Reigning over the Heavens

Joren's childhood was a cruel landscape, shaped by pain, suffering, and humiliation at every turn. Bullied relentlessly at school, he became an outcast, the target of both physical and emotional torment. At home, he was invisible, unloved, and neglected by a family that seemed to see him as nothing more than a burden. His parents, wrapped in their own indifference, ignored his cries for help, leaving him to fend for himself in a world that seemed determined to crush him. Every day, Joren endured a life that felt like an endless nightmare—a nightmare that was only made worse by the fleeting moments of hope he’d occasionally catch, only for them to be dashed by fate’s cruel hand. Just when Joren thought he might find a way out, a glimmer of salvation appeared—a chance to escape, a way to break free from the pain. But fate, ever indifferent, saw fit to deal him a final, devastating blow. He died—his life snuffed out before he could escape the nightmare. Or so he thought. Reincarnated in a new world, Joren’s torment did not end with his death. In an unimaginable twist, the Gods made a grave mistake: they allowed his memories to remain intact. All the suffering, all the heartache, and all the pain of his former life flooded back with him into this new existence. It was a gift and a curse—one that would shape the man he would become. But instead of crumbling beneath the weight of his past, Joren chose to rise. No longer would he be a victim. No longer would he cower in the shadows of those who sought to break him. The world that had once been his enemy would now feel the force of his wrath. With a heart hardened by years of torment, Joren set out to rewrite his story. The shame and helplessness of his previous life fueled his every step as he sought to amass fame, wealth, and power. Yet, his quest for power was not simply about inflicting pain on those who wronged him—it was a drive to prove to himself that he was no longer that broken child, that he could become something greater. But the world he found himself in was far from simple. It was a land filled with its own dangers, politics, and power struggles, and Joren quickly realized that the pursuit of power was more complicated than he ever imagined. As he begins to rise through the ranks of this new world, Joren must face not only the demons of his past but the temptations of his newfound abilities. Will he be consumed by his thirst for revenge and the allure of power, or will he find redemption and forge a new path for himself? Each step he takes forces him to confront not just his enemies, but the question of who he truly wants to become. In the end, will he be a ruler, a tyrant, or something entirely different? Joren’s journey is one of self-discovery, as he battles the forces of both his past and his present in his quest for dominance—and ultimately, to shape the world in his own image. Chapter 10 - An old friend

Fire was everywhere. To the ground, people walked on. To the buildings they slept in. To the food that they ate. Fire was everywhere. Even opening your mouth would allow fire to seep into your lungs, charing you from the inside.

Joren and Gramps had to be wary of every step they took. Slaves were running amuck. Knights and Guards rushed to put out the fires. People were everywhere and if they were caught, it was game over.

The two of them maneuvered their way around many slaves, guards, and knights alike. They avoided the burning places but stuck close enough to the area to keep an eye out for many people who could catch them. Some slaves happened to come in their path almost ruining their plans, but Gramps quickly subdued them by locking them in a choke hold until they passed out.

After about an hour of patience, they finally made their way to the entrance of the Barony. Stationed there were four Knights. They wore the typical medieval armor with visors on their helmets. They remained at their posts because they were in charge of surveillance. Their job was to not let anyone unauthorized in or out. So, their job was to stop Gramps and Joren.

"We're here," Gramps said pointing to the four Knights. "I'll distract them. Once I draw their attention, you'll book it out of here you hear me?"

"I understand. I'm ready" Joren took a deep breath and focused his mind. It's now or never.

"Good. It was a pleasure meeting you Joren. These five years have been the best years of my life. Don't forget about me or I'll come and find you and drag your ass back here, understand kid?"

Joren didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so he just hugged him instead.

"Thanks, Gramps. Without you, I never would have gotten this chance. I'll do everything I can to honor your teachings and make you proud."

"That's my boy. Now let's get going." They broke the hug and Gramps made his way to the Knights while Joren hid behind some bushes waiting for the right time to leave.

"Hey, fucker!" Gramps yelled out "How's your wife doing? She's not having any pain or waking up sore is she?" Gramps asked as he approached a Knight

"The fuck you say to me, slave?" The knight asked

"I asked if your wife is okay?"

