her location.

"Well we're not going to get separated...but truth be told I'm a little nervous about the fact that you're with a bad tube and that I have an obligation to protect you a lot more than I did before so don't blame me for what I'll do "Ethan said as he moved closer to Rebecca's ankle without her noticing.

Placing both hands on Rebecca's ankle, Ethan gave a quick shot to place everything as it was causing a loud scream to come out of Rebecca's mouth, who was silenced shortly after by Ethan's hand who soon after threw the only green plant he had left unmixed at her.

Tears welled up in Rebecca's eyes from the severe pain she had felt, she wanted to get angry at Ethan and yell at him for what he had done but the strange sounds took all her attention.

* Sounds * * Sounds * * Sounds * * Sounds *

Rebecca "I'm gonna get even for this."

Ethan "I'm sorry...but it was necessary or else if I had cured you with the green plant I might have caused some dysfunction in your tubule that would possibly be permanent so I had to see if there wasn't something else like some movement in your leg joints."

"Seeing that you're okay...now if I can just let my lickers deal with whatever threat is around here "Ethan said as he lowered Rebecca off his licker's back who moment later ran off to finish off the oncoming zombies.

"I feel useless "Rebecca said as she sat on the ground not realizing she was on the body of a dead person.

"What is this? "Rebecca asked as she tried to figure out what she was touching.

Ethan "You know you're sitting on a dead body."

Rebecca "I don't believe you...you're just trying to scare me."

Ethan "I'm very serious...look take this flashlight and see for yourself."

After grabbing the flashlight in fear Rebecca lowered her hand to point the flashlight to see where she was sitting and to her bad luck she was sitting on the back of a corpse.

♪ I scream ♪

"Hush woman... Can't you see that we are alone and that your screams cause too many echoes in the walls?"

"You're a bad person "Rebecca whispered.

Ethan are you crying?"

Rebecca "I'm not"

Rebecca's tears had betrayed her causing guilt to flood Ethan, who had decided to play a joke on her for causing so much trouble by being so stubborn in not wanting to use the green plant to heal Rebecca.

"I'm sorry Rebecca... "Ethan tried to apologize as he watched Rebecca curl into a little ball in the corner of the wall where there was nothing.

Rebecca "It's okay...I forgive you...I'm sorry for getting so sentimental it's just that it was a long time ago that my dad disappeared and being in the dark reminds me of the days when I was alone after my caregiver left..."

Ethan "I didn't know that...I'm really sorry..."

Rebecca "It's okay...it happened a long time ago..."

* laughs*

Rebecca hadn't told Ethan everything, there were many things she held close to her heart but it wasn't Ethan's duty to pry into the girl's personal things, but he still intended to help her while he was together.

"Well let's go...I won't be mad at you for having a flashlight and not giving it to me because I know you didn't do it with bad intentions "Rebecca said as she turned the flashlight back on so I can see again.

The corridors were full of corpses so avoiding tripping over the corpses they slowly began to advance through the corridors, they had to look for some bullets or something that would be useful for Rebecca to protect herself so they couldn't leave any place without checking.

"for now I need you to search the rooms on the right...I'll take care of searching the rooms on the left "Ethan said as he handed her the rifle he had on his back which apparently according to Rebecca was a normal gun and not one like the two guns they had.

"Take this as a precaution too," Ethan spoke again as he handed her one of his pistols with some bullets in it.

With that Ethan and Rebecca split up to find something they could use.

* sound*

The first door was apparently open, so it was a good sign for Ethan to enter without first seeing if there was some kind of creature hiding inside.

Apparently there was nothing there, so letting his guard down Ethan began to search the cabinets there.

"There's nothing... "Ethan complained as he started moving everything around the room looking for anything, but all he found were pictures.

"Where are these pictures from?" wondered Ethan, he didn't know what they were for or if it was from some sort of secret location so he decided to keep them in his backpack.
