Chapter 61

While Augustus was comforting Lucifer in his arms, the people of the Empire were angrily scolding him for what he didn't do.

A video was posted online, and it was of Athena leading Lucifer while Apollo and Artemis were aiming their bows and arrows at the crowd.

Lucifer slowly came to his senses and realized that Augustus was hugging him. His breathing had already calmed down, but his eyes were red and puffy. Augustus's shirt was a bit wet from his tears.

He was very embarrassed by now, his face was probably red from embarrassment, so he just snuggled deeper into Augustus.

"Aw," Apollo said.

"Shut up," Lucifer said, but he was muffled, and his voice ended up cracking.

His breathing was still shaky, but it was stable enough for Augustus to know he was alright. "You smell like dried-up sweat," Lucifer said.

"Sorry, I was brought here after stealth practice," he said.

"It's fine," Lucifer replies.

He releases Augustus and sees the principal of the school on her knees, tears falling from her eyes. "What's with her?" he asked.

"She went through your mind to bring you out," Athena said blankly.

Medley snaps out of her trance. She then proceeds to bow to him. "My liege, I am the reincarnation of Medusa the Gorgon and your friend, Hiro's aunt, Medley De La Fontaine," she introduced herself.

"Okay, you may now get up," Lucifer replies. 'I don't know who Medusa is,' he thought as he looked at Athena. "Thank you for covering my eyes and ears," he said. "But I didn't appreciate being carried without warning."

"You're welcome?" Athena replies, unsure of how to react.

Lucifer releases Augustus and looks at himself. "My disguise is broken," he said, snapping his fingers. Then his disguise reappeared, just in time, because it wasn't long before Roger, Hiro, Rosemarie, and Philip came inside the medical room.

"Phoenix!" Hiro shouts, and everyone runs to him. With him and Roger going in to hug him.

"Are you alright?" Hiro asked worriedly. "Roger said you had a panic attack."

'Is that what it is called?' Lucifer thought before replying, "I'm fine."

"Hiro, can I speak to you for a moment?" Medley said softly, walking out of the medical room.

Hiro froze a bit before nodding and getting up to meet his aunt.

Lucifer had felt Hiro freeze, frowning as he watched Hiro leave.

Once outside the medical room, Hiro's shoulder was grabbed by Medley, and she shook him excitedly. "Why didn't you tell me you were friends with him?" she asked, sounding happy and excited.

Hiro was expecting her to say something like, 'Don't mess up being friends with His Highness' fiance' or something like his father.

"How long have you been friends with him?" she asked excitedly.

"A month? But we were best friends before I got engaged," Hiro replies truthfully.

Medley smiled and shook him happily. "Do you have any idea how lucky you are to be friends with him?" she asked.

Hiro felt disappointed. 'Is it because he's His Highness' fiancé?' he thought. Many of the students were sneering at him and insulting him because he's friends with Phoenix. The same was happening to Roger, Rosemarie, and Philip as well.

"To be one of the people of someone as divine as Phoenix, do you know how blessed you are?" she said.

Hiro was completely confused by his aunt's behavior. Why is she acting like that?

Medley saw Hiro looking confused, then she smiled. "Just continue being yourself around him, and you'll go farther than you ever did," she said softly.

Hiro smiled a bit. Medley isn't as awful as he had imagined; she was nicer than when he saw her from afar.

"Okay, Aunty Medley," he said.

"Alright, let's go in," she said.

"The people online are angry at four of you," Rosemarie said, showing them the video.

They saw the video, and the gods were enraged. "How could they?" Artemis said angrily.

"Many famous journalists are posting this video on their websites, no one wants to post the truth of what happened," Rosemarie said, looking at Lucifer, waiting for a reaction or a sign of anger. However,  he didn't get angry. "I have video evidence for what happened, though, I just needed time to post it online," she said.

Lucifer smiled at her and said, "Thank you, Rosemarie."

Rosemarie felt conflicted by his thank-you, but she nodded blankly before posting the video online.

"Why would everyone suddenly start rushing over to look at me?" Lucifer asked.

Roger, Rosemarie, and Philip looked at each other in confusion before looking at Lucifer. "Don't you know the Empress posted on her page that you were His Highness' fiance?" Roger said.

"Didn't the Empire know that before?" Lucifer asked, looking confused. "That girl Lillian said it, and everyone must have seen it on the day of the mall incident that Augustus carried me home," he said.

"The reason everyone is making a big deal about it now," Augustus said, "is because with my past fiances, no one in the royal family announced it, but now that my mother announced it, it means that we are actually close and they want to get as much information about me from you."

'Humans,' Lucifer thought, rolling his eyes. "Have you posted the video?" he asked Rosemarie. Just then Medley and Hiro came in, the aura between them was peaceful and not tense.

"Yes," Rosemarie replies, nodding.

"Good," Lucifer said. "I want to make a video of me with Augustus beside me and let people know what actually happened."

Rosemarie nodded.

When she was ready, she signaled Lucifer to begin, and he spoke. Lucifer's eyes became cold and hard, as well as Augustus'.

"Good day, people of the Bolivian Empire," he said coldly. "I hope the people who surrounded my car this morning are listening. Are you proud of yourself for what you've done?" he said.

"If you don't know what happened," he said. "Play the video you showed me," he signaled to Rosemarie, who was a bit confused at first before she connected and played it.

Lucifer's eyes became colder as the video played. "None of you know what happened, and yet you judge me and my companions for aiming their weapons at them," he said. "Now let me tell you what happened. I was in the middle of what you know as a panic attack. You may not know this, but if my companions hadn't done what they did before and I was left alone in that crowd, the news you would be seeing would be that of the deaths of everyone around me, and that is not a joke," he said.

"I don't know how long I was unconscious, but Augustus is here," he said, leaning against him while glaring at the screen. "I would brag about how he comforted me, but none of you are worthy of hearing what I have to say about him. Before I go, I have something to say to all of you. You are meant to be civilized human beings. Try and act like it, or else don't blame me for treating you otherwise."

With that, the video ended. "I'll post it now," Rosemarie said.

"Not worthy of hearing what you have to say about me?" Augustus said.

"Are they?" Lucifer said, huffing. "If they were, then they would not have behaved the way they did, they could just come up to me one by one and ask."

Their conversation left everyone out. "I feel so lonely right now," Apollo said in dispair.