"Why wouldn't she be?!" The knight asked angrily

"Because last night, I fucked her so hard, God had to stop me from sending her to heaven. She woke up telling me how I gave her the best dicking of her life. I put her on her knees and watched as she gobbled down my cock like it was her last meal, haha, what a slut, getting off to my slave dick."

Gramps remarks made the Knight seeth in anger while the other three were laughing so hard, they started clutching their bellies.

"Y-You fucker! SHE SAID SHE STOPPED CHEATING ON ME!!" He pulled out his sword and charged at Gramps with bloodshot eyes.

When he swung his sword with intent to kill, Gramps simply dodged to the side avoiding the slash with minimum effort. The knight kept attacking him, trying to find any opening to kill the bastard that fucked his wife. He slashed and trusted his sword at Gramps trying everything he could to end his life, but none of his attacks connected.

"STOP DODGING YOU OLD FART!!" The knight yelled out.

Dodge after dodge, the Knight kept missing his target, so he decided to stop messing around. A white mist wrapped around the Knight's body and weapon then solidified on the sword making the sword look like it was wrapped in white armor. He was using Aura.

"Haha, now you're dead old man. You should have gotten on your knees and apologized when you had the chance." The knight said as his body pulsed with power

"Heh, now that I'm thinking about it, you kissed your wife's lips. Her lips were on my dick. Ha, you kissed dick lips bitch." Grmaps mocked

"That does it you old fucker, you're dead!"

The Knight charged at Gramps with his full speed. Even though Joren had cultivated his mana and all his senses were enhanced greatly, he still couldn't see the knight move.

*CLANG* The sword made a sound as if it clashed with another sword. When the Knight looked to see when it clashed with, to his horror, he saw a hand. The hand wasn't chopped off nor was it cut. The hand simply grabbed the sword as if it were a piece of paper.

"What was that about killing me?" Gramps asked before he snapped the sword in two.

The guards looked shocked. How did an old man who was a slave, break a sword like it's nothing, especially when it was cladded in aura? Was the sword faulty? Of course not! No Knight would walk around with a faulty sword. Was the knight's aura just weak? That couldn't be the case. Then how did he do it?

The other Knights all drew their swords and approached Gramps. Small beads of sweat trickled down their faces. They then noticed that his collar was off.

"Now before we get started, I just want you to know one thing. Zola, Karen, Lolli." The other three knights were shocked when they heard the names of their wives being called. "Their pussies were great," Gramps smirked

*BOOM* The knight's aura flared up. Anger filled their expression. Gramps simply laughed and charged at them.

Joren knew that this was the time to make a run for it. Grabbing onto his bag, he ran as fast as he could to the exit without looking back. He could hear Gramps fighting and the knights wailing in pain. He heard bones breaking and the sound of their voices being choked by their blood. But he didn't look back. He only had his eyes set on one thing, and that's freedom.

He ran and kept running without stopping. Following the path like Gramps said, he just kept running. Whenever he saw an animal, he paid it no mind and kept running. When he tripped on a rock, he got back up and kept running. He ran so much that he didn't even notice when he passed out.

After he woke up, He looked at the sky and saw it was still night. This meant he was only passed out for a few minutes at most. Still, he checked his bag to make sure everything was still there, and to his relief, it was. He grabbed a water skin from his bag and quenched his thirst. After he finished, he continued to run along the road.

Back at the Barony, four knights were lying across the ground in a pool of blood, dead. Standing over them was Gramps who had no injuries on his body. Not only did he not have any injuries, but blood never once touched his body.

"Did you have fun?" A feminine voice said appearing from the shadows. She had short purple hair and purple eyes, a white and black dress that showed off her curves nicely, and a veil that covered her face.

"Fuck yea! Most fun I had in years! Were you watching me this entire time? I thought you had more important things to do?" Gramps asked

"I did, then I learned my irresponsible father went to the mortal realm again to have fun, dodging his responsibilities. I had to take care of that you know! The council said that you'll await punishment when you come back home." The woman stated

"Yea yea, whatever. Stupid council bastards. All they care about is work, never wanting to have fun." Gramps sighed. "Fine let's go, don't want to keep them waiting any longer." He flicked his hand and the dead bodies vanished without a trace alongside the spilled blood.

