Kurosawa Kei

[POV. Third-person]

A weak yet beautiful-looking woman with black hair is holding a baby while sitting on a chair right next to a pram inside a hospital. "Ms. Yeon Hae-won, I presume?" a man holding a clipboard approaches her. "Ah, yes, that's me," the woman replies with a smile.

"Great, okay, so I need you to sign these papers before I let you go," the man says as he hands her the clipboard along with a pen. "I see... thanks," the woman says as she signs the papers.

As the woman signs the papers, a commotion can be heard outside. "What's going on?" the woman asks, holding her baby tightly. Suddenly, a police officer enters the building and asks everyone to stay calm and find cover.

"What's going on, officer?" the man holding the clipboard asks. "There is a villain rampaging outside, we are holding them off for now," the police officer says, making them uneasy.

Seeing the worry in their eyes, the officer walks up to them. "You don't have to worry; a hero is on their way," the officer says with a confident smile. The woman feels more at ease as she kisses her baby's forehead.

Seeing the woman holding a baby, the officer tries to engage in idle chatter to make them feel calmer. "What's her name?" the officer asks with a smile. "How'd you know she's a girl?" the woman asks in surprise.

"Ah, my bad, it's my quirk 'Deduce.' As its name implies, it lets me inspect anything and analyze the details to its extreme-" the officer stops himself as he realizes he's rambling.

"Sorry about that, I tend to get carried away when talking about quirks," the officer says as he rubs the back of his head. "My name is Kei! Kurosawa Kei. My dream is to be a detective one day," the young officer introduces himself, noticing that everyone is calming down.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a loud explosion is heard outside. "What was that?" the woman asks, her grip on her baby tightening. "Stay here, I'll go check it out," the officer says to them as he leaves their cover.

...

Outside, a villain with gloomy eyes and a sinister smile is controlling what seem to be numerous boulders made from asphalt, floating around them. "Really? Cops? Haha... do you think this is a joke?!" the villain laughs as he traps a few civilians under some of his asphalt boulders.

"Bring me a hero... here! NOW!" The villain demands as he tightens some of the boulders holding civilians, causing them to scream in pain. "Once the hero is here, I'll crush their skulls right in front of them!" the villain says with a laugh, his face filled with twisted pleasure.

"Stop right there, villain!" Suddenly, a hero wearing a white cape and black mask arrives with a pose. "A hero!" "Finally!" "Beat him up!" the crowd cheers for the hero as he continues to pose.

"Who the hell is this idiot?! He's no hero!!" The villain yells at the hero as he hurls asphalt boulders towards them. Some of the boulders graze the hero, but he mostly dodges them as he sprints towards the villain, his legs turning into springs that boost his speed.

"Release your hostages!" The hero yells as he jumps with his fist aimed at the villain. "Ultimate move! Springfi-" Before he can finish his sentence, a boulder with a civilian inside is moved right in front of him.

The hero immediately backs off. "HAHAHA!! PATHETIC!" the villain laughs in his face as he shapes some asphalt into spears. "Since you managed to actually get near me, I'll have to take this more seriously," the villain says as he licks his lips.

Spears of asphalt fly towards the hero. "IF YOU DODGE, THEY WILL DIE!!! KEHAHAHA!!" The villain says, pointing towards the crowd of bystanders.

The villain laughs maniacally as he looks at the hero's face, filled with dread. "Spring-Shot!" The hero yells as he jumps fast and stands in front of the spears, taking them all head-on.

SHUNK!

Blood splatters as the hero takes all four spears into his body. "AHHHH!" "HERO!" the crowd exclaims in fear as they see the hero get stabbed by the spears. "Pathetic... Truly pathetic..." The villain walks towards the hero and spits in front of him.

"Don't call him pathetic!"

Suddenly, a voice is heard from a nearby hospital. "Huh?! Who the hell are you?" The villain looks at the officer who suddenly speaks up. "Kurosawa! Back off!!" Another police officer hiding behind a cop car yells at him to back off.

"You do not have the right to call him pathetic when you are hiding behind civilians!!" Instead of backing off, Kei speaks up even more. "HUH!? Are you f*cking stupid?!" The villain tilts his head as he looks at Kei.

The villain then points at the hero lying on the floor. "Look at him! He failed to do his job!! He couldn't defeat me! He's a failure!" The villain says as veins grow on his forehead from anger.

Kei looks down and grits his teeth. "No! he didn't fail! He protected the people! And that's what heroes do!" Kei screams with tears in his eyes. "Damn it... Kurosawa," the officer says as he turns his radio on, asking when more hero backup will arrive.

"You are starting to piss me off..." the villain says with a terrifying expression. Kei gulps as his hands feel cold.

Suddenly, his stomach feels pressure as he is propelled towards the hospital and breaks past the glass door. "KUH!" Kei almost vomits from the sudden attack. But it's weird because he should have passed out or at least vomited blood.

In fact, he doesn't feel any pain at all. "W-what happened?" he looks at the pillar of asphalt in front of him. But when he looks down, all he sees is a mass of black particles covering his torso.

Suddenly, heavy breaths can be heard nearby as the dust clears. Standing near him, the woman holding a baby is holding her arm upwards, pointing towards Kei. Her hands have the same black particles, but the side of her mouth is dripping with blood.

The woman then drops to her knees while still holding her baby tightly. "Hey! Are you okay?!" Kei stands up and runs towards the woman. "Take care of Jihye... for me..." the woman says as she hands Kei the baby.

"Wait, hang on! You're going to make it! Alright?!" Kei says as he pulls her towards cover. "Don't you dare give up!" Kei says as he calls for the doctor, who shakily goes towards the woman to check her up.

After the dust settles, they've already found cover, so the villain thinks Kei is dead already. "What was all that talk about if you can't even survive that" the villain snorted as he started moving away from the hospital.

....

"I don't know what you did but you didn't have to save me.. i made that stupid decision on my own" Kei said as he looked towards the baby's face, but he realized something odd, the baby has never cried aloud, not even once. But as he looked at the baby's face he noticed tears.
