Sorry for the late chapter, everyone. Been a bit busy these past few days, but here it is. Enjoy the chapter and have a nice day.
----------------------------------------------------------
Haruki POV
Four days have passed since I told my parents about me being a dragon slayer and since Issei agreed to go on a date with Raynare, who he knows as Amano Yuuma, so it is now Sunday. In that time, I've been able to get used to the enhanced senses of a dragon, sense of balance included, ie, I'm not going to feel like puking if I get into a vehicle of any kind.
Among the multitude of things I've gotten done, one of those things is the placement of sight wards all over Kuoh, which basically function as cameras I can teleport to. As for how I can keep an eye on them at all times, that is handled by me partitioning my mind about 7 times to handle great amounts of information without too much stress. A few of them are currently watching Issei, while there are others watching the church, keeping an eye on the other fallen angels, while some are at Kuoh Academy watching the devils.
On that note, I had looked over my past self's capabilities, and man, am I talented. For one, I naturally have an eidetic memory, and am ambidextrous. I was able to create a fully functional mind palace at 10 years old, was able to use a great variety of runes at the level of an expert by 11, was also able to use touki and senjutsu at 12 years old, becoming the youngest high rank human in the world, was able to use the Mind's Eye technique at 13, and now, I have been able to create mental partitions that have shot my processing capabilities up by astronomical levels at 15.
All of that has helped me fully assimilate all the memories and knowledge I had inherited from my past self and the former Nature Dragon Slayer. And now that my power has become closer to that of a dragon, the limits on my magic have basically been removed. In this world where the supernatural is ever present, humans really got the short end of the stick.
Humans aren't naturally expected to have magic, let alone use it, which forced them to create their own version of magic that requires extensive use of the brain via calculations. Their lifespan is a lot shorter than other races, their natural affinity to supernatural energies is normally abysmal when compared to other races. The only reason humans had any actual relevance in the supernatural world was that they are the only race capable of naturally having Sacred Gears and are also the easiest race to mate and procreate with, generally speaking of course.
Either way, getting back to Issei's date, I know it will go on till the evening at about 6:00, so I'm not going to remain so focused on them. What I have to and am focusing on is the spar between me and my dad. As a result of training with Sun Wukong, we are both highly adept bojutsu users, and while we don't have something like the Ryui Jingu Bang, we have developed techniques that could imitate a few of its different functions. So far, we've been able to somewhat imitate it's lengthening and shortening by releasing concentrated shockwaves at an opponent, granted we haven't been able to get our staffs to hit an enemy more than 100 meters away without applying magic to them or throwing them, but it is what it is.
"You haven't sparred with me in over 3 months, so what brought this up?" My dad says while spinning his bo staff. "I need to properly get used to my new level of power, after all, I don't want to break someone in half by mistake. You're the person that could help me out the most and the fastest right now without any negative repercussions, so I thought, "Why not?". And now, here we are." I say while balancing my bo staff on my thumb.
"That so? Okay then, let's get into it." He dashes at me with a sharp toothed grin while swinging his bo staff at my shoulder blade. I respond by twirling my bo staff while keeping a significant amount of force concentrated near the tip, hitting his staff away and diverting his path. Of course, as a student of Sun Wukong, this was nowhere near enough to actually leave him open to attacks, which he proved by sliding the staff in his hands, then jabbing at my face which I avoid by stepping to the side while swinging my staff at his left leg to catch him slightly off balance, but he notices and dashes away before it hits him.
"Okay, so we done with the warmup?" Hearing his question, I smirk and nod in response then draw on my energy, causing my body to become filled with draconic power, strengthening me far beyond the limits of senjutsu or touki. He flares his touki then condenses it, then dashes toward me while sending a flurry of strikes at my head, chest, arm and leg joints and my jaw, all of which I parry away.
