Hearing Faiza's voice, she exclaimed, "So what if she's good at making movies? She's just from a small film company. Even if she's good, she won't match up to the top eight Hollywood film production companies, will she? If she dares to get close to Prince Al Nadeem again, I promise I'll make her lose her most precious thing in a way that will make her weep!"
Laila's eyes twitched. "Her most precious thing?" She knew Faiza was referring to her filmmaking career, but the statement sounded quite ambiguous.
The butler responded calmly, "Miss Faiza, it's best if you don't do that. The prince's condition only improves when Miss Laila is around. It was personally arranged by His Royal Highness. If you disrupt his plans, I'm afraid that even you might face his punishment."
"Stop talking nonsense. I wasn't raised being scared!" Faiza sneered, "Just watch, I'll prevent Al Nadeem from being seduced by that woman! She reveals even the slightest intention, and I'll make her understand that her reputation and wealth are nothing but bubbles!" With that, she stormed off in anger.
Shortly after, the sound of a door closing followed, presumably the butler leaving as well.
Only then did Roy quietly lead Laila far away. When there were no others around, he couldn't hold back his laughter any longer.
Laila watched him laugh uproariously, and aside from suppressing the urge to kick him a couple of times, all she could do was continue to stare at him with a cold expression. She regretted wearing this skin-tight dress; even lifting her foot was a hassle.
After a while, Roy stopped laughing: "Boss, do you really want to marry into the noble royal family? Then, will I call you Your Highness Princess in the future?" in a Not-so-standard medieval etiquette.
Laila looked at him without saying a word, just staring at him unblinkingly with her ice-blue eyes.
Not to mention, Roy is really afraid of this. The main reason is that her eyes are too cold. Ever seen those ice-blue eyes of a husky? Laila's eyes were about the same color as that, only a little darker at most.
"Okay, my joke was wrong, I apologize."
One of Roy's greatest strengths is that when he feels that he has done something wrong, he will readily apologize. But at the same time, his shortcoming is just the opposite, that is, when he thinks he is right, he will never admit that he is wrong against his will. Unless you come up with a reason to convince him.
"However, Boss, that woman seems to be trying to harm you. Do you think a rich person like her will use money to do disgusting things to us?" The word "us" made Laila narrow her eyes in satisfaction.
This is a good signal that he regards the company as where he belongs. If you can have a sense of belonging, it will not be so simple if others try to dig him from her company, right? Otherwise, after spending a lot of money to package him, and in exchange he became a cash cow for other companies, she would die of depression.
"It doesn't matter, she can do whatever she wants." In fact, she didn't think that an outsider who wanted to get involved in Hollywood would have much impact on her career. If money could get things done, Hollywood wouldn't have so many blockbusters that failed and lost money.
Roy gave two thumbs up: "As expected of my boss, what you say is Mighty and Domineering!"
Laila slapped his hand off: "Okay, save the energy to flatter me, follow the instructions of the teacher and coach, and finish the training. When I finish shooting the new movie, preparations for your big production will begin."
Roy's eyes lit up when he heard that: "My big production?"
"Not bad." Laila nodded with a smile: "It's definitely a big production that won't disappoint you!"
"How much money can you make?"
This money fan... Leila gave him an angry look: "I promise to make sure your salary becomes one of the highest among all of Hollywood's once the movie finishes screening!"
"YES!" Roy jumped up with his fists clenched, "I knew you would not let me down! This is enough money for my brother to go to college!" More than just enough money to go to college, enough money to marry a wife and have children! Laila really didn't know how he was going to train his brother, was he really going to be enshrine his brother like a prince?
However, it's not her style to ignore threats. How to deal with possible accidents, she still has to think about it...
"Boss, are you planning how to manipulate people now?" He looked at her enigmatic expression and knew that her mind was churning with thoughts. The more nonchalant she appeared, the more uneasy she probably felt. Especially when facing the "enemy," the more she dreaded them, the more impeccable she acted.
If she had grown up in his world, this behavior would be easier to understand. However, her family and environment were all top-notch. Could anyone who had spent some time lying in a hospital bed become like this?
Laila touched her face. "Is it that obvious?"
"..." So, she really is scheming? Roy wiped his cold sweat. It was probably better not to speak out loud what he was thinking; it would be more beneficial for his safety. "No, I just think you're not the type to surrender easily."
"Good to know. Let's go back." Laila patted his back and headed back the way they came.
Back at the banquet hall, she finally saw Director Lucas. He was surrounded by a few other well-known directors.
"Laila, sweetheart, we were just discussing you."
Seeing her approach, Director Lucas waved at her warmly.
"Discussing me?" Laila smiled awkwardly. "What's there to discuss about me?"
Roy stared at her, dumbfounded by her innocent appearance. He couldn't help but shake his head and quickly made up an excuse before leaving. For some reason, he found this version of Laila quite terrifying. He'd prefer to see a boss roaring like a lion; facing a boss who smiled charmingly like a lady was something else entirely.
He left so quickly that Laila didn't even have a chance to introduce him to the prominent directors to make them familiar with his face.
Laila stood beside Director Lucas and looked at the other directors. She didn't say much; she was a bit tired after eavesdropping on a conversation that had taken quite a different turn from what she expected. However, she didn't want to let her fatigue show on her face.
Director Lucas smiled kindly, introducing Laila to the other directors. "This is Laila, the talented young filmmaker I was telling you about."
The other directors greeted her politely, expressing their interest in her work. They started discussing the filmmaking industry, trends, and various aspects of their craft. Laila actively participated in the conversation, sharing her insights and learning from the experienced directors.
As the night went on, the conversations shifted to more general topics related to the entertainment industry. Laila was glad for the opportunity to connect with these influential individuals. Despite her initial exhaustion, the engaging discussions rejuvenated her energy.
Eventually, the event came to an end, and the guests began to disperse. Laila thanked Director Lucas for the invitation and the opportunity to meet the other directors. She also exchanged contact information with some of them, expressing her hope for future collaborations.
With the event concluded, Laila returned to her accommodations, ready to rest and recharge for the challenges that lay ahead. She had learned a great deal from the evening, not only about the entertainment industry but also about the complex dynamics that existed within it. As she lay in bed, her thoughts drifted back to the eavesdropped conversation. While Faiza's threats had initially unsettled her, she was now determined to face whatever challenges came her way with her usual tenacity. After all, success was often born from adversity, and Laila was no stranger to overcoming obstacles on her path to greatness.
