Rescue - 3

"Did anyone else see?" he asked, his voice suppressed, a red tint still lingering on her cheeks.

"No, I was the only one," he replied, indifferent.

She heaved a sigh of relief and said, "That's reassuring."

He simply nodded without bothering to reply.

The silence between them resurfaced for a moment until she spoke again. As she took out a strange black card with a weird pattern imprinted on it, he got up and moved closer to her, sitting by her side.

"I know I can't repay my debt for my life with this, but please accept it." She extended her hands in his direction, her head down, looking at the ground.

His gaze shifted to the strange black card, inspecting it with curiosity. He accepted the card and asked, "What's this?"

She looked puzzled when he expressed not understanding the card.

"This is the Beneficiary Card of my father's guild. When you show this card to anyone in our guild, you will have free access to all the dungeons, receive the same treatment almost equally mine with almost all the privileges, and enjoy the benefits that an Executive in our guild receives."

"Oh, okay. Which guild does your father own?" he asked, surprise flickering in his eyes.

"Laxan Guild," she replied nonchalantly, though inwardly, her expression carried a sense of pride.

Although he didn't have much information about the guild, as it wasn't significant in the novel and had no importance in the story, in real life, Laxan Guild was one of the largest guilds in the kingdom. With a presence in every city and ownership of over a thousand dungeons across the country, receiving such a card was not ordinary.

"Why is the daughter of such a prestigious guild traveling on public transport?" His eyes naturally squinted in doubt as he accepted the card she handed to him.

This question naturally arose after she revealed such information, as he couldn't easily believe she traveled in public transport instead of a private jet or a car.

"You are doubting me, aren't you? Look at this before I answer that," she pulled out an identification document.

It was a laminated piece containing her personal information—her name, father's name, and other necessary details. This document couldn't be faked or copied as it was bound by blood. Thus confirming she was indeed the real deal.

After carefully examining her document, he nodded, acknowledging that she was authentic.

"Believing now, right? Of course, you do," she smiled pridefully, revealing her pearly whites as she kept her head on her tucked-in knees.

He found himself entranced by her wide, lovely smile and the sparkle in her eyes against her snowy complexion. A hint of rosy warmth graced his cheeks, swept away by the magic of the moment.

"What happened to you? Where are you wandering off?" she nudged him, her face showing concern.

"Uhm... My bad, please continue," he said, coughing as his head shuddered lightly.

'What the heck just happened to me,' he inwardly tsked after that strange feeling he experienced.

'Lise, that's her name? Was there such a character in the novel?' he wondered as her chatter entered one ear and exited the other.

He worked his mind like a slave in the fields, trying to find any results regarding the girl, but unfortunately, he couldn't find anything. However, he did remember one detail, seemingly insignificant but luckily stored in some corner of his mind.

'I used to have a fiance, not really me but Lloyd, and she was from some famous family. The name wasn't mentioned, nor did they expect me to remember. I don't recall...'

His suspicion that the girl beside him, cute and smiley, might be his future fiancée according to the novel, lingered. In his one-sided love, which apparently became mutual, he orchestrated this theory in his mind.

It was the only way he could justify the complex emotions of being attracted and caring—no, more than simply attracted and caring, they were beyond these kinds of simple emotions.

For that moment when their eyes met, he felt a yearning for her, a yearning for her to be by his side forever, to be with him and be his only one for life.

'But why me? Why did I experience that feeling? I'm not Lloyd; I'm Axtrav, stuck in this body,' his mind got muddled up with all those questions popping into his mind with no sensible explanation.

'Am I Axtrav or am I Lloyd... Maybe I'm Bo--'

*Peeoo peeoo* *Pewwwooo Pewwwooo* The sirens from the caravan of vehicles, including ambulances, fire brigades, police, and media, were coming in their direction.

These loud sounds cut off their attention and diverted it to the approaching caravan, making their heads turn towards it.

"They cared enough to come, huh, these corrupted folks!" He was disgruntled, gritting his teeth at their arrival after many had already died.

"My god? This is terrifying!" Her mouth gaped, and her equally plump pinkish lips trembled as she looked at the scene of the incident from afar.

As they reached the calamity scene, it appeared even more horrifying than what they had seen from a distance. The sickening smell of blood permeated the atmosphere around the train, and lumps of squeezed-out flesh resembling a messed-up lasagna were scattered.

"Go, recover everyone from inside, living or dead, and take these injured to the hospital quickly..." As soon as she got out of the black luxurious sedan, she began to order everyone around with her commanding tone and authoritative presence.

After issuing orders, the rescue mission quickly commenced. Troops entered the cabin, rescuing and recovering all the remaining bodies from inside, as he had already taken care of all the injured. Thus, the proper rescue operation began.

Media crews set up their cameras and started reporting the 'Exclusive News'.

*tak* talk*

After she finished giving orders and delegated the paperwork to her juniors, the woman in black elegantly made her way toward him. Her authoritative presence was evident as her silver hair riffled with every step she took.