Seeing that light blows were ineffective, Dad attacking with rotating blows that were mainly aimed at my face, chest and lower abdomen, while also mixing in feints. I parry his blows by rotating my staff counterclockwise, however, one blow gets past my staff, leading me to dodge. As his staff passes my head, the air seemed to tear, alarming me to the imminent sonic boom that was about to take place right beside my ear.
His face changed from the grin he had to a wary face when he saw me smirk right before the explosion happened. As the explosion went off, I controlled the energy vectors, transferring all the energy of the explosion into the tip of my staff then launching the cumulative energy of the rotations and explosion into a shockwave that blasted him into the wall of our training room.
Now, one would wonder how people in the ultimate and high ranks could possibly train properly without causing damage to the rest of the town around them, and our answer to that is this training room. Our training room is 6 metres underground and can only be accessed by the three of us. There are repair, soundproofing, reinforcement, temperature manipulation and gravity magic circles on all sides of the room, floor and ceiling included, all connected to an array that allows us to change the nature of the training room.
"Looks like I'm all good now." I say while hearing my dad pulling himself out of the wall. "What do you mean you're all good now?" He asks while panting and massaging his chest where I hit him. "I never really explained what my abilities are as the Nature Dragon Slayer, so I'll do it now, especially since Mom is already at the door." My mom opens the door just as I say that, with a large triple-layered lunchbox in her hand.
"Hey, Mom. Thanks for the food. You might want to sit down." I tell her before she lets out a word. She turns to my dad with a questioning gaze, and he tells her what I had told him, then she shrugs and sits beside Dad on one of the benches. Letting out a small sigh, I begin explaining my abilities to them, clearing any misconceptions they may have had about the power of the Nature Dragon Slayer and causing a slightly crazed glint to shine in their eyes. My mom, because she could do research on draconic magic through me, and my dad, because he could now fight me without being left wounded afterwards, as I also possess healing magic, which is quite rare, believe it or not.
After I finished explaining, Mom and Dad left the training room, while I stayed back to properly work on a technique, or rather, a recreation of one. I still had vivid memories of the Highschool DxD anime, and I remember that despite the speed of the people in this world, next to no one has a movement technique, so I decided that I would recreate one myself. Specifically, the Shūndō(Instant Movement) technique from the world of Mahou Sensei Negima or UQ Holder, for those who don't know of Negima.
The way it worked was to use one's ki to connect to the earth beneath one's feet and use that connection to propel oneself at high speeds, and at a higher level of mastery, one could propel themselves on water, through air and even through the vacuum of space. So far, I've been able to use it on land and water, but I'm still trying to get faster before training its advanced form known as Kōku Shūndō(Void Instant Movement).
I would have chosen to recreate the Rokushiki from One Piece, but most of them are useless when compared to using Shūndō in this universe. For example, the Tekkai(Iron Body) technique can be bypassed or just overwhelmed by anyone with a good level of touki mastery. The Soru (Shave) and Geppo (Moon Walk) techniques are basically a downgrade from Shūndō and Kōku Shūndō. The Shigan (Finger Pistol) technique won't be all that effective here, as most beings here have far greater regenerative capabilities than most of the people in the world of One Piece. The Kami-e (Paper Arts) technique would easily be rendered useless by most magic and energy attacks.
Even the ones that would seem to be useful like the Rokuogan (Six King Gun), Seimei Kikan (Life Return) or Rankyaku (Tempest Kick) techniques are actually useless when brought here. The Rokuogan which attacks internally can be ignored by those who learn touki well enough to use it on their entire body. Seimei Kikan would only be useful for taking care of poisons here is useless to me and the Rankyaku, which is actually the one with the most possible use to me, creates air blades, which most people can shrug off or just create a spell that is multiple times more powerful than it. Not to mention, the use of Haki is impossible in this verse as it is. So that's why I chose to only work with Shūndō.
