Chapter 393 - New Evidence of Cheating (Part Two)

"I don't know why the bruises disappeared, but it doesn't matter, Jack. I have even more important evidence to prove that we were indeed together!" Keira didn't care much about those photos. The photos were just a gimmick, released to grab more attention in the shortest time possible.

Originally, she thought those photos would be enough. However, she didn't anticipate Roy's cunning denial, which had left her in a predicament. Fortunately, she had been cautious at the time; otherwise, she might have turned into a laughingstock.

Reporter Jack looked at her skeptically. "You don't have more unreliable evidence, do you? Because of what you said about the bruises, I became a laughingstock in front of countless people today!"

Keira chuckled, "Don't worry, this evidence is more valuable than the photos."

Valuable... Jack knew she was asking for money again.

"The evidence about the bruises was fake, and you want money for this evidence too?" 

Keira shrugged indifferently. "You can choose not to believe me, but I've already told you. Whether you can get your hands on it depends on your abilities!"

"OK! I hope this time it's not a hoax!" Jack reluctantly agreed. If this worked, he could finally erase the humiliation he had faced earlier and become a hero among reporters!

After some haggling, he indeed obtained a piece of crucial information from Keira.

"Is what you're saying true?"

Keira shrugged again, nonchalant. "You can choose not to believe it, but I've already told you. Whether you can get it is up to you!"

"OK! I hope this time it's not counterfeit!" With that, Jack rushed out. Women like her were truly terrifying. Even though he was a paparazzo who chased after celebrities all day, accustomed to the dark side of reporters, he rarely encountered someone as ruthlessly profit-driven as her. He didn't want to spend another minute with her!

Keira provided him with the name of a hotel and a specific time, the very hotel Roy had chosen for his massage appointment. As long as he could obtain the hotel's surveillance footage from that time, everything would become clear!

Reporters always had their ways, and no matter how strict the hotel's rules were, it wasn't difficult for them to obtain some information on their own. That evening, Jack exchanged an envelope with surveillance footage from a certain hotel's surveillance room...

Ecstatic, he immediately wrote a several-thousand-word article on the topic and rushed it to the editor-in-chief's desk. The editor-in-chief was equally thrilled; with concrete evidence in hand, what could Roy say to defend himself this time? Front-page material! It was decided.

Thus, the headline of the New York Post on the following day read: "Hotel Surveillance Video Exposed: The Man in the Video is Roy Seasonstar!"

The article included a cropped image from the surveillance footage, one of Keira, and another showing "Roy" pushing his hair back, revealing half of his face.

The piece used emotional language to vividly recount what had happened at the time, such as how Roy had chosen the hotel and arranged to meet Keira. The romantic encounter between the two in the hotel was depicted with suggestive phrases as if they had witnessed it firsthand.

"Excellent job!" The editor-in-chief called Jack into his office again, praising him. He handed him a check as a reward. "Now, go look for more evidence. Make sure to handle this in a way that leaves no room for doubt. If the boss is pleased, a promotion and raise might not be out of the question!"

"Don't worry, Chief. I'll do my best!" Jack vigorously nodded but silently cursed the editor for being so stingy. He had paid 500,000 dollars for that piece of news. Did the editor think 50,000 dollars was enough? If the newspaper sold well because of this, he would receive a bonus, but he still felt shortchanged.

However, they didn't have much time to celebrate. A staff member rushed into the office in haste. "Chief, something's not right!"

"What's going on?"

"Take a look at this." The staff member placed a newspaper on the editor-in-chief's desk, but it wasn't their New York Post; it was the rival Morin Group's Entertainer!

The editor-in-chief furrowed his brow and picked up the newspaper, reading the front-page headline. It turned out that the Entertainer had also published a similar story about Roy, complete with two images that appeared to be from hotel surveillance footage.

"What's going on here?" He hadn't read the content yet, but he had assumed that both newspapers had simply acquired similar information and produced matching stories. If that were the case, it wouldn't matter much. At most, they might not sell as many copies as expected.
