I woke up quite early today. No, not because I had a good night sleep. It was because I woke up after I had a nightmare—a terrible one.
In that nightmare, I saw Meng Bao replaced my old Yang Boss and became an overbearing young CEO who enslaved me into working with him… both day and night, in the office and in his room. I woke up after I remembered that Meng Bao acted so overbearing and dominated me under him.
I went to the bathroom and washed my face, and looked myself in the mirror, "Shi Ying, why do you have a spring dream? That's only for men!" I yelled at my own reflection in the mirror. I couldn't believe that I actually had a spring dream similar to what men usually had. And it was with Meng Bao!
Meng. Bao.
The same man whom I blocked last night! This was ridiculous!
"Okay, Shi Ying. We both know that you love gushing over two handsome men kissing. But why is this time, only one handsome man? Why Meng Bao only? And why is he on top of you! Shi Ying, you clearly have a problem," I said to myself in the mirror. Knowing that I had been talking with myself for too long, I hurried to do my morning routine before I went to work.
I used a facial cleanser and brushed my teeth before getting ready for my morning makeup routine. As a woman working as a secretary, wearing makeup is a sign of professionalism at work. At least, I didn't want to get scolded by my boss because I was bare-faced.
It took me a while to apply everything, from cream, foundation, blush with a beauty blender, et cetera.
"Aish, why did I always smudged my lip tint," I complained after failing for the third time to apply a perfect lip tint. After I felt like I passed the bare minimum, I took a deep breath and picked the most dreaded thing on the planet.
"Okay, eyebrow pencil, please don't disappoint me today. We have been a frenemy for so long," I said while taking out the eyebrow pencil.
Drawing eyebrows had always been the hell of me. I took my small ruler from the drawer and placed it under my eyebrow to ensure that the result would be straight after.
"J—Just a bit moree…" my hand trembled as I continued drawing my eyebrows. "And done!" I put down the pencil and the ruler. I checked my appearance and laughed at myself.
"My eyebrows are a bit crooked, but oh well, there is only my old boss in the office anyway. This is what I call… contemporary art," I laughed while taking a selfie and then sent it to Shi Qiang.
*Ying Jie: Contemporary eyebrows, one of a kind art.*
I texted. And then got a reply soon after:
*Qiang: Hahahahahah! Ying Jie, why is it so crooked!*
*Ying Jie: Aish, I spent forty minutes on this! Appreciate the art!*
I laughed as I wore my blazer and skirt that fits my size and went to the bus stop. It only took me two bus stops to reach Yang Group Office. I checked my watch, and it was still quite early, seven thirty in the morning.
But my boss was a workaholic who would often come earlier. Since his wife, Madam Yang often left him alone in his huge mansion. He was a loyal husband to the core, so my boss, Mr. Yang Zhuhuo, would often torture me instead by working late at night for whatever reason.
'I really should ask for more overtime pay, seriously,' I sighed as I exited the second bus stop and walked to the Yang Group Office.
Yang Group was a wealthy and leading company in many industries in China, but mostly textile and raw material export. What made me wonder was the ability of Yang Group to own the whole building for us. Since we moved from the old building about five years ago, when I was just twenty-two. My boss was known to be a cheapskate. How could he waste so much money where some of the floors were actually empty.
And when I asked about this problem, his answer was just, 'A certain lazy bum bought this building for me as my golden birthday gift, he said that since I've reached the age of 50, I should at least have my own building.'
'Tch, what's the use of this big building if there are some wasted spaces, right?'
'No, boss, I don't care about your complaint. I just want to ask who is this lazy bum you're talking about. I want to marry him.' I thought at that time.
I greeted the security guard who was familiar with me and strutted to the receptionist, "Xiao Xue, has Mr. Yang come this morning?"
"Not yet, Ying Jie, but…" Xiao Xue, the young receptionist, tilted her head and gazed at someone sitting on the lobby sofa. Xiao Xue couldn't help but blush when that man spared her a glance. "T—That man has been here since thirty minutes ago, saying that he arrives early because he wants to see his new office. He has a meeting with Mr. Yang."
"A meeting?" I frowned. I didn't remember that Mr. Yang had a meeting this early.
"Well, he said that he set up this meeting with Mr. Yang last night. Why don't you talk to him about this?" Xiao Xue said. And she whispered, 'Jie, ask for his number, okay? He is so damn handsome, I'm about to faint here!'
"Ehh…" Xiao Xue's enthusiasm made me curious. I went straight to the receptionist counter, so I didn't notice other people. Since this lobby had always been packed with so many businessmen and office workers.
I followed Xiao Xue's line of sight and was dumbstruck when I saw a man sitting on the sofa. He leaned his body leisurely on the sofa. He wore a silver suit that made him stand out in the crown, especially with his quiff style, platinum blonde hair. He stared at me with his deep brown eyes and a grin on his lips.
'Wow... what a total hunk....' I commented as I was awed.
This man… had a face that was Hollywood worthy. In fact, if someone said that he was a blockbuster movie actor, I'd definitely believe it.
"Um.. Jie, he told me that his name is Alexander Priest."
