Someone had come looking for her
Mischelle felt at ease ever since she turned off her phone. To avoid Ella from suspecting her, she explained that her phone was not working and that she should check on her via landline calls.
Ella was dubious about leaving her alone, but Mischelle assured her that she was OK and that she didn't need to worry about her anymore.
Mischelle concluded her errand and sat down on the couch, holding a glass of water.
She drank half of it and set it on the table in front of her before relaxing on the couch.
Mischelle did not wish to maintain contact with Jedrick. She would never tell him that Ella was his daughter. His shadow alone posed a threat to their existence, and she wanted to go as far away as possible.
She grabbed the remote control, turned on the television, and switched to a series. She needed to divert herself from her bothersome thoughts.
