Chapter 12

Kang POV

The sound of my door woke me up as it slammed into the wall behind it. "What the hell Adam," I say under my breath with my eyes barely open, turning over on my side. When I didn't hear anything I flipped back over to make sure it wasn't Dal again trying to watch me sleep because he says 'I can't be trusted' whatever that means.

"Kid," I hear a familiar voice but it doesn't register with me as I sit up and rub my eyes. "How did you know that the two cases were connected?"

"Detective!" My eyes popped open and I took a second to look around before finding him standing on the left side of me holding a folder. "Detective, what are you doing here," I try to get up but he places his hand on my shoulder sitting me back down.

"Answer the question kid," I could tell he was serious but I only knew about the connection because he figured it out a couple years in the future.

"Luck," I awkwardly smile

"Luck?" he minimicks, "There is no-," he takes a deep breath. "Just answer the question." I try to gather myself and thoughts to a logical explanation. Maybe I could say I was a psychic- I look him in the eyes and I kept getting pulled into them- his dark meaningless eyes.

"This is useless," he lets out a deep sigh smacking his hand on his shoulder lightly before he walked to the door. "If I let him leave, he probably wont  talk to me again," I think to myself as my head follows the Detective around the room.

"I-" I stutter but it manages to catch his attention, stopping at the door with his hand on the door-knob. "I like to follow criminal cases," I say and he turns around

"You like to follow criminal cases?" I nod as he speaks. "Right?" he rolls his eyes and turns back towards the door and I open my mouth to speak trying to get him to stay but he speaks first. "Don't get involved in this kid just focus on school," he leaves the room and his words go straight over my head.

"I should get involved with the case," I repeat under my breath.

Two weeks passed by quickly when you just sleep them away but leaving the building with a bouquet of flowers and fruit basket from Jae was a little too much. Everything was gripping on for dear life just dangling from my arms as I wobble outside with Adam following behind me. I have no right to complain, Adam did offer to help me carry my things but in my family carrying your gifts was a way to show respect.

"Where are you going," Adam says as he stopped walking and I never noticed since I couldn't turn around and look. He was standing by a black car holding the door open as I faced him peeking over the items weighing down my arms and it was obvious that I was meant to take a seat in the back but as I take a step towards the car someone grabs my arm and everything in my arms goes crashing to the ground smashing to bits.

"Do you know this guy," my eyes immediately snap towards the hand placed on my arm. I didn't know if catching the rolling fruits or removing the hand was more important, pacing back and forth between the two.

"You hit your head and now you want to get into random peoples' cars," I hear nagging and the first person that comes to mind was Jangsoo. Of course I had to be right. I look up at him as his hand slips off my shoulders and his eyes meet mine for a brief second before scrunching up as he met eye to eye with Adam. Adam was so unbothered still holding the door open as I look around trying to make my next move.

"Why are you here," I ask stepping away from Jangsoo, closer to Adam. It seemed to have bothered him as he took a step forward as well meeting my pace.

"Don't turn this on me"

"Too late," I reply and his eyes spin. He already had his arms crossed clenching his keys in his hand as he continued to stare down Adam. The tension in the air was thick like fog ready to choke the life out of me.

"Who is this," Jangsoo says, completely ignoring my question. He had the eyes of a devil as if he was ready to kill me with his eyes that pierced my skin. I just stood there as the sun beamed down on us, nothing came out of my mouth almost in disbelief that he was asking me questions.

"Kang?" his hand waves back and forth blowing air in my eyes but I couldn't blink. The same nothing flowed out of my mouth. "This the first," he scoffs, crossing his arms.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You always have something to say and now you're quiet," he grabs me by my arm, lightly pulling me towards him as I step on a couple of apples and bananas on the ground, squashing them even more.

"Like i have to say something to you," i snatch my arm back and feel his nails scratch the surface of my skin as our eyes never break contact.

It felt like hours that I stood there locking eyes with someone that made my skin crawl only breaking away as I heard the sound of Adam clearing his throat. I turn towards Adam once again, snatching my arm away to face Adam then back to Jangsoo.

"Does it matter if I know him or not he's just taking me home. I don't see why this concerns you," I say and he starts to walk past me. My eyes follow him towards the car and he just sits himself inside and Adam doesn't even stop him while he slides over to the leather seats to the left side staring at the empty seat beside him.

He can't be serious

I jump in the car next and the door closes as Adam makes his way to the drivers' seat. Jangsoo was looking out the window on his side and I did the same to avoid looking at him as the car starts.

"Mr. Seungha wants to meet with you tomorrow at 5 will that be a good time."

Why does he want to meet me? Is it because I left the hospital? He's probably going to yell at me?

"Kang?"

"Oh yeah, that time would be fine," I say and Jangsoo finally looks in my direction as we pull up to the school campus and the car comes to a stop. I had nothing else to say and Adam didn't look as if he had another message to deliver so I opened the car door and stepped out and so did Jangsoo. As soon as the car takes off Jangsoo walks in the opposite direction with silence following his back. I watched him go down the sidewalk for a while before actually making my exit to my dorm room.

"Surprise," as soon as the door swings open bright lights attack me right before I see Dal, Tae, Jae, and Yori with smiles across their faces and a sign that reads 'Welcome back'

"Kang," Yori comes running with open arms embracing me as Tae follows close behind, adding more force into the squeeze.

"We missed you, Kang," Tae says as the tears glisten in his eyes.

"Thank you guys," I look around and see Dal in the distance balling his eyes out with snot falling out his nose and all I could do was hold back my laughter. This was the best thing to ever happen to me and we even had a sleepover to end the night. It should have brought me to tears but I refuse to be a wimp in front of them.

The next day I wake up early for class and almost get lost on my way to the English building. All I could think about was the cake and candy I had last night along with plenty of laughter and cheers. The best part was when I saw Dal trying to dance to a pop song and he looked more like a sloppy robot.

"Kang?" I hear my name in the hall and pause to make sure I wasn't hearing things. "Hey, Kang," it was a girl's voice but the only girl I could think of was Yori but that was far from her voice.
