"I have no choice but to go against the Iron Canine, Goibniu Conchorbar. As I've mentioned, he was once a Mafia Head that said to hire the history's best sniper, Ashley Von Dalles. But, unfortunately, that man was the same guy who failed me when I tried to enter the Mafia over that area."
"I'm glad that I didn't join that circus clown. But I have every aspect of giving the old dog a beating with my background for the Mafia, so you can count on me to take him down," suggested Bryan, brimming with confidence and sheer spirit to kill that Mad Hound.
Now that I thought about it... Is there a fleshed-out explanation of how the Mafia works? I remember the novel tells briefly about the organization but only through the recounts of the characters. And the only confirmed ones to be in the Mafia were Ashley and Earl Yan.
I mean, there was Bryan's explanation of the Mafia on my first day, but I was wondering if there's like branches or departments for the group.
"Notice. The Mafia within the Five Domains is an organization considered neutral within the general public's eyes, including the Mages. This is the only association to allow Mage and humans into the ranks so long as the Heads deemed them worthy of fighting."
"It is important to note that the Mafia has been in function for the past thousand years, exceeding the Congregation's and the Arks' reign. The group is further broken down into Sectors, and each Sector is in control of a Domain."
"A Head is the leader of a Sector, and the rest are normal members. For example, Goibniu Conchorbar is the 37th Head within the Teuton Sector of the Mafia. Ashley is the 26th Head within the Campania Sector, succeeded by Waver Forger, a Mage with low-ranking skills."
Ah, I see... So the Mafia has been around for the longest time, huh? Remarkably, they didn't make too much of a fuss with the Arks being around or the creation of the Five Kings. So the boss must be pretty okay with having other groups around. Or he could be just laying low for now.
After all, there is a massive difference between dormant and patient. But I'm getting sidetracked. With the Slayer taking the duel to the Mad Hound, all left is to see if Duncan fits the role of fighting against Astria, the Crystal Princess. Hopefully, I won't die soon.
"Alright then! I have planned for Duncan to go against Astria Faust, provided he can live up to my expectation with the upcoming duel. Once we have defeated all Five Ducklings, we are going against Fabian Brookes and put an end to his cruel actions."
"Lady Roydon, if you would like to help out in the last fight, it would be a pleasure. However, if you wish to step back, I would have no qualms about it," I said, wondering if the Valkyrie would be in combat mode for this Major Mission.
"If I see a need for it, I'll jump in. However, I would be laying low until the enemy goes beyond the standard limits of a normal Major Mission. Then, by the Headmaster's rules and orders, if the Corruption Element is present, I'm forced to step in regardless of any protest," explained Mavislin.
Oh crap, it looks like the Arks have a strict thing about having the Corruption Element. If I use it within any Mission, I might get deleted from the census by my allies.
"That would be fine by me. Okay, the meeting is dismissed, and it's time for me to battle Duncan. Any idea where would be a good place to do that? The Old Chapel looks like a grand building, so I wouldn't want to destroy it by having a duel here," I said, looking at Mavislin.
Tomoe and Raiyen took their leave rather quickly since they said they needed to discuss action plans for another problem. Duncan smiled as he walked over to the window and opened it.
The kid then smiled before standing on the windowsill and diving down to the ground below. I panicked slightly when the kid fell and quickly rushed to the window. I looked down, only to see Duncan landing safely. I swear... Kids scare the living soul out of me.
"Looks like Duncan wants to fight at his favorite spot in the Old Chapel. You should join him now, Lady Lizzie," said Bryan, pointing to the grassy plains surrounding the main building.
Judging by the area, I think the grass is the only place safe enough to hold a duel. So I nodded, leaped out of the opened window, and ordered Vania to enhance my physical endurance to make the proper landing without shattering my bones.
