The Other Bloodline

Levi was impressed by how his ancestors decided to preserve their strength. Something that can never be stolen or lost. It was convenient for someone like him.

They were clearly cunning—though he docked points for not finding solutions to protect themselves from the sun. Being a sunwalker was now his sole mission.

Maybe that's why every race came together to end his, because they were scared. Scared of what the demons would become if they could walk during the day. He vowed to be the first ever just to see the fear in their eyes.

He sat atop an active volcano, with magma occasionally spilling and bathing him completely in it. If it was him a year ago this would've burnt him but this felt like normal water temperature for a shower.

Levi sat cross legged, both hands formed fists and he held them just above his navel area. Lilith had told him it didn't matter if he was sitting or standing but he was a geek who'd read these type of novels so he wanted to do it right.

He was already within himself but this was just the surface, Lilith told him to dig deeper—whatever that meant he was trying.

"This is useless, how do I even go deeper within myself? It makes no sense!" He shouted frustrated, it had been a month and he wasn't getting anywhere.

[You're overthinking it sir. Think of your entire being as an ocean, right now you're where every human can survive the pressures of the water.

But you need to go deeper, the deep seas is where you'll find what you're looking for. Of course this is all metaphorical.]

Metaphorical or not, Levi started imagining he was in the ocean. While Lilith was often useless in his opinion, she had a way of explaining such concepts in ways he can understand.

He appreciated that, at least.

Swimming through the waters of his unconscious mind, testing the waters—he didn't trust even his inner self. His god parent could easily infiltrate after all.

The water was clean and warm, the only difference was that this had no marine life. He dived and swam straight for the bottom—the lower he went the more pressure the ocean exuded.

If he hadn't spent a year working on his body strength the pressure would've crashed him already into mush but he was hanging on.

'Wow, Lilith, you should see this.' He reached the bottom and it didn't look like what he thought the bottom of an ocean would look like.

Levi had to remind himself that he wasn't in a real ocean, the towering building in front of him proved that much. Stuck at the bottom, ancient and forgotten.

The structure was helix shaped. It was made of white marble, he'd never seen heaven before but if he had to imagine it, it would be something like this.

'So this must be my DNA code. How very interesting.' He swam closer and as he did, the doors creaked open.

Welcoming the first demon to grace its presents in a century. It seemed as excited as the boy who accepted to be swallowed whole by it.

"Wow!"

The stairs seemed to go on up infinitely. The first floor had thousands upon thousands of shelves with books.

"Lilith?"

Silence.

"Oh, Lilith?"

Nothing.

He basically jumped for joy. Complete and utter silence, privacy. Finally things were looking up for him, he walked around the library. Levi wanted to see other floors but he couldn't take a single step up the stairs. Like an invisible, strong force prevented him.

"I suppose I can't go up there until I breakthrough? Let's see then."

He looked through the history of his people. They've existed for thousands of years, one of the oldest races in Ancieru—betrayed by the rest more than a century ago. And completely wiped out, well not completely they missed one.

Levi looked into the betrayal and he found himself understanding of the other races. To say his people were monsters would be an underestimate.

Everywhere they appeared death and chaos followed. They survived off blood so he understood their side too. Other races killed animals for food, demons saw these races the same way they saw animals.

'Nature sure is cruel.'

"No wonder they were killed...Though I think I'm going to avenge them. Maybe I've inherited their chaotic nature."

He moved on to what he was actually there for. Foundation skills and something to help him walk in the sun.

Levi was surprised to see how prepared they were, there were different kinds of foundations for different kinds of demons. It came as another shock to learn that he could read the texts.

He couldn't make sense of why, his conclusion was that, since it was in his DNA, he wasn't reading these things from scratch. He was just reminding himself of skills that were locked up and forgotten inside of him.

"Tsk. I thought I was the only hybrid? Elf and demon, eldern and demon, Orc and demon...They were sure busy."

Panic was written all over his face when he couldn't see a hybrid with a canine bloodline. He didn't care whether it was a dog, he just wanted to breakthrough to the Novi gate.

He was ready to give up when a book with a platinum cover caught his eye. It was the only one like it, most of them were bronze, some gold. But that one was the odd one out.

Levi stretched his long arms and reached for it, bringing it closer to him. It read 'demon and werewolf'

"This is it, it must be. As long as I don't have to turn every full moon, I'll be good." He opened it and the knowledge rushed into his mind like a tidal wave.

His body in the outside world was hovering just above ground as he was learning the secrets of his ancestral line.