I trained on Shūndō for some hours and saw that the time had now reached 5:30pm, so I knew that it was time to start getting ready as Raynare will attack Issei at about 6pm. Teleporting to my room, I take a quick shower and dress up in a black t-shirt, a beige pair of cargo pants and black boots. I linked to a sight ward that I had placed near the fountain at the park away from the town and notice that Raynare is now removing her disguise. "Well, it's showtime." I say as I teleport to the park.
Narrator POV
A few minutes ago
Issei was joyful beyond comprehension. His measures and plans for a successful date had been a success. His girlfriend Amano Yuuma was happy and there was now a possibility that this date could end with their relationship moving forward.
They had reached the park outside the town and were now walking hand in hand. As they reach the fountain at the center of the park, Yuuma lets go of Issei's hand to stand close to the fountain. "It sure was fun today." She says with the sunset behind her, causing Issei to happily squeal internally.
"Hey, Ise-kun." Hearing her voice calling his name once more shot Issei into another torrent of glee, but he internalized his reaction as he did not want to appear weird to his girlfriend. "What is it, Yuuma-chan?" He asks her with some slight expectation. "There's something I want to do to celebrate our first date. Can you listen to my wish?" *Thump* *Gulp* "W-What is the wish you want?" Her words caused Issei's heart to begin thumping in his chest, as despite all of his preparation, his mind was still not prepared for more intimate acts.
She smiles at him, causing his heart to palpitate even more, until she says what she wants. "Will you die for me?" Blinking a few times to be sure that he wasn't having auditory hallucinations, he asks her to repeat herself, which she does while laughing. In an attempt to brush it off, he starts to say that it's a joke when suddenly, black wings come out of Yuuma's back and her eyes turn cold.
"It was fun, you know. This short time I had spent with you was like playing house with a little child." Yuuma says, her voice and smile cold. *Buzz* A heavy buzzing noise comes from seemingly out of nowhere and a spear of light appears in her hands. She throws it at Issei who is still paralyzed by shock, only for it to be caught in someone else's hands.
"Jeez, Issei. I know you were pretty desperate for a girlfriend, but I wouldn't have thought you'd take a crazy bitch as one." Issei, upon hearing the voice is jolted out of his shock, then looks to see Haruki crush the spear in his left hand. What he sees afterwards perplexed him even further, as Haruki opened his mouth and seemed to inhale the specks of light that the spear had broken into, then spitting on the floor almost as if in disgust. "I expected too much from a low rank fallen." He says as be wipes his mouth.
"Who the hell are you?" Yuuma asks while creating another spear, preparing to attack the new arrival. "I'm no one special, just this idiot's best friend and someone who you really shouldn't have fucked with." Haruki says and smacks her in the face faster than she could sense his movement, launching her into a tree and knocking her out in a single blow.
Issei jolted out of his shock and stood up. "Haruki, what do you think you're doing?" He says while pointing to the now unconscious fallen angel. "Saving your life, you idiot. You might not know, but right now, you are in more danger than you can fathom." Haruki says to Issei in a reprimanding tone, causing him to shut up.
"The girl by the name Amano Yuuma does not exist in Kuoh. If she did, she's most likely dead, thanks to this person, who is a fallen angel." Haruki tells Issei as he binds the fallen with magic. "What is that supposed to mean?" Issei asks skeptically. "The world as you know it harbors supernatural beings, you just didn't know it. Angels, devils, fallen angels, yokai, mythical creatures like unicorns, vampires, werewolves, gods and even dragons exist and are active in the world to this day. As a matter of fact, a dragon is in you." Haruki tells Issei, greatly shocking him, but he looks at the bound fallen and accepts that what his friend is saying is most likely true.
"Fine, I'll accept that the supernatural exists, but what do you mean a dragon is in me?" Huffing out a sigh in relief, Haruki opens a portal and tells Issei to follow him while he drags the fallen angel by her leg. "It's going to be a long explanation, but you'll thank me after." Haruki says as he closes the portal behind them, leaving the park empty.
