Meet Atenzi, your everyday aikido teacher living a quiet life. That is, until he gets jumped and stabbed one night. As he's bleeding out, Atenzi gets mad. Real mad. He yells at the sky, begging for another shot at life where he can be a total badass instead of a pushover. Turns out, some bored gods were listening. They toss Atenzi into a crazy new world as their wild card. Here, humans are at the bottom of the food chain, and history's biggest names are duking it out for power. Now Atenzi's got to level up from zero to hero, fast. He's facing off against the likes of Genghis Khan and Napoleon, while trying to team up with other famous faces scattered across this messed-up world. But Atenzi's not playing by the rules. He's out for blood, aiming to crush everyone in his path - even the gods who gave him this second chance. Watch as this ordinary guy turns into the biggest, baddest predator Universe X has ever seen.
Night fell over Bloodmire. Atenzi couldn't sleep.
His mind raced with plans, but his body felt odd.
Restless, like it was full of strange energy.
He walked around his room. His bare feet made no sound on the cold floor. Everything seemed sharper - the torch flames too bright, the night sounds too loud.
"What's happening to me?" he muttered, running a hand through his hair.
A soft knock came at the door. Atenzi opened it faster than he thought possible. Báthory stood there, eyes wide at his quick move.
"Can't sleep, my champion?" she asked.
Atenzi nodded and let her in. "My mind won't quiet. And my body..." He didn't know how to explain the feeling.
Báthory looked at him closely. "Maybe some late-night training would help? Work out that extra energy?"
The idea sounded good. Atenzi agreed quickly.
They went to a small, private training room. Atenzi started warming up. Báthory watched from the side.
"Show me what you've learned," she said softly. "Don't hold back."
Atenzi raised an eyebrow but didn't ask questions. He began to move, flowing through forms with inhuman grace.
As he trained, he felt strange. It was like he could feel the air around him, sense tiny changes in heat and pressure as he moved. He was faster and stronger than ever.
Báthory spoke up. "Impressive. But let's see how you do against a real opponent."
Before Atenzi could answer, she attacked. She moved lightning-fast, showing her vampire strength and speed.
But to Atenzi's shock, he could see her moves as if they were slow. He dodged her first strike and countered with a move he'd never practiced. His body seemed to know what to do on its own.
They fought at a speed normal humans couldn't follow. Their moves were a blur of deadly skill.
As they fought harder, Atenzi enjoyed his new abilities.
He could hear Báthory's silent heart, smell the faint blood on her breath. Every sense was alive, every nerve tingling with power.
Finally, Atenzi pinned Báthory to the wall. They stood close, both breathing hard even though Báthory didn't need to breathe.
"How?" Báthory whispered, looking awed and something more. "How are you doing this?"
Atenzi shook his head, just as confused. "I... I don't know. It's like my body's moving on its own, like I've unlocked some hidden power."
Báthory touched his cheek. Her touch sent shivers down his spine. "Oh, my dear Atenzi. You don't know how special you really are."
Her voice held a hint of possession that should have worried him. But Atenzi was too caught up in his new powers to notice.
"We should test these new skills," he said, stepping back. "If I can use this power in our plans..."
Báthory nodded, smiling slightly. "Of course. We'll start harder training right away. But for now, you should rest. These changes... they might be hard on your body."
As they walked back to Atenzi's room, he was very aware of Báthory. The way she moved, the sound of her steps, even her faint perfume - it all seemed stronger, almost too much.
At his door, Báthory paused. "Sleep well, my champion. Tomorrow, we plan our next move against the Harbingers."
Atenzi nodded, his mind racing with ideas. As he closed the door, he missed the look of triumph on Báthory's face.
The next few days were a blur of hard training and planning. Atenzi pushed himself harder than ever, enjoying his new abilities.
He could outrun the vampire killers, hear talks from across the castle, and see in near-dark.
During a tough session with Vislav and the other top killers, Atenzi found himself surrounded. Practice weapons came at him from all sides.
Time seemed to slow. He could see every move his opponents would make, think of counters faster than thought.
What followed amazed even the tough vampire killers. Atenzi moved like a ghost, untouchable. His practice blade found openings that shouldn't have been there.
In moments, all his opponents were disarmed. They stared at him with respect and fear.
"How?" Vislav asked, echoing Báthory's question from before. "How are you doing this?"
Atenzi shook his head, still unsure himself. "Practice," he said simply. "And a will to push past normal limits."
As the killers left, still talking in awe, Atenzi saw Báthory watching from the shadows. She came closer, her eyes shining with something he couldn't quite name.
"You keep amazing us," she purred, touching his arm. "Soon, you'll be ready to face the Harbingers themselves."
Atenzi nodded, already thinking of their plans. "Jesus first," he said. "We'll need to be careful, but with these new powers, I think we can move faster."
Báthory's smile grew. "Of course. But remember, dear Atenzi, don't push too hard. These changes... they're still new. We wouldn't want you to burn out before the real fight starts."
As they walked to the war room, Atenzi found himself leaning into Báthory's touch. He told himself it was just tiredness from hard training, but part of him wondered if there was more to it.
In the war room, they studied maps and reports, improving their plans. Atenzi's mind worked faster than ever. He saw connections he'd missed before. It was exciting, this new mental sharpness.
As night fell, Atenzi realized he'd worked for hours without rest or food. He told Báthory, sounding confused.
"Maybe your body's just getting more efficient," she suggested, her voice careful. "Probably from all the hard training."
Atenzi nodded, accepting this. But as he went to his room, doubt began to grow in his mind. These changes, good as they were, didn't quite make sense.
He was missing something, some piece of the puzzle just out of reach.
He stood at his window, looking out over Bloodmire at night. In the distance, he could see movement - night creatures going about their business, visible to his sharp eyes.
"What's happening to me?" he murmured, asking the same question as days before.
But this time, there was no answer.
Only the night's silence, and the growing feeling that something big had changed. Whether it was good or bad, he didn't know yet.
As Atenzi finally fell asleep, he dreamed of power and conquest.
But under it all was a feeling of worry, a sense that he stood on the edge of a cliff, about to fall into the unknown.
He didn't know it, but the real test of his strength - and his humanity - was yet to come.
