Turning over a new leaf

"Who are you?" Arthur asked Dreigh for the second time. "Why can I feel my master's energy from you?" this time he was not mistaken. The energy he felt certainly came from Dreigh.

The soldiers surrounding them slowly closed the distance and were ready to fight the remnant in anxiousness. This was the remnant who nearly wiped out one battalion of soldiers sent to the front lines, they need to be cautious. Before they could launch an attack, a tornado suddenly formed hiding the Singular and the remaining remnants from the approaching soldiers.

"WHO ARE YOU?" Arthur was becoming impatient. His mind was had become more messy. The man before him was clearly not his master but why do he feel that the man was has a relationship with his master.

Dreigh could not understand Arthur, he remembered that someone had asked this question before and he already answered so why was this man keep on asking who was he. "I don't understand," Dreigh uttered in a confused voice. He was not able to recover yet from the illusion made by Rozen.

When he got his bearing that was when he noticed the wall of wind surrounding them. He could also see his friends who were unconscious on the ground and Arthur who was intensely staring at him.

"What are you doing here?" Dreigh asked after he realized that the man who was questioning him was Arthur. The moment his vision cleared he saw that Arthur was frowning at him.

"What? I came to save you from a maniac." Arthur answered despite his annoyance.

"You, why would you do that?" Dreigh became vigilant as the realized their current situation. He can't fully trust this man even though he said he had saved them.

"I don't know, I felt my master's energy and came to see only to find you again. I even went to too much trouble to destroy the Shadow barrier created by the man who wanted to kill you," Arthur crossed his hands on his chest and looked impatient.

"That was Commander General Rozen. He hated us, specifically we remnants. I did not think that he would really resort to murder in order to get rid of us. He even possesses some strange power," he was not really surprised that the general would think of killing them what surprised him the most was that the general's strange power.

"Humph, his using Shadows to do his bidding. I suspect that he is being controlled by someone in the dark. No one can control a Shadow except those who had the power of darkness in them. It was probably lent to him and now he had become crazy," Arthur explained with all seriousness. Dreigh looked at the man and did not know if he would laugh or cry at the sudden change in attitude. "No ordinary person can hold that much power thus driving them insane. The only people who can control this power are much like us remnants," he added after some thought.

"That's very helpful information, thank you." Driegh stood up and patted his clothes.

Arthur watched as Dreigh slowly stood up and smile to himself, he suddenly felt complicated. "What are you smiling there for?"

"Nothing, you actually talked to me like we are having a normal conversation –" Dreigh was interrupted by Arthur's glare so he chose to stop talking.

"Just to give you a heads-up, that general you talked about, he had pointed an accusing finger against you guys. Saying that you colluded with me and tried to kill him," Arthur gave Dreigh a mysterious smile. He was openly provoking Dreigh, the urge to mess with him dominated any curiosity he had before.

Dreigh could only sigh in exasperation at the sudden turn of events. They were nearly killed and now they are being framed? Did they miss anything, oh right they were forced into that dreary place, pushed to the front lines, watched like they did something wrong, two more experience is enough to call them veterans. He looked at Arthur and carefully observed him, he did not expect this man to help them, what a sudden turn of events.

"Let me handle this then," he gave Arthur a nod and he stepped forward. The wall of wind suddenly disappeared and he saw soldiers with their swords drawn and ready to attack anytime. He also saw Captain Mathis standing not far away from them.

"Captain," he gave the man a nod.

"Come with us. We will thoroughly investigate this matter and promise to give you a fair trial," Captain Mathis directly spoke. A commander general was hurt, even though he can't fully believe that Dreigh and the others could do this kind of scheme but he cannot disregard that a high ranking official was badly hurt and several soldiers died.

"I can't do that. General Rozen has been possessed and I am not sure if we will remain safe within your protection since I do not know the identity of the person behind all this," he gave his answer calmly. There is not much merit on Arthur's words but there is no reason to fully disregard his words either. He better stay on the safe side and play it safe.

"What do you mean by that Dreigh?" Dreigh was hinting that there was a traitor inside their ranks or that someone with dangerous thoughts was lurking around them.

"I am also not sure Captain, you're the only who had the power to get more information about it. It was General Rozen who wanted to kill us, we were not even given the chance to fight for our lives. If it were not for Arthur we might have already died." He knew that this statement would push them more to the guilty side but he can't lie. It will also serve as a reminder for Captain Mathis.

Mathis caught what Dreigh was about to do but before they could act, another massive whirl wind appeared covering the whole area. Dreigh and Arthur carried the other four remnants and left the place. Captain Mathis and the soldiers were left to deal with the aftermath.

After a good distance away from the military institute, Dreigh stopped and laid the two people on his arms on the grass covered ground. Arthur also laid the other two and looked at Dreigh.

"I did not expect you to understand my intention." Arthur 'hmph' and looked away. It was conditioned response he practiced when he was with his master. They were taught to observe their master and memorize all his quirks in order to protect him but it did not come in handy at the critical moment.

"Naturally because I'm good at observing people," the singular proudly answered. "But are you sure of what you did?" he added switching from a bashful face to a serious one.

Dreigh looked at the distance before he answered the question, "yes."

"Change is can either be for the best or the worst, so think twice before you decide to change."
