Chapter 60

The woman went straight to the medical room Roger had led them after dealing with everyone an hour later.

Once she enters, she wasn't surprised to still see Athena pacing around there, but she was surprised to see Artemis and Apollo trying to calm her down.

"Settle down please," the woman said to the gods. "I never thought I'd ever the day the great gods worry about one of the most dangerous enemies you ever had," she said in mockery.

This angered Apollo and Artemis. They pulled out their bows again, ready to shoot down this mortal.

Athena realized who she was almost immediately. "Medusa," she said growling.

The woman smiled. "I'm called Medley in this life," she said. "I'm surprised you still remember me, my goddess," she said.

"How could I forget," Athena said mockingly. "Your head is still on Aegis."

The goddess then transformed to her goddess form, holding a spear and shield, which had the head of the Gorgon, Medusa.

Medley sneers at her. Athena then turned back to her human teenage form. "What do you want Medusa?" she asked with venom in her voice.

Apollo and Artemis had already put away their weapons. They weren't going to punish this mortal for disrespecting them just yet.

"Just wanted to confirm if you guys were truly the gods. I guess my question was already answered," Medley replies smuggly, smirking at her achievement.

She walks to Lucifer and touched his forehead. "There must be another peace treaty for you three to be here watching after him," she said.

The three gods didn't answer her. Their silence answered her. A bright blue magic circle appears on her hands.

'Of course she learnt magic as well,' Athena thought.

Medley's hands hovered over Lucifer's head. She then frowns. "Jolting back him back to reality doesn't seem to be a good idea," she murmurs loud enough for the gods to hear.

"And why is that?" Artemis asked.

"Because there's a fifty percent chance that the memory he's on is going to be one of the worst ones where you are in," Medley replies.

"His mind wouldn't be clear when he wakes up, so if we're the ones he sees first, it would be a battle that would immediately cancel the peace treaty," Athena explained.

"And he wouldn't be waking up anytime soon, it would probably take a few days," Medley said as she stopped using her magic.

"Bring Augustus here," Athena said to Artemis who nodded.

Artemis nodded and immediately disappears.

"Why not Rosetta?" Apollo asked.

"Augustus knows, Rosetta doesn't, and I would not want to explain anything to her," Athena replies.

The disguise Lucifer had put on disappeared and his true appearance came through. "Even his true appearance is beautiful," Medley said in a daze voice.

"You seem to adore him," Athena said coldly at her.

"Of course I do," Medley replies. "I'm his biggest fan. He managed to make powerful gods like you and Poseidon tremble in fear, why wouldn't I adore him?"

Athena sneers at her. She isn't lying though.

Augustus was going through stealth practice. He was holding his gun, ready to end his practice.

He shot the last target and the simulation ended. "Good job, Augustus," the instructor outside the training room said. "Izz Hut, you're next."

Augustus walked to the exit when Artemis appeared in front of him. He doesn't react in anyway for a while. The security alarm blares, but Augustus said, "She's not here to hurt me, sir!"

"We need your help with Lu- Phoenix," she said seriously.

Augustus' eyes widened. "Okay," he said. Artemis holds his shoulder and they both disappeared.

"What just happened?" A student in the observation room said.

"She mentioned His Highness' fiancé's name."

Someone gasps. "A quest for love?"

They appeared back in the medical room. Augustus steps in and sees Lucifer lying on the bed unconscious. "Your Highness," Medley greets him respectfully. 

"What happened to him?" Augustus asked.

"He had a panic attack, then fainted," Athena said. "Medusa--"

"Medley!"

Athena glared at her as she was interrupted. "I'll turn you back to the monster you were," she threatened.

"Feel free, I miss turning people to stone," Medley replies.

Augustus raised an eyebrow. He guess that they know each other. He walks towards Lucifer and his disguise was down. His skin was incredibly pale and there was a small frown on his face.

"Just wake him up!" Artemis shouted in annoyance.

'They act like Lucifer and Xavier,' Augustus thought.

Medley huffs and raised her hand using magic and surprising Augustus. "You know how to use it?" he said.

"Yes," Medusa replies. "Now hush, I need to concentrate."

She closed her eyes as rummaged through Lucifer's memories looking for the where his soul might be.

Her heart was breaking as she moved through his memory. She saw every arc of his life.

After what a few hours she found the real one in the memory of his mother getting killed in front of him by an angry mob.

She grabs his soul and pulls him out of his mind. When she jolted back to reality and fell to her knees. "The gods are more horrible than I imagined," she whispered.

Lucifer woke up shouting in a foreign language, crying and attempting to jump out of bed.

Augustus hugs him and begins to brush his hair. "Shh, it's over now, don't worry," he said.

Apollo, Artemis, and Athena watched Augustus calmed Lucifer down. "Damn, I want someone to comfort me like that," he whispered, earning himself a smack from both goddesses.
