My Imaginary Friend

Anastasia was getting ready to go in Ronan's funeral. She didn't actually want to go there but because of Isabelle forcing her to go. She agreed to attend it. After all, Isabelle is the one who makes rules there.

Anastasia tried to convince Isabelle many times. That she could stay there alone with Emily and take care of the house. so she could go to the funeral without worry.

But Isabelle didn't agreed to that. She was worried about their safety that's why she decided to take them with her.

If they stayed here alone then it will only make her more worried. She can't keep focus on her work if her mind is not well.

What if something terrible happened to them when she is not here? She could never let that happen. That's why it will be better if they go with her. Then at least she could protect them from any kind of danger.

But Anastasia was very disappointed with Isabelle's decision. because she thought that Isabelle don't find her capable enough to let her take care of the house alone.

She is 22 years old now. but everyone around her always treats her like she is some kind of immature kid.

She hates it when this kind of thing happens.

Why can't people let her make her own decision? She is not a child anymore. But what can she do now except listen to Isabelle? Not like she could argue with her.

Anastasia was very grumpy from the morning because of not getting any sleep last night.

She saw a weird-looking creature roaming around the house but she couldn't even tell anyone about it. Because if Isabelle learned that she took the bracelet off. then she going to beat her to a pulp until her eyes turn red.

Anastasia knew that this thing will not happen.  It was just her mind making weird scenarios.

This thing always happens when she gets anxious.

She starts to make up silly stuff in her mind but nothing turns out to be true.

It was not the only thing that was keeping her awake at night. She kept hearing voices in her head trying to tell her something.

Many people will connect this thing with some kind of mental illness but it was not true. She was not a schizophrenic patient. The symptoms here were different.

Because the voices in her head were telling about her childhood memories that she couldn't remember anymore.

Even Anastasia doesn't want to believe in those kinds of stuff. She also don't want to associate herself with ghosts.

She was dying to live a normal life like everyone else. That's why she decided to make a plan and hoped that it is not gonna be a flop like last time.

So the thing is simple, She is going to meet Agnes after the funeral and convince her to make a new bracelet for her.

So many people might be thinking that why can't she wear the bracelet again by herself?. And the answer to that is, she just can't.

Because when Anastasia took off the bracelet from her hand. That time all the power inside it got loose making the bracelet turn into a hollow.

That's why she needs someone with pure mana to tie the knot again. So she could free herself from being involved in the supernatural realm.

Anastasia went towards her suitcase to take her clothes out. Because yesterday she forgot to place her clothes in the wardrobe cause she was too busy thinking about the way to enter the forbidden forest.

She checked all of her outfits and decided to wear a long-sleeved black dress that would be suitable to wear at a funeral.

Anastasia felt satisfied thinking that at least today Isabelle will not scold her. Because the long sleeves of her dress will make people unable to see her hands. That means Isabelle would never find out that she took her bracelet off.

Anastasia tied her black wavy hair into a low ponytail. because it was very hot outside.

She doesn't want to go in someone's funeral looking all sweaty. She wanted to make a good first impression on the villagers.

After doing little makeup she checked herself in the mirror and saw that she was looking really good.

Anastasia always knew that she looks attractive because of all the pretty privileges she used to get from people. She didn't really liked all the attention she was getting. but she also never hated it.

Because of that special treatment, At some point in her life, she used to be very prideful about her looks. but that behavior only made people to distance themselves more from her. that's why she don't act like that anymore.

For minutes she was just admiring her beautiful face in the mirror. but soon got distracted when she heard Isabelle screaming her name from downstairs.

She understood that it was time to go. She quickly grabbed her phone and purse in her hand and she was ready to leave. But she heard a soft familiar voice saying something to her.

[You should not go there, that place is not safe for you.]

She felt that she heard this voice before. And her guess turned out to be true. The voice she heard just now was of Mimi.

She instantly turned her head behind to check where the voice was coming from. But there was no one in this room except her.

She wanted to talk with Mimi but she was nowhere to be seen.

Mimi was Anastasia's childhood imaginary friend. But for her, she was like a real person.

But now, after hearing her voice after so long time. She finally understand that she was always right about this thing. Mimi is infact a real person.

If she doesn't exist then why is she hearing her voice now?.

She was hearing her voice after 17 years. Because that bracelet not only stopped her ability to talk with ghosts but it also stopped her and Mimi to communicate with each other.

