Requiem of Souls (Original)

Did you ever wonder that there might be another world? a world where magic exists? A world where dragons, devils, gods and more. Well, our Mc thought that those worlds were but the fantasy of crazed writers, and would only read about them in books and stories. However, he was transported to such a world, he and his classmates. A world where the laws made by men were easily bent, where life itself was not worth the pebbles on the roads. Betrayed by his classmates and offered as an unholy sacrifice, Daiki finds himself in hell, bound to eternal torment and destitution, forced to undergo hideous torments for sins he has yet to commit, Daiki swears to bring down the ones responsible over his demise. The story 'truly' starts with the journey to hell and its seven circles, it is but the beginning of an event that will shake the heavens. "I shall bring the divine to their knees and call upon the requiem...For it is my task...and my revenge." (World mythology is included in this story, from Christian: like the fallen angels. The four horsemen the princes of hell, even Celtic, Indian, African, Greek, Hebrew, Egyptian and more. A lot of mythologies have been included in this story to add to its complexity and beauty, I hope you are a fan of old myths, this story is filled with them) Before you start reading the reviews i advise you to read for yourself first, positive or negative reviews might give you a wrong pre based idea on the story, many great stories in this website have horrible reviews and many poor stories have positive ones, you are the judge of your choice don't let others make you refuse a story just because their opinion of it is different of yours. Btw I am a non-native speaker and have self-taught myself English. So if you find mistakes please help me with proofing.

The four great ones.

Appearing behind Gilgamesh I swiped with my scythe expecting to hit something but the bastard moved away with the sound of thunder booming throughout the field.

He seems to be able to move with the speed of lightning. That is not as fast as light but still, it is quite impressive. However, I can't think of anyone being capable to move at such absurd speed without drawbacks… or even being able to control it. I know this because I had mastered many kinds of magic even lightning when I was with Vindir.

"Insolent fool, you attack people from the back!" shouted Gilgamesh dissatisfied with my attack preference.

I just shrugged saying

"This is a fight where only the victor has the right to claim who is right and who is wrong."

This only made him feel more frustrated, and that is what I need.

"Such insolence!" roared Gilgamesh and called upon thunder, it was larger than a tree trunk and was heading my way.

I just had to shadow step away from it as it landed on the ground crystalizing sand into deformed and fragmented glass.

"Hmm, that looks dangerous," I said taunting the man.

Sparks of lightning erupted from all around him threatening to burn anything that got closer.

I just had to hold my scythe forward and grin, there was no way I would lose to this guy at my current level. Let's just play along first.

I moved forward ignoring the sparks of lighting that shot towards me. One even landed o my left shoulder, instead of feeling any pain it was just a slight numbing that I ignored.

I summoned a water torrent and cast it forward.

Normally people would think that it is a bad idea to fight water with lightning, but they are mistaken. Pure water is an insulator unlike normal tap water or worse salt water which conducts electricity.

The water torrent only served as a distraction. I took a spin in mid-air using the scythe to further boost my rotational speed. But in mid-air, while it as spinning like a top I used shadow step appearing behind Gilgamesh and striking downwards.

The hit was just a fancy combo I tried to do, but it served its purpose as it landed on the back of Gilgamesh slicing a part of his armor.

The blade itself would normally not be able to damage his armor, he was something of great resistance, but adding the Decay ability to the blade I was able to age anything in contact making the armor brittle with just a scratch.

Gilgamesh instantly thundered backward a few feets behind me and held his spear like spear

"Thunder lord's decree!" he called upon lightning from the weather and pressed forward with all his strength.

The shot was too fast for me to dodge as it pierced my back and penetrated my heart. And exited the other way.

"This is the limit of your power Herald." Said Gilgamesh

"Idiot," I said as I smirked while blood was flowing from my mouth, though I was in a perilous situation and my insides were being fried, I still held the upper hand.

"Rewind," I called and the world stopped for a moment.

The words coming from Gilgamesh's mouth became deep as he said them in backward. It was like a tape being played back as the spear that was piercing me was retracted and the wounds healed back. I knew his next move so I knew what to do. It was at the moment that Gilgamesh thundered away that I canceled my ability. It consumed about 20k mana, it was not a great cost but still, it was enough, the only problem was the 1-day cooldown on the skill but if used properly I won't be needing to use it again.

The moment time resumed Gilgamesh appeared behind me, but before he could pierce me I just had to sidestep his attack. Then instantly retaliated while catching his extended hand with the chain on my left.

