Chapter 33

As Vorbuk dreamed that night there was a sudden peaceful feeling that swept over him like never before. It was like he had reached a serenity in his soul that he had never known before; not even in his past life had he felt so calm. In that moment he did not desire to wake from his slumber.

"Hey!" A sudden voice called out to him from the room.

The voice was familiar and he knew it was wanting him to wake up, but he had no desire to. His body was limp from the state of relaxation he was in. He could feel his pulse beating slow as his ears tuned in to everything around him.

"Vorbuk, we're suppose to be leaving!" The voice called out for him again.

He could easily determine it was the crown prince, Leo.

"I was enjoying the best sleep I've had in a long time and you ruined it." The wolf growled as he slowly opened his eyes to glare at the young prince.

His slumber had been disturbed, but contrary to his own words he did not harbor any ill feelings towards the prince. Sleeping that well had filled him to the brim with a new energy that he had not felt before. It was like the mana in his body had raised to a higher point then it had been at before from him simply gaining a proper rest. Then again as he thought about it the sleep he had just taken felt more like a night of hibernation. The experience of sleep that deep felt different from a normal night of rest.

Should I do a stat check on myself? He thought for a moment before discarding the idea. He was not that worried about it since it rather simply felt nice. Not feeling that worried about it he decided to just stand up and followed Leo out of the building. There was a heavy determination that showed on Leo that he had never seen the prince have before. It almost made him feel smaller in some ways because he was not use to the prince being so serious around him during the time they had been together.

"Are you alright?" Leo called out to the wolf as he glanced back at Vorbuk.

"I am fine." The wolf shook his head at the question.

The wolf saw a look of awkwardness on the prince appear. Prince Leo was not use to talking to the wolf in front of everyone so when he realized the others were looking at him curiously at his question he quickly looked away from everyone. They were all trying to figure out who the prince was asking the question to, but after a moment they realized it had been directed at the wolf. The only one who did not seem that surprised by the event was Daryl who was already well aware that Leo could communicate with Vorbuk.

"Do you always speak the words out loud? I would have thought it was some sort of telepathy or something between you two." Daryl spoke as he glanced between Vorbuk and Leo.

"I can hear his thoughts as though he is speaking, but for me I still have to speak normally. It is not like I can just invade his mind. I am not telepathic. It is different from telepathy." Leo sighed and looked over at Daryl. He could still feel the others looking at him as they all could hear the conversation and realized that Leo had the ability to communicate with the wolf.

Their minds were filled with wonder at the thought of how it worked. The dragon, Bredret, held a look of not caring that much about it because he held the ability of telepathy due to being a high ranked beast himself. He had been alive for thousands of years and his power was simply among divine power. If he fully let loose his capability on the world it could topple everything. Though he would never do such a thing due to his love for Celeste and his hidden worry that if he truly did he could still be destroyed.

There were multiple divine types among the realm. If one divine beast rose in power and threatened the realm than it wasn't a fact the realm would be destroyed. As one achieved the realm of divine power they naturally would have to be chosen by the realm itself to successfully ascend to the highest brink of divine and could be gifted with the power of being a true god. Bredret was naturally not a god among the realm. His power capped at divine, but would not ascend higher than that. If a divine beast threatened the realm or was caught helping the mortals they would naturally land on the wanted list of the gods.

This was why the dragons naturally refused to get involved in mortal wars. If they upset the balance enough it would naturally cause a chain reaction and they could find themselves on the run from a god itself to remove them from existence. Bredret was just simply more hard headed then his brethren and for Celeste he was willing to take the risk to help the crown prince. The fact that the gods could come chasing him down at any moment if they caught on to his work behind the scenes for the prince was something he just remained silent about so nobody was aware that he could be a hazard to himself for helping them.

Why would a divine dragon lower himself to fear of a god? He would simply scoff at the thought.

Daryl had known the rule for a long time about the divine beings being limited by the gods, but he simply ignored the fact. If the dragon did not want to mention it or worry about it then he would simply honor the dragons wish to remain silent about such a fact. He wasn't even sure if the dragon knew he himself knew about the rule or not because he had never told Daryl about it. It was just simply something he had learned due to being such a renowned adventurer.

"Well if you and the wolf are done talking to each other we're ready to head out. We've been waiting for you guys at the cart for an hour now." Daryl teased

"I know, but the wolf wouldn't wake up!' Leo protested the fact that he was the reason they were late taking off.

The wolf huffed and raised his head high causing him to look almost prideful. The others assumed from the look that the wolf was trying to look innocent as well for being late. The sound of Zoe and Celeste giggling could be heard all around and it was soon followed by Daryl's own laugh.

Daryl climbed up and took the reins to drive the cart as everyone else piled onto the cart to ready themselves to depart. Vorbuk even jumped onto the cart as well and lay himself down on below everyone's feet. Gazing around at everyone to see them all starting to chatter among themselves his eyes landed on Daryl. He could see the man stealing glances at him a couple of times when he realized the wolf was actually riding in back instead of running this time.
