Later that evening, after Ella returned home from work, Mischelle and she had dinner together. It was still too early for them to go to bed, so Ella decided to prepare the utensils and join her mother on their small balcony.
"Mom, do you remember the day I called you to see if you were okay?" Ella asked, her gaze darting to the side.
"Hmm," Mischelle hummed as she turned around and leaned her back against the railing, her gaze fixated on Ella.
"Actually, the call was not to check on you. It was for confirming something" she whispered quietly.
Mischelle's face was frowning with perplexity as she regarded her daughter skeptically.
"Confirmation?" she questioned, still unable to understand what the talk was about.
"Yes, confirmation. I happened to see someone like you on Billord Streets, so I called to confirm my suspicion," she explained as she saw the color fade from her mother's cheeks.