The first time when Anastasia met her and talked to her was when she was just 4 years old toddler.

She was playing in Isabelle's house's backyard.

That time she saw a fair-skinned lady coming towards her.

The lady smiled at her and then they both played in the garden for hours.

Anastasia don't remember the face of the lady very well because she was a child back then. but the woman she met that time was a beauty for sure.

The only thing she remembers about her is that she had blonde hair.

Except that she don't remember anything about her physical features because Mimi had a hat on her head that was making her impossible to see her face.

After that interaction. She started to meet with that lady more often. The lady told her to call her Mimi. Anastasia thought that it might be her nickname because it sounded like a short form of some name.

So whenever Anastasia needed something she used to always call Mimi for help and she would appear around her in a second like she was waiting for Anastasia to call her.

Mimi helped her various times. When other kids used to get new toys Anastasia used to get very jealous of them. because she never got any gifts from her parents cause they were mostly busy doing their work. But at that time Mimi used to bring her toys so she could play with them.

People around her used to get very confused thinking how did she obtained so many things when no one have bought them for her.

They thought Anastasia stoled other kid's stuff. that's why she used to get punishment for it.

She was tired of telling everyone that she didn't stoled it but nobody believed it.

Why would they believe a toddler who keeps saying that she see's supernatural creatures?

It was a total bs for them. But the thing hurted Anastasia the most was that Isabelle never supported her at that time.

Isabelle knew everything about her abilities but she never told anyone about it. like she was scared about something.

But anyway, Anastasia decided to move on from her past memories. It will only give her pain nothing else.

She was already forgotten about it but because of yesterday's incident, her old memory was slowly coming back.

"Mimi, I know you are here. Please talk to me. I need you."

Anastasia wanted to see her very badly. Because when she needed someone the most. Mimi was the only person who was there for her and truly cared for her.

Others just wanted her to be a perfect little golden child.

Except that they didn't gave a damn about her feelings.

Isabelle felt something was wrong. It's been 10 minutes but Anastasia still didn't came downstairs.

Even Emily was ready but she was still not here. It was the first time it happened.

Thinking about it, Isabelle's heart started to beat faster because she was feeling worried about Anastasia.

She couldn't hold it any longer. She felt that something bad has happened to her that's why she screamed her name again.

"Anastasia come down fast. Otherwise, I will come upstairs."

Isabelle's voice made Anastasia stunned. She checked herself in the mirror and saw that her eye makeup was ruined.

Because of those memory flashing before her eyes. She unknowingly started to cry and didn't even noticed that.

Anastasia quickly wiped her face and decided to not redo the eye makeup because it was already late.

She shrugged her feelings off like she always does and made a smiling face so others could not know that she cried.

After doing a little bit of touch up she went downstairs to meet with Isabelle's serious expression.

"What were you doing upstairs for so long?" Isabelle looked at Anastasia and saw that her eyes looked red like she cried. ."And why are your eyes looking puffy? What happened? She stretched her hand to check her face but Anastasia shrugged her hands off from her face.

"Grandma don't touch my face otherwise my makeup would get ruined. I was just putting on my makeup but it accidentally went inside my eye. That's why it is looking puffy nothing else."

Isabelle got disappointed. She doesn't understand why these young kids wear so much makeup nowadays. "Don't wear it too much from now on. You already look so pretty without it."

Anastasia looked down and gave a small smile. She always gets embarrassed when other people compliment her.

Emily looked at her and thought that Anastasia was looking like a model in that dress.

She knew Anastasia dislikes it when someone compliments her, that's why she decided to tease her a bit.

"Come on Anastasia, we are going to someone's funeral not a party. Why are you trying to steal a dead person's spotlight by looking like a goddess? Have some decency."

Anastasia understood that Emily was teasing her that's why she decided to go along with it.

"I know I should not do that. But It is not my fault that I look good in whatever I wear. So how about you excuse this goddess before she turns into a demon?"

Anastasia started to do her catwalk to look extra while going outside. That thing made Emily laugh. "Listen, Anna, look where you are going to step. otherwise you will fall into the mud. Then do your fashion show in that with pigs."

Anastasia looked ahead and saw a hole filled with mud in front of her. She went by its side and showed Emily her middle finger saying that she didn't fell inside it. and then she started heading towards Ronan's mansion. Even though she doesn't know where his house was located.
