{Authors Note: 1 chapter per day, everyday} Once the son of the world's strongest king. Leonardo had all his whims granted at the drop of a hat. Having died at the hands of his younger brother while he slept, he was unaware of his death so it was quite the shock when he found that not only was he no longer the eldest son of the most powerful man to exist, he was now a cute little fox bound to some random commoner girl in a world he doesn't recognize.
As I made my way down the dirt road I casually kept my eyes on my surroundings. After the incident with the hunters in the clearing my day has been going very well, a mana beast flying over head accidentally dropped several fish right in front of me. After pulling them to the side of the road I found an old fire starter kit, praising my good fortune I pulled together a small fire and lit it up. It took nearly half an hour to both get a spark off and have it catch on the sticks and leaves. But I eventually got a fire going and cooked the fish on a flat rock.
Everything was perfect, the sun was high, not a cloud in the sky. My belly was full and there was a thick layer of mist rolling in from the forest. I paused and stared, it was like a tidal wave the fog mimicking the rolling waves as it crashed onto the shore line. As I stared I slowly started to stand up, it was picking up speed and I was fairly certain it just knocked over a tree. Turning tail I ran across the dirt road and into the forest, glancing back I could see the fog was still gaining on me.
Dodging trees and jumping ever bushes I ran through the forest just barely out pacing the mist as is roiled behind me. The scariest part was the lack of sound, even as I watched the fog knock over another weak tree, the entire forest was deathly silent. The only sound was from the beating of my heart as I tried to run faster. My paws made no sound and even my labored breathing made a sound, all was quiet as the fog rolled through. It was as if it ate everything it touched and silenced everything it would eat. Sweat ran down my brow and I quickly looked back to see where the fog was at. In my momentary distraction my foot caught on a loose vine and I was overtaken by the strange fog.
I expected to die, as the fog washed over my body. But all I felt was a soft breeze, I opened my eyes and let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding and looked around. For as far as my eyes could see was a white expanse of nothingness. Walking through aimlessly didn't reveal anything of major interest, but just like in the forest sound was nullified here. Stomping my feet and attempting to scream only caused me to feel stupid. Not sure what else to do I tried to summon my mana. Power exploded in every direction and covered the area in water and ice, however after a few moments the powers started to fade as if they never existed. By this time I exhausted myself and lay panting on the ground.
"Hmmmm Interesting" A voice echoed in the open space. I spun around looking for the source but nothing about my surroundings changed. "To have two elements you must be a rare breed, ohhhhhh and your barley four years old. Extraordinary!" the voice echoed again and after a quick look around nothing changed. I tried to speak but nothing came out. "Now let me just see what your cultivation looks like inside" A sharp pain struck my chest but was gone soon after, I felt around but no wounds remained.
"AAAAHHHHHH this is horrible. How are you still alive? Two cores heavily damaged from over use and poor control. The water core is about to explode and let me tell you, I pity the poor man who stumbles across your mangled corpse. Yeeesh, not to mention your mana flow is so pathetically basic that I'm surprised you could even cultivate at all. Hasn't your mother taught you have to separate your mana flow from your blood yet." The voice paused for a long while "Wait you did you make a second core, your mana veins look to be burned into your body, this artificial web of a cultivation nightmare almost makes me have pity on your soul. Wait.." he paused again "On top of everything your a contracted beast, oh crap. I hope this doesn't break my thousand year oath of peace"
The sound of popping could be heard and a very small figure made of mist appeared in front of me bowing, although I got the impression he wasn't really talking to me "Oh great merciful moon goddess I beseech you for forgiveness for I have unknowingly sinned and soiled your great name" the little man frowned and he bowed his head deeply "No my lady" he nodded his head a few times "Of course I can.." he stopped mid sentence "But my lady.." he stopped mid sentence "Yes my Lady your wish is my command" He suddenly jumped up and gave a deep bow "Apologies my new friend, it seems my five hundred year vacation will be cut short due to my blunder. Tho I have to say I blame you for" the little man shook violently as if he was electrocuted for a few moments before continuing
"Yes well I didn't see the collar until after you mentioned it" He spoke again to no one I could see. I tilted my head in confusion "Ah yes where was I, oh right vacation and oh, my great lady has decided that for the remainder of my time off I am to serve you or face the punishment of my oath. Long story short I'm not supposed to meddle in human affairs but beasts are fair game. Contracted beasts are that hazy middle ground which is why I was given this option at all. My choices are as follows. One have all of my cultivation base striped away violently, be skinned alive and then hung to be slowly eaten by ember beak vultures for a hundred years. Or to serve as your cultivation guide, adviser and mentor for the remainder of my vacation, which is nearly three hundred years left."
"So congratulations my friend you now have a demigod at your disposal although my abilities will be limited to the actions of advice, cultivation help and my many words of wisdom. If you die under my care it is not my responsibility blah blah blah" After all that where I watched a tiny man had a full conversation with himself as I just stood there confused, lost and mana drained. I wasn't even sure if he was talking to me or if he forgot I existed, but soon all the white expanse disappeared and the fog shrank down to nothing as if it never existed.
Looking around daze I saw that I was at the foot of a small mountain, where the clouds felt like they were just out of reach. The mountain was pretty small compared to other mountains I've seen in my old world. Looking down I saw the capital city of Zegna, I didn't remember there being a mountain here so I tried to place my position in relation to the city, looking down I noticed that I could look under the mountain and that what I thought was a mountain was just the peak of one and that this place was floating in the sky just above the city. I quickly backed up and ran right into an invisible force field, ricocheting off the barrier I rolled back down and off the bottom of the mountain peak.
From the shock of falling out of the sky with no wings, being mana exhasted, and physically exhausted from a break neck run, not to mention the fact that I just ran head first into a solid surface hard enough to bounce off it. It is safe to say that I fainted from physical exertion and pain and definitively not because I was scared of heights. Luckily in my unconscious state there a small collection of clouds that surrounded me and slowly brought me back down to solid ground.
I woke up to getting slapped in the face by a tiny hand "He student wake up, rise and shine scaredy mc scaredy pants. Your on solid ground get up" Hearing a strange voice I stirred awake only to see a five inch tall man standing on my nose and completely made from fog. Thinking I was still sleeping I closed my eyes. However my eyes were physically peeled open by the tiny man seconds later. "Am I a joke to you, do you even know how I am" the tiny man paused and he tilted his head "No I suppose you wouldn't I did after all steam rolled you into oblivion for a few seconds, tinkered in your body a bit and essentially started freeloading in your inter-dimensional space all while you were half conscience and with out your permission" He coughed loudly after he spat all that out in a single breath "The names Moog, a demigod under the tutelage of the great moon goddess. Due to me violating several rules and laws with my interactions with you today I am no indebted to you and offer you knowledge and training for the duration of roughly three hundred years. During that time I will be living in your inter-dimensional space" I just stared at the little man speechless, I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and I was still exhausted from blasting all my mana from my body. So I forced my eyes closed and went back to sleep. I heard grumbling from Moog before I felt his disappear from my nose. Yeah this all must be a dream, tomorrow I'll wake up and find Kana. The little weird man was just a bad dream, must be the fish, one of them must have been bad,
