Chapter 7

Things should fall right into place.

I was currently hiding inside the shadows of a few nearby trees that thankfully gave me a good view of the supposed to be future battlefield.

A few days had passed and I had made sure to hide my presence, something that the original Rimuru hadn't done.

I did it for two reasons, the first being that it'll just make things easier for myself, and second is that I wanted to see the difference of what would happen now that the alpha doesn't know my existence.

Needless to say it was a very dramatic change of pace.

"Awooooooooooo!"

The alpha gave the signal, signaling that the carnage was supposed to start.

And start it was.

Without knowing the presence of a powerful, the fences that the goblins had built around the village was ineffective in stopping the wolves.

They were intimidated by it of course but I assume they already saw the exact same things on villages near the empire's borders.

And at the front of the village's entrance, I placed one goblin, the future gobta.

I'm sorry, I needed someone to act as bait. Steel yourself

I offered a silent prayer to Gobta and turned my attention back to the alpha who snarled its teeth at the lone goblin.

It's probably thinking how they're stupid to just let one goblin defend the place.

Ha, of course there wasn't just gobta.

The entire battlefield was already under my control. Iron Silk were already laid out all over the ground, ready to trap anyone or anything that'll be foolish enough to ignore it.

Of course I'm the only one who can see it thanks to magic perception but let's ignore that.

The alpha gave the order. As if they were his own right hand, about a dozen direwolves immediately set off to attack the fence—the picture of coordination, the exact reason the pack essentially functioned as a single monster.

Only, it was already over the moment they entered the field.

"Checkmate."

I flicked my wrists and dozens of hexagon shaped ores flew at a speed that caused the lying silk to move and trap the dozen of direwolves that sprang to action.

The alpha, unsure of what had just happened, could only stare at the suspended bodies of his kin as they struggled to free themselves from the trap.

"Don't bother, if you move too much you'll cut yourself." I gave them a warning as I left my hiding spot and walked up behind them.

The remaining wolves and the alpha all turned around to face their new foe only to freeze, their fur shooting straight up in an attempt to intimidate me.

Or they're scared, I can't tell.

Normally the alpha would have jumped straight in, enraged that a lesser monster was taunting it, but I was a tiefling.

Instead, I decided to trap the wolves between a set of unseen traps and myself, that way they had no choice but to fight me.

It's a bit risky, I'm not really used to fighting yet. Hakuro, please hurry up.

I heaved a sigh of regret and sneered at the wolves, hoping it'll scare them enough to let ther "fight or flight" instincts kick in.

Thankfully it did and the alpha was the first to howl before charging straight at me.

Now, I need to experiment... I shouldn't die even if I get hit directly right?

<>Confirmed. Probability of death is 20%

Yikes, that's a 1 out 5 chance.

Oh well, I was always a one to gamble at gacha games with less than 0.01% chance to get what I want.

Bracing myself, I struck my fist against the Alpha's stomach, imitating a force palm that a pokemon would perform.

It's super effective against the alpha!

Or so I thought, turns out I did nothing but push it further into the air.

... is fall damage on?

I deadpanned at my strength and shrugged as I assumed they were part cat, I mean Ranga always seemed to land on his feet so his father should do the same.

Yeah, probably.

With that confirmation out of the way, I focused myself on dodging the charging wolves like a professional matador.

"This... is fun, kind of."

I was jumping all over the place, not wanting to accidentally kill any of the wolves while also mentally making sure I wouldn't kill the wolves that were already trapped.

Only the alpha needed to die, any other death than that will be a waste to a future fighting force I'd get.

And if I'm gonna fight guy then I need everything I can get

But it was pretty hard to just keep dodging while waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill the alpha since there were like.. 80 more wolves than me.

Eventually, the alpha seems to have rejoined the fight with nothing but a bleeding ankle that made it limp a bit.

I guess you're worse than your kid.

Though it was probably because Ranga was already a named monster by that time but I didn't care, weakness was weakness.

Wanting to quickly end things, I ignored all of the other wolves and shoved them aside, rushing towards the Alpha like an enraged bull.

The alpha, not wanting to lose face, charged at similar speed was clearly much slower thanks to his injury.

As we clashed, I immediately placed both of my hands against the Alpha's jaws, forcing it open and to keep it from clamping on my head.

Ugh, bad breath.

I resisted the urge to throw up and stopped holding back, which immediately resulted to the alpha's upper jaw to come flying off in a grotesque fountain of blood as it's body lifelessly fell on the ground.

"...Uh."

Goblins, wolves, and even I stared in disbelief (or fear in their case) at the alpha's corpse.

"Surrender now or face the same fate." I turned my attention towards the remaining wolves who were already kneeling in front of me.

Guys.... I swear I'm a good person, please don't make me a tyrant.
