After I arrived at the Pokémon Centre, I healed my Charizard, even though he wasn't injured but just needed some rest. After that, I had dinner at a restaurant in Pewter City. Then, I headed back to the Pokémon Centre where I booked a room for myself and slept there, calling it a day.
In the morning, at 7 AM, I woke up. After getting dressed and having breakfast, I headed to an empty area to train my Charizard so that he could show his full capabilities during battle. I also practiced his move "Earthquake" as it is super effective against Rock/Ground-type Pokémon.
It was a move that I taught him using TM26. It wouldn't have been possible for me to afford that TM considering they're really expensive, but it was given to me by my mother when my Charmeleon evolved into a Charizard, and I've trained him using that move ever since.
Anyway, right now I'm in front of the Pewter City Gym. The exterior of the gym was impressive, with sturdy stone walls giving it a fortress-like appearance. The entrance was adorned with large boulders, hinting at the Rock-type Pokémon battles that awaited challengers inside.
The gym's architecture reflected the city's rugged, mountainous terrain, with jagged edges and rocky outcrops adding to its imposing demeanor. The front facade featured intricate carvings of various Rock-type Pokémon, showcasing the gym leader's affinity for these sturdy creatures.
As I pushed open the heavy wooden doors, I was greeted by the faint scent of earth and minerals. The interior was dimly lit, with rugged stone walls lining the battle arena. Large boulders served as obstacles on the battlefield, adding an element of challenge to the gym battles.
And in one of the rocks, there was a young man with spiky black hair, sitting with his legs crossed and arms folded.
When he noticed me, he looked toward me and then said, "Oh, a new gym challenger?"
"Yeah! I'm Izana Kurokawa, from Pallet Town. I'm here to challenge you for the Boulder Badge," I said with confidence and broke into a small smile.
"Oh, then let's see if you have the capabilities to back up your words then! By the way, I'm Brock, the gym leader of Pewter City," he said as he stood up from the rock he was sitting on and positioned himself on the opposite side of the battlefield.
"Oh, isn't there a referee here to judge the battle?" I said as I looked at the empty place where usually, a judge stands.
"Unfortunately, no, the referee is on vacation right now. So, I'll explain the rules. The rules are simple; we will battle with two Pokémon, and whoever first knocks out the opponent's first two Pokémon will be the winner. Only the challenger can change his/her Pokémon during the battle while the gym leader can't," Brock explained the rules.
"Okay then, let's start the match!" I said as I grabbed a Poké Ball from my Poké Belt as he also did the same, and we both threw our Poké Balls toward the air. Streaks of red light came from them before forming two Pokémon: an Onix and a Charizard.
"Charizard! Use Flamethrower toward the ground!" I said as Charizard used Flamethrower toward the ground, causing it to create smoke and prevent the Onix from seeing Charizard.
"Onix! Be careful!" Brock said, seeing this.
"Now! Use Fire Blast!" I said as Charizard gathered fire in his mouth and threw it toward the Onix. The flame started to swirl in a vortex of intense fire with sparks of ember in it as it went toward the Onix.
"Onix! Use Dig!" Brock said, seeing this as he got caught in my trap.
"Gotcha! Now use Earthquake with everything you've got!" I said as Brock widened his eyes. Charizard levitated in the air and then landed on the ground with so much pressure that the gym started to shake.
"Onix! Noo!" Brock said with panic evident on his face.
And then, in the ground, it caused small holes where Onix had dug as it was an impact Charizard caused with his Earthquake.
And from it, we both could see the Onix being unconscious as he fainted, unable to bear the earthquake while being underground.
"Sigh! It seems I was too hasty and misjudged!" Brock said as he scratched the back of his head.
"Onix! You did good, but it seems the opponent's really strong," he muttered as he brought out the Poké Ball of Onix and called him back to his Poké Ball. Streaks of red light came from it and launched toward Onix as Onix's unconscious body started to disappear and get back to the Poké Ball.
Then Brock put that Poké Ball in his Poké Belt as he took out another Poké Ball and threw it toward the air.
"Geodude! You can do it!" He said as from the Poké Ball thrown toward the air, streaks of red light came from it as it started to form a rocky head with two hands on it and no body.
"Geeeeoooooooduudddeeeeeeeeee," Geodude started to shout to announce his presence, and then locked his eyes with Charizard's, who was levitating in the air using his wings.
Both got into a staring contest as they didn't even blink for once.
"Geodude! Use Rock Throw," Brock said as he pointed his hands toward Charizard.
Then Geodude used his hands and then held onto some rocks near him and started to throw them toward Charizard.
"Charizard! Dodge it using your wings!" I said as I saw Charizard nodding his head upward and downward. He used his wings to move left and right to dodge the incoming Rock Throw.
"Then use Smokescreen!" I said as Charizard breathed out black smoke that covered the whole battlefield, blocking the view of both Charizard and Geodude.
