Chapter 10

The Hunter's Pursuit

As Jake Crawford slipped away from the abandoned building, a newfound sense of confidence emanated from him. The acquisition of Charles's assault rifle and the unlocking of the Basic Firearms skill marked a significant turning point in his journey through the warzone.

Moving swiftly through the desolate streets, Jake formulated his next steps. The impending deadline for the side mission loomed over him, emphasizing the urgency of reaching the north camp. Equipped with the newly acquired assault rifle and additional resources, he felt a surge of determination.

With the fading daylight casting elongated shadows across the war-torn landscape, Jake adopted a cautious yet purposeful stride. The warzone, a labyrinth of danger and opportunity, awaited his exploration. He understood that every step could lead to a potential threat or an unforeseen advantage.

Checking his watch, Jake noted the ticking seconds counting down to the approaching deadline. The pressure intensified, compelling him to navigate through the treacherous terrain with a sense of urgency. The hunger stats lingered in his consciousness, a constant reminder of the delicate balance between survival and peril.

"I have left with 21 hours ...."

Utilizing the acquired knowledge of Basic Firearms, Jake assessed his proficiency with the assault rifle. The weight of the weapon felt familiar in his hands, and he envisioned the strategic advantages it could offer in both confrontations and stealthy maneuvers.

As Jake ventured deeper into the warzone, he encountered remnants of the city's past—crumbling buildings, abandoned vehicles, and the occasional eerie silence interrupted only by distant echoes. The shadows seemed to conceal both threats and hidden opportunities.

"Where did the others go ?"

After looking for some distance, he didn't find any other enemy soldiers yet so he was worried about it . And there was also the sniper which is a risky factor , Earlier he was very focused on eliminating Charles that he didn't observe which direction the sniper went .

Feeling worried Jake walked across several alley and thinking about something he looked towards the dark sky and his eyes immediately caught sight of something , at a particular building.

There was someone lying on the roof top and when he looked closely, that person seems one of the enemy soldier .

"A sniper ?"

This was the first thought that came to his mind . He aimed the gun at the person on the roof but before he fired , Jake hesitated . There was atleast fifteen meter distance between them and since his skill was still in basic firearms then his shots have a large chance of getting missed .

If the bullet missed hitting the target then the enemy will be alarmed and his location will be exposed ,there was also a chance of the enemy calling his teammates and if that happens, Jake Crawford didn't have chance to escape alive .

"I have to get near ... atleast near enough to get clear aim "

Thinking like that , Jake began to slowly advance towards the enemy soldier , he masked his presence in shadows and even his breathing was held up in order to not to alarm the enemy.

Since the enemy soldier was facing towards left side , Jake was slowly closing on him from right side . The soldier didn't knew he was now currently being preyed by the messenger that they were pursuing before .

As he was watching the area , trying to find anything suspicious. He suddenly felt his vision getting blurry and blood spilled from his forehead, the last thing he heard before he died was a firing sound and soon he fell from the roof to the ground , dead.

Bang !

The clear gunshot sound traveled across the area and soon the reaming three people heard the gunshot sound. Mark was alarmed when he heard the gunshot sound so he called his men to track their status but except two people who answered his words , Charles and the newbie communication device wasn't responding.

"Don't tell me ...!"

Mark who was on a rooftop , had a change in his expression. He was smart so he immediately understood that those two men were dead and they must be killed by the messenger .

Mark immediately warned his remaining two people to check the gunshot sound.

"Remember Charles and the newbie are dead , the enemies messenger already took two of us our men . So don't underestimate him and shoot him down at first sight of the target ! "

One of the men couldn't help but say

"But about the order of captain?"

Mark coldly replied

"I will take responsibility! Just kill him ."

The two people replied seriously

"Yes ! "

Closing the communication device, mark face was filled with anger . He lost two of his men and if he didn't kill the Messenger then his career would be over.

Thinking about his sudden crisis , mark began to hate the messenger.

"You better don't get into my hands or else I will personally send you to hell ."

Gritting his teeth he took his sniper gun and began to adjust his postions towards left side . He already found a good ground to snipe so he just didn't know the enemy's location yet but now he has a rough idea .

Adjusting the scope , mark began to wait patiently for his prey . His two men were already closing on the enemy location so the chances of a confrontation is very high .

At that time ,he can kill the enemy messenger easily . All he has to now is wait , wait for the enemy to fall for his trap .

"Just you wait !"

.....

With the unlocking of Basic Firearms, Jake pondered the significance of skill upgrades. He grasped the correlation between mission completion, leveling up, and acquiring skill points. The path to proficiency in firearms required a systematic approach, a delicate dance between survival and strategic advancement.

"Two down, three more to go !"

Jake Crawford began to loot the dead soldier and soon he found good items on him.

[ 1 x Assualt rifle, 2 x small ammunition , 1 x grenade , 1 x communication device , 1 x binocular]

[ Binoculars - Has a range of upto 500 meters .

Equipping everything Jake left the area. His determination surged as he traversed through the war-torn landscape, mindful of potential enemy encounters and the limited time at his disposal.

The warzone embraced Jake as both a player and a survivor. Every decision, every encounter, and every skill unlocked shaped the narrative of his journey. As he was thinking about his potential skill , he didn't knew that the enemy were already laid a perfect trap to kill him.