"What were you doing with the boy?" The woman asked

"Ahh, Joren? Just helping him get off his feet. I can tell he's going to become someone great in the future, I can see it in his soul. So, I made sure I sped up that process by teaching him a thing or two. Don't worry, I didn't tell him any secrets or anything so relax. But, keep an eye on him and watch his growth, he will be an asset to us in the future and I don't want him to die before then."

"Understood." The woman nodded

Gramps looked in the direction where Joren had made his grand escape and smiled. Then, his body exploded in golden light before dimming after a few seconds. When the light faded, a tall handsome man stood in place of Gramps. He had long white hair, yellow-golden eyes, and an aura that radiated divinity. He and the woman both sprouted a pair of white feathered wings from their backs before flying into the sky and vanishing in a beam of light.

...

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Joren was panting heavily running as fast as he could along the road. He hadn't run into anyone for the past five days and thought his journey to the town over was going well. He had gotten tired and wanted to rest for the night before continuing his journey in the morning, but as he went to find a good place to sleep, he ran into a pack of six wolves.

Luckily for him, mana allowed his body to be faster and more durable, unfortunately, this didn't mean he couldn't be hurt. Since his mana level was so low, normal animals could still hurt him. His back was covered in bloody claw marks. His left ankle was sprained from twisting it the wrong way. His right arm had bite marks that spewed blood every time he ran.

'It hurts' Joren wanted to cry. He kept running despite the pain he was in. He had to. It was either keep running or die and he didn't want to die. He endured. 'This is just a test' he told himself. 'The pain I'll be feeling in the future will be worse than this. Endure!'

He reached into his bag and pulled a dagger. As the wolves were quickly catching up to him, he decided to face them.

Turning around quickly, he dashed toward the wolf at the front, and before the wolf could move out of the way, he grabbed the wolf's snout and stabbed it in the head, killing it instantly.

The other five wolves circled around Joren, giving him no means of escape. But this was okay. He wanted to end this right here. Two wolves lunged at him. Joren managed to roll out of the way of the first wolf, but the second one was able to bite his leg.

"ARGH!!!!!" He bellowed in pain

Biting his lips, Joren stabbed the wolf's head. He looked around and saw three more coming his way.

He managed to get the dead wolf off of his leg and stand back up, grabbing a rock in the process. As a wolf charged at him, he managed to dodge it and threw the rock at its face, stunning it. The second wolf lunged at him, but Joren shoulder charged at the wolf knocking it back while taking a few scratches. The third wolf stopped briefly and Joren ran towards it.

The wolf snarled, opened its mouth, and continued charging at Joren. The wolf bit Joren's hand that contained the dagger, but in the process, it bit down on the weapon, killing itself.

Joren's hand was now stuck in the wolf's mouth and wasn't moving. Not only was the knife stuck in the wolf's mouth, its teeth were lodged in his arm. The other three wolves took advantage of his situation and prepared to avenge their fallen comrades.

'Is this it?' Joren thought to himself. 'NO! I won't die here! I can't die here! I WON'T ALLOW IT!'

"ARGGGG!!!" Joren started pulling his arm out of the wolf's mouth. The pain pain was unbearable but he endured. Unfortunately, he wasn't quick enough, and a wolf lept at Joren with its jaw ready to take off his head.

'FUCKK!' he closed his eyes and prepared for the worst.

*WHISTLE* *THUD*

Joren heard a whistling noise and felt something collapse in front of him. When he opened his eyes he saw an arrow lodged in the wolf's eye. It was dead.

"Quickly! Help him!" A man shouted

Joren looked over to see people jumping out of a caravan brandishing their weapons. There were three men and two women. One of the men looked familiar as well.

They killed the remaining two wolves and rushed over to Joren. As they got closer, Joren saw the face of one of the men. He had brown hair and black eyes. He was a tall man with a muscular build and a tan. His name was Glenn, and he was a mercenary who lived in the same village as him. He was also friends with his father. Seeing him here, Joren burst into tears and looked at the man. Glenn hadn't recognized Joren since the last they saw each other, he was five, and even now, he didn't look like a normal ten-year-old.

A woman ran up to Joren and started healing him with magic. A soothing feeling covered his entire body. When he had enough strength, he looked up at Glenn and spoke.

"U-Uncle Glenn, it's me, Joren. I'm back." before he could see Glenn's reaction, he passed out.
