A New Discovery

Verlin was quite certain Rachel didn't know what she was getting herself into. It's not that he underestimated her, but she underestimated him.

Rachel charged at Verlin at a speed he thought would be impossible for a human. But then again, even if she was 10 times faster, it won't make much of a difference. Verlin simply snapped his fingers and sent a Shockwave rolling towards Rachel, sending her flying back towards the rope.

Verlin had a smile on his face and said,

"Seen enough?"

Rachel gritted her teeth and continued charging towards Verlin and sending a roundhouse kick towards his head, Verlin ducked under the kick, and what awaited him was a knee moving towards his face. He was slightly surprised at her movement speed but still grabbed her knee and shoved her lightly to the other side of the ring.

Verlin could tell that Rachel was very prideful, so he didn't want her to be too hurt from this loss she was about to receive. Verlin was thinking about this while Rachel sent a flurry of punches and kicks at him. He dodged all of them mainly because he didn't want Rachel to break her hand or leg on his face.

Verlin sighed and said, " How about I reduce my power and speed, and we fight with pure skill."

He didn't want to embarrass her, so he decided to change the objective of their spar. Rachel stopped swinging and took a deep breath and said, " Sure,"

Verlin slowed down his perception and changed the force field around him, so his body acted like a regular human instead of an unmovable object.

Verlin nodded his head, and Rachel launched at him with the same roundhouse kick as last time. This time, Verlin didn't duck under the kick. He wanted to see how much force she could produce, so he put his hand up to defend his head.

To Verlin's suprise, the kick sent him flying outside the ring. Although he wasn't hurt, he was shocked by the power in her kick. He stood up and flew back into the ring. He squinted his eyes,looked at Rachel, and said, " That was a very impressive kick for a human."

Rachel had a smile on her face and said," Maybe you shouldn't have underestimated me."

" You're right, Maybe I shouldn't have."

Rachel continued attacking Verlin, and she kept getting him with her punches and kicks, but after a couple of seconds, Verlin started catching her attack pattern. Soon after, Rachel couldn't land a single hit on him, and Verlin could see the frustration on her face. After 20 minutes of wasted effort and frustration, Rachel was sweating and panting. She looked at Verlin, who was standing in front of her perfectly fine without any sign of fatigue.

Before she could say anything, Verlin said, "Don't feel too bad. The fight wasn't fair to begin with. But your skills are quite impressive, I learned a lot from it." At this point, Verlin was trying to sugar-coat her losing the battle.

Rachel looked at Verlin and rolled her tired eyes and said, "You don't have to sugar coat it, I'm not a child. A loss is a loss. If anything, you are the impressive one. Your fighting IQ is amazing. After only a couple of seconds, I couldn't even touch you."

Now, Rachel could understand what those losers at the armies' kickboxing class felt when they fought her. Being completely helpless against an opponent. Verlin didn't even throw a single punch even if he had so many openings. Rachel continued, " I'm gonna go take a shower, get some food, and then go to sleep, Goodnight."

Verlin looked at Rachel as she walked out of the room and used his microscopic vision on her. And he could see her body density was at least 5 times that of other humans like Felix. This included her bones, muscle, and skin. He couldn't believe he hadn't noticed this the whole time. He thought back to what Felix said about there being no difference between Rachel watching him and 100 men watching him. Maybe there was a double meaning to that sentence.

After Rachel left the room, Verlin also went to his room to take a shower, not because he was sweaty, but because he wanted to.After a couple of minutes in the shower, Verlin got out and looked at his reflection in the mirror, he couldn't help smiling at his otherworldly beauty, his eyes were drawn to his silver hair. He didn't know why his hair was silver in color, but he liked it.

The only problem was how he was gonna cut his hair if it ever grew out. Verlin shook his head, got dressed in some brand new clothes, and walked out of the bathroom. He was thinking he would do some research on the polar bear blood tonight, but seeing that the people working on his lab didn't have plans to leave for the night, He decided to keep it on hold for now. There would be plenty of time in the future to work on it.

He went down to the living room and turned on the TV, and the news channel was still on. To his suprise, he saw the woman that was cornered earlier this afternoon alongside 3 of the men that cornered her talking to a newsman trying to explain what they had encountered, but the newsman didn't take them seriously and thought it was just a plot for them to get famous. Verlin shook his head and changed the channel to something more entertaining. He found some action movies with good ratings to watch.

After a couple of hours of watching action movies, that would usually make his blood boil with excitement. Verlin couldn't help feeling a little dull. Although he had only had his powers for a few days, it was already having an effect on his psyche. He turned off the TV, got up, and went to his room.

Verlin lay down on his bed and picked up his phone to see more than 20 message notifications from Chloe. At first, she was asking if he was still going to meet her at the park. After she was getting panicked, thinking he was ignoring her, then she started begging him not to ignore her, and lastly started getting angry he was ignoring her.

Verlin couldn't help wondering if this girl had any friends or if she just had that much spare time. Verlin replied to her, saying, ' Sorry , I had been busy all day and hadn't had time to check my phone. And yes, I'll still be able to meet at the park tomorrow.'

It seemed Chloe had been anticipating his replay because she responded immediately, saying, ' Hahaha, that's good. Make sure to meet me at St. Edward Park at 12 pm. Also, forget all those mean messages I sent beforehand. 😅'

When Verlin saw the message, he just responded,' Alright '.

Verlin looked at the time and noticed it was 1 am. in the morning. He opened his window and looked up at the sky. It seemed even this world was the same. In urban cities, the stars are always hidden because of light pollution. Without his enhanced vision, he wouldn't be able to see through the smoke and mirrors. He flew outside and headed to the skies and right into space.

Verlin decided he was gonna sleep tonight, and he was gonna do it in space. Not only was it more comfortable, but here he doesn't have to be on edge, just to make sure nothing breaks. Verlin flew up to about 500 km above the ground, at his height. Even if it's nighttime in City A, he can see and feel the sun. It was like he was standing above the entire planet. Verlin closed his eyes and went to sleep.

The next day, when Verlin opened his eyes, he was no longer above the earth. He looked around and saw the earth was about 200,000km behind him. Verlin was first confused but soon came to a realization, It seemed his body had subconsciously moved closer to the sun. Thankfully, the process of moving towards the sun was relatively slow compared to the distance. Verlin turned towards the earth and started flying towards the earth.

Verlin didn't need to hold back in space as he did on earth, so he flew back at mach 10,000 and arrived back on top of earth in just a minute. He slowed down as he entered the atmosphere and made his way back to the mansion in City A. Verlin returned to his room through the window, and he picked up his phone and looked at the time. Fortunately, only a couple of hours had passed, and it was 8 am. in the morning.