I caught him off-guard and a surprised look was plastered on his face, I couldn't help but give a grin on my right hand that had the scythe on it rushed forward.

As long as I am catching him he cannot escape using his thunder ability, and while he is still unable to understand what is happening I loped off his head.

It unceremoniously rolled down the sand while a look of disbelief was forever stuck on his unresponsive head.

I turned around and saw War standing still, he was not bothered the slightest by the death of his so-called Disciple

"You seem rather apathetic towards the death of Gilgamesh," I said

"Indeed, he was weak his death is proof enough, he was not deserving of my blessing," said War

"So what? You don't seem to be one that would avenge his disciple will you," I said as I held my scythe up and aimed it towards him.

"No, However, you seem like one that would benefit from this," he said as he pressed his hand forward.

"Brothers." Said War at empty air

I squinted my eyes not knowing what he was going on about.

Three distinguished flames rose around me.

Green, black and purple.

Three beings emerged from them.

The purple flame revealed a slime I knew well.

Pestilence

One of the four major ideas.

Lathed and hated for his ability to corrupt whatever he comes in contact with, he was exiled by the divine to the lower realm, forever he had a hate towards their oppression and developed a hunger for their essence

Famine

Simple as that.

My patron showed up.

"It's not every day you meet the four major ones…" said Vendir as he approached me.

"Hmm, you became as the Herald, though a lesser blessing still your soul is banished from meeting me… intriguing…" said Death

"So much fun these days meeting you herald. You are an interesting person indeed" said Famine "May your evil spread" he added with a snicker.

"You lived that prison Herald… you truly are worthy of our blessing…"

"I gave mine, brothers; now it is your turn." Said War

"Indeed, he is truly worthy, though I wish not to fight the Divine myself I would want to see them handle this one," said Pestilence

"You all seem to be wanting to control me don't you?" I said "You want me to do what you couldn't… indeed I have qualms with those bastards, but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth knowing that you want to use my objective as means to your ends." I said a bit dejected.

"We have no goals Herald," Said War "We only want to see what kind of a world you will be making, you have been tasked by the oldest one to bring the Requiem, we want to see it. We grew bored from their oppression and ruling; we want to see something new." Said War

"Indeed, I grew bored; the old one tasked me to take care of you Herald. He knows about your suffering and your anguish so as he said, we will impart you with our blessings, may it be helpful to your conquest" said Death as he pressed his hand forward.

Your aura ability has mutated.

Your aura corrodes your enemies, plague and diseases will corrupt their bodies as your release your aura.

"Hoo, these are interesting abilities there," I said

"They should help you in your time of need, now do you believe yourself ready to conquer the heavens?" said Pestilence.

"Yea, I guess I should head there, I have more things to do first, but tell me how can I go to the upper realms? You should probably know of a way."

"There is a river that can be crossed, the king of this land knows of its whereabouts. it will lead you to an ever so extending sea, once you reach the end of the world, you will find the gates to heaven, you can cross if you prove yourself worthy to the gatekeeper, once inside you will find yourself in the first floor of the heavenly dungeon." Said Death.

"It is like the circles of hell I guess," I said

"Indeed, however unlike in hell where the domain of monsters was first, and you needed to go deeper to the end of the dungeon. The heavenly realm's dungeon is the opposite, once you reach the end you will find yourself in the true upper realm, where the power of the divine is not restrained, I advise you not to fight against them until your grow stronger" said Famine.

"They are no pushovers." Said Pestilence

"I just need to get the final piece of the seal; I know it is in the last part of the dungeon."

"Even if you unlock the seal on hell, I don't think that the demons will be willing to attack the upper realm." Said Death.

"Not if I open the gates to hell inside the Heavenly realms," I said with a smirk

"Oh, you can do that?" said Death.

"It is a work in progress," I said

"Then until your battle commences we shall wait and observe. May you be victorious Herald." Said Death as the three others disappeared from view.

"Bring down the Requiem." Said War as he disappeared in a blaze of flame.

"They are indeed interesting," said Vendir who just showed up in front of me.

"What will you be doing with this corps?" asked Vendir. As he looked at the falling body of Gilgamesh

I smirked and said

"Are you thinking of what I am thinking?" I said

Vendir then could only smile as he said

"Indeed, you truly are frightening…"

I then pressed my hand on the fallen corpse…
