Alex didn't want to engage the Fire Elementals yet as he wanted to regenerate his mana more. Sadly, that wouldn't be possible as the Elite Fire Elemental roared with anger. It was furious, and it knew where to discharge this fury. The Fire Elemental charged toward them, leaving the two other elementals. Alex expected it, however, that didn't mean he was happy about being right. He sat up and took out his sword. They still had a few seconds before the elemental arrived, so Alex said,
"Blossom, try to tank the other two until we deal with this one. Rose, your priority is to make sure Blossom doesn't die so we don't get overwhelmed. Claire, you're with me dealing with the Elite Elemental."
"Understood."
Alex rushed the Elite Fire Elemental, with Claire launching a spell. The spell was a basic Earth Spell and did little to no damage. It did block its view, and Alex took advantage of that fact. Alex had activated his Sub-Skill Flaw and looked for an open weak point. He saw a large yellow patch on its left arm. Alex had found his target; he activated Accelerate and slashed through the patch with great precision. However, when he looked back, he saw the Fire Elemental smirk and the yellow patch still there. That's when he noticed he had missed; no, it had dodged his attack. Alex knew he was in a bad position, however, he wasn't alone. Claire had finished chanting a spell and launched a Wind Slash. The slash hit the Elemental on its head, which brought its attention to Claire and away from Alex. Alex took this opportunity to stab the yellow patch he could see, making its left arm crumble down. He looked back in shock; however, Alex was already out of its attack range. Alex then regrouped with Claire and began another round of attacks. He looked at Claire and told her the plan, and once she nodded, Alex rushed in again. While Claire had already chanted another spell, Wind Shot, Alex was about to make contact with the Fire Elemental. However, the elemental was on edge. It didn't want to let the mage hit him again; however, it needed to block the swordsman's attack. It felt the swordsman was more of a threat and focused its attention on him. Alex slashed at the exposed part of its core; however, it was blocked by its right hand. Alex knew this would happen, so he used the Spell Stop on the mana around them. The elemental seemed surprised by that, and Alex slashed again, this time on a yellow patch on its right arm. Fearing danger, it moved its arm, dodging the attack but exposing the core. Claire had already launched her spell, and as it glided through the air, the elemental could only watch as it pierced its core, and it crumbled. Or so they thought.
While Alex and Claire shifted their attention to the other two elementals, the crumbled rocks, which were its body, began to reconstruct. While Claire was further away and could see it in the corner of her eye, she couldn't warn Alex in time before he was grabbed and thrown across toward the other elementals. He crashed right into them, burning his body in the process. The Rare elementals looked at Alex and were about to attack him when Blossom used the skill Shout. This made the elementals focus on Blossom while Rose quickly cast a healing spell on Alex. While Alex was still hurt, he was able to stand up. He looked at the Elite Fire Elemental and started to walk toward it. He used the skill Warp to buy a minute or two to sort out his thoughts and make a plan. Time seemed to slow down, and everything became clearer. He still had his Sub-Skill Flaw activated. Alex looked at the body of the elemental and noticed a small golden patch moving in a systematic manner around its body. He calculated where it would be in a minute and disabled the Warp skill. Time began to speed up to its normal speed, and Alex rushed the elemental. Claire didn't need to be told what to do, so she made an opening for him. She used Wind Slash to attack its left arm and an earth spell that just bounced off. Of course, it blocked its vision for a few seconds again, and that's when Alex stabbed through its right thigh. The sword pierced the small patch, and the elemental crumbled and perished. The Fire Elemental flowed yellow for a couple of seconds, and a few items appeared near its crumbled body. This time it was down for good, and they could kill the last two elementals. Thirty minutes later, the other two elementals crumbled. Now that they had cleared the enemies, they could check the system notifications.
[You Killed an Elite Flame Elemental (Tier 1, Level 23)]
[You killed a Rare Flame Elemental (Level 19)]
[You killed a Rare Flame Elemental (Level 18)]
[You have cleared the Fire Cave on Hell.]
[You gained the title: Not once, but Twice]
While Claire looked excited about the Elite Slayer Title, Alex was curious about the new title he had gained.
[Not Once, but Twice
Rank: Silver
Effects: World Renown +1]
[Would you like to announce your achievement?]
[Yes] [No]
Alex looked at the title in shock. He had gained World Renown from a title! Alex looked at the conditions to get the title and realized why the reward was so good. Someone had to kill a higher-tier being twice. Killing a higher-tier being was incredibly difficult and is considered near impossible. Of course, he wasn't complaining as World Renown was incredibly hard to obtain and useful. World Renown is how well you're known across the world. Different from NPCs, world renown gives an advantage in reputation. With each point, you get an increase of 50% reputation gain and a 500 reputation base. That means any city or location you go to, you'll get 500 reputation points. That's about halfway to a citizen! If someone had 2 points, they would immediately become a citizen anywhere they visit! Alex looked over at Blossom and started to head toward her. Just before he could reach her, Rose called out to him.
"Lucifer, are you alright? Do I need to cast another healing spell?"
"That would be appreciated."
"Alright."
Rose chanted another healing spell and used it on Alex. Alex smiled and thanked her. He then called out to Blossom to talk. He wanted to talk privately, so they went a little bit away from the group.
"What do you need to talk about, Lucifer?"
"Well, first, I wanted to give you the agreed compensation. I also wanted to give you a little bit of information. If you choose to believe it or not doesn't concern me."
"Information?"
"Yes, the information is to die as little as possible or not at all. Death has a hidden consequence."
"While I do appreciate this advice, however, I already planned on dying as little as possible."
"Well, alright. Just know I warned you."
"I'll keep that in mind."
While Blossom and Alex were talking, Rose and Claire were having their own conversation.
"What do you think they're talking about, Rose?"
"I don't know, maybe the compensation? Or another job?"
"Maybe."
"Claire, what happened earlier? It's not like you to slip up or let your guard down. I also doubt Lucifer would let his guard down."
"We had killed it, but it reconstructed itself."
"Oh, that is tricky."
An awkward silence began to form, but it broke when Claire said, "I don't believe he's as much of a monster as you say. However, I do see why you would think so."
"..."
The group regrouped, dismantled the corpses, and collected all the items. They also added each other on their friends' tab for further contact. After an hour of looking around for anything else valuable, once Alex was given everything, they decided to leave the dungeon. Alex agreed to the announcement, and as they left, they heard Thea's voice.
* Violet City Announcement *
"The Players Lucifer, Blossom, Rose, and Claire have cleared the Fire Cave on Hell difficulty. They each received a Light-Gold Item."
This announcement repeated itself three more times. Alex smiled at the three girls and tore a parchment. This parchment being a Return Scroll, that returned a player to a bounded location. He then disappeared from their sight and reappeared at the Violet City Teleportation Hall.
